Ever since my childhood days, I have been hearing people cheering Gavaskar's century in a drwn match even when India lost the series 3-1!
These journalists will never write anything useful. Same old crap. Have you noticed that there are very fw Australians with highest test runs, 10000 ODI runs etc, but they win 70-75% of their matches. Maybe by the time someone has been around so much to score 10K, there is an younger better playes, and the oldie is shown the door.

We are alway waiting for 29th century, Sachin overtaking Lara- to what end?

Instead BBCI should put a constrain on players. like for first 50 matches the success rate 60% . Once the player crosses this probation period he is the team and then following conditons apply:

Age: 30 Max or let BCCI decide
Runs : 6000 or lets BBCI decides
Matches : limit to 250 or let BCCI decides.

Note: From the above 3 conditions which ever comes first player has to facilitated as vetran and show the gates.

Dhoni eyes top spot in ICC ranking, the writer of this article is eaither fool or he is trying to make a fool of the readers. In this whole article Dhoni never mentioned about ICC ranking and his personnel intentions, its writers view, with IFs and BUTS. he would have instead used the headline, Chances of Dhoni and bla bla.

Top spot

More than achieving individual top spot they should try to improve team's overall ranking. They need to do individaully good to achieve this. However, targating individual goals sometimes makes you selfish and teams interest are hurt. I have witnessed on a number of occasions when a batsman focused to remain not out (to boost his average) and not trying hard when asking rate was too high. That is not acceptable. Team should always come first.
