Moral policing

This moral policing need to stop. Who are these politicians to decide these? We should make India a free country. Cheer leading is a kind of sport and entertainment. We should not act like Taliban.

Cheerleaders will not be banned during Indian Premier League cricket matches in Mumbai. """"""However, they may have to shed their skimpy outfits,""""""" as the police warned of action against the organisers if their shows are found to be vulgar.

IPL cheerleaders under fire
by Porus Tavadia on Apr 26, 2008 02:18 AM  | Hide replies

All our so called moral policing politicians need to look at the dirt in their own backyard. The scenes in the common saas-bahu serials are shocking. They show rape, murder, violence and vulgarity in so many ways.
How come these so called "morally righteous" politicians are not targetted these serials? Isnt all of what I mentioned above against our "Sabhyata"/ Indian Culture?
Instead of "wah-wahiing", these idiots, I would rather evaluate my politician on parameters such as -
- inflation control
- growth of infrastructure
- rapid clearance of all cases against women in the courts of this country.
- growth in power generation.
- affordable houses to live in.
- a decent public transport system in all our cities.
- well maintained roads and highways, with professional emergency services for these roads.

SERIOUSLY, HAVENT YOU POLITICIANS GOT BETTER WORK TO DO. WORK THAT IS MEANT FOR THE ECONOMIC UPLIFMENT OF THE NATION?
THAT IS WHAT WE HAVE ELECTED YOU FOR. NOT TO MAKE AN ISSUE OUT OF THESE CHEERLEADERS!

They should be banned because of not showing enough

I don't understand why the moderator is so angry with the following message that he/she deleted it. I don't think it was bad at all, so I am reposting it. Please let us have a free speech.

I think they should ban the cheerleaders for not exposing enough. Look at the cheerleaders in other games like basketball or american football. Our cheerleaders are too modest. They need to show more. I will ban any long skirt and full sleeve. ONly micro skirt and bikini top should be allowed.

Ban Sarees with fat beely hanging out for showing
by Susobhan Ghosh on Apr 26, 2008 01:21 AM  | Hide replies

Before banning cheerleaders, ban those women wearing sarees with their FAT belly hanging out. If you ban cheer leading you need to ban many scenes of hindi movies. There are no hindi movie w/o girls dancing in skimpy dresses. if a foreigner watches a hindi movie, he will never think that women wear Sarees in India. In fact most of the young women in City may not even know to wear Saree.

State of dilemma of India
by aseem gupta on Apr 26, 2008 12:58 AM  | Hide replies

I believe the Indian thinking is becoming quite westernised. It is not bad atall but I blve India is one country who is quite famous for its cultural heritage. Indian youth both girls and boys are becoming quite fashionable and they are quite influenced by these western girls and many other reasons. But the point to ask is whether this westernisation corrupting the Indian culture or leading to develop our economy.I dont think may people will like if their wives and sister wear such dresses. So i blve strongly that we should atleast avoid such things which might influence the Indian culture, if and only if many sections of our society doesn't accept it or are shy about it.

Maybe we should look at preserving a culture of not taking bribe, keeping the surroundings clean, being polite to others, get rid of dirty politics, enforce better law system, etc. before coming to such small issues. There is nothing wrong in the attire of cheerleaders and this is a free country so let everyone enjoy their rights of freedom. Shall we!!

also the things ur talking abt is not to do with culture. By culture as quoted by Hofstede is "the collective programming of mind by a group of humans which distinguises from other." The things ur talking abt is ethical and moral which assumably every one should do by default.

i m not against westernisation, but i m talking abt almost naked gals which were dancing in some of the matches. If majority of people will start accepting it, then definitely it will a common trend like jeans and pants. But with bikini dance most of the society is not comfortable with. Hence either they should have more clothes or should be banned from dancing

So u mean to say is there is no culture in india or culture of india is changing? I dont understand u. The thing i m talking abt is in US and UK, children are left at the age of 16, have sex and have babies. Dont care what their mom, sister or nebody is wearing. There is nothing wrong in it bcoz it is their culture. I never saw that culture in India. I am talking of equality, conceptualising some of the Indian metality. They want to see foreign cheer leaders in bikinis but when it comes to their home or their close feminine then sari, jeans or salwar suit. NOT ATALL BIKINI SHOW. Tell me something would u like to see ur mom in socalled bikini or may be ur just horrified by the statement. The thing is if u have to change, then make radical change not just looking merely saminaked gals of foreign country. Have guts to look someone closer to u. Then i will really be satisfied that Indian culture is MOVING ALONG THE WESTERN CULTURE>
