Heart felt condolensces to his family and may God Rest his soul in Peace. Great personality with bright cricketing mind. I have seen him play in his highschool days and very stylish batsman. God Bless his family.

Sorry, but there is nothing wrong in saying 'Ashok Mankad is dead'. Such language is not considered unparliamentary. 'Passes away' is just an Indian milder mannerism to announce that somebody is dead.

Further, there are various bad habits in the Indians' lexicon.
We frequently use the word 'prepone'. There is no such word in English. While there is 'postpone', there is no 'prepone' in English. One should say 'Bring it forward' or 'Brought it forward' instead of 'prepone'.
We also use the word 'updation'. There is no such word in English.
50 years ago, Vinoo Mankad and Pankaj Roy created 410 record for 1st wicket. 2 years ago, Sehwag and Dravid made 408. 2 months ago, Smith and Mckenzie of SA made 415.
it sad to hear the death of MANKAD at this age... He was a cricketer of average class not a master allorounder or brainy strategist and all that. He was somebody like KANITKAR.

Any analysis is subjective but u need to understand that being average class with cricketing skills has nothing to do with being a brainy strategist. You are mixing a physical attribute with a mental attribute....
Ashok Mankad, KAKA as we all called him, was a friend, philosopher and mentor to me. Ashok Mankad’s departure for his heavenly abode today means a loss of a great strategist for the cricketing fraternity.
We all admired him, respected him and learnt a lot of things from him. He was a person who had an Innovator, Anticipator and much more all rolled into one great personality.
My heartfelt condolences to Nirubhabhi, Harsh, Mihir and Jigabhai.
Ashok Mankad's untimely demise is a great loss to Mumbai Cricket. Ashok Mankad was a great tactician, somewhat like Mike Brearly of England. His services were not fully utilised by our capricious BCCI. May his soul rest in peace.
ITS REALLY SHOCKING TO KNOW A SUDDEN AND PRE-MATURED DEATH OF MR. ASHOK MANKAD... PERHAPS HE WOULD HAVE BEEN THE GREATEST, INTELLEGENT WITH VERY POWERFUL CRICKETING BRAIN, MAY BE ONLY COMPARABLE TO MR. RAVI SHASTRI... UNFORTUNATELY HIS GROWTH WAS ECLIPSED DUE TO THE DIRTY POLITICS AND PRESENCE OF GREATS LIKE SUNNY AND VISH...
ANYWAY IT COULD BE GOD'S WISH... I AND MY FAMILY JOIN IN PRAYING FOR THE DEPARTED SOUL REST IN PEACE...
It is sad and shocking to loose one of the well known cricketer so early. He could not live upto his potential as many genius have not achieved what they should have achieved ..this is destiny...
May his soul rest in peace.pray for family ..May God give them strength to bear the great loss.
