why people say 'fav 4' or 'big 4'. Ganguly is pathetic an average of 41 is laughable...by the end of the lanka & aussie series he will be averaging in the 30's.

Ganguly is a great batsmen,he doesnt play for records unlike ur hero SRT who is choking on the verge of breaking Laras record, which has been there for years, that too Lara has retired a few seasons ago and he started his career later than SRT who is still struggling to break it..

vaughan is also in a class of his own as batsman. captaincy was the only thing which affected his batting.

Indians shud learn from this
by ganesh shyam on Aug 04, 2008 09:55 AM

Indian cricketers for eg Ganguly holding on to his spot, captaincy problems, using influence shows how our system especially cricket is politicised...Common guys Dravid,Ganguly,Laxman,Tendulkar....pls retire & pave way for youngsters but ur all selfish/greedy for more money...

vaughan a gr8 batsman

but he didnt do much to eng side except winning ashes series in 2005 (which was also marred by the umpiring blunders).
however, being made capt of their team, he was astonishing player but after captaincy burden, his batting performance deteriorated.

now lets hope, to see vaughan purely as batsman getting his old class back n watch him play elegant strokes again.

if raina , yuvi, rohit play against quality bowlers at test level, their scores would look like helpline numbers - 1-0-0.

and seriously, yuvi has had many chances at test levels, he could convert none. good only in patches, but fails miserably most of the time.

seniors still have steam left - do not jude them singly on the basis of lankan wickets, where the nest position to bat is in number 1 and 2 before the spinners come into play.

So you feel Raina, UV, Rohit have the caliber to stand in a test match and bat for three four sessions......
And Kumble hasn't played a major role in the victory at Galle either....
It was all Harbhajan and Ishant,....
And come on Dravid has taken the highest number of catches in Test matches for India which is 176 and it is just 5 short of the world record for the highest no. of catches in test cricket...
