Laxman has to go.
by Truth Seeker on Apr 25, 2008 07:46 AM  | Hide replies

Laxman hasn't played well, and has been a liability to the team so far. Laxman is not leading by example. His decisions have been very bad. How could he give the last over to Symonds when he didn't bowl well in the previous overs? He has to be replaced by someone who can play and be an inspiration in Twenty20 format of the game.

Laxman's leadership skills, especially after his poor performance through out this tournament so far, has been a topic of debate and would remain so. He's not able to gel with the team and is really not seen confident with his fielding options at some time. Yesterday also, symonds helped him out with some of the fielding settings. He's hardly seen in the national ODI squad and how come you pic such a guy for the T20 format, he's trully not familiar with the whole concept and the urgency with which this format of the game is played. He has to go and Symonds or Gilly should be given the captaincy for a change.

Both are valid points and must be noted. Gilly as Captain sounds very good.

by Joyjit Roy on Apr 25, 2008 01:47 AM | Hide replies

Dear Prem(the highly ethical low paid reporter from rediff) Good to see you trying to takle unethical things thatjoker sourav does all the time, by the way being an expat I am not well versed with the IPL rules Does each team play 5 overs a day so that the weather elements infuences over four to five days of play.? I actually wrote applauding your highly ethical efforts in match reporting during Indias south african tour the previous year I also asked you a question then but yet to recieve a reply from you so will you be kind enough to reply and enlighten me further on thisIPL rules issue . being a great ethical soul I hope you will forgive me for lack of depth on cricketing issues specilly regarding a corrupt soul called sourav and thats why I appluded your match reports then when India was in south africa especilly when you praised an onfield joker named sourov for his antics (but I think he was not playing cricket!!)so much so in your match reporting then that i really took interest on this funny game which everyone calls cricket. I am stumped. keep it up good job but please do reply after all you are a highly ethical man and we are your fan and you are after all a reporter of international repute unlike us who can express our opinions here bereft of honesty and portraying only our upbringing by outburst of emotions not befitting proper educated souls.

sachin has given indian cricket its golden years
by pradeep prakash on Apr 25, 2008 12:16 AM  | Hide replies

i dont wanna start a discussion, whether sachin is the greatest of batsmesn or he is a match winner or anything else.any person who has even a bit of cricketing sense will agree wid me that without any doubt,he has performed in every condition n against every opponent for india.in fact he has carried indian cricket on his lone shoulders before the arrival of ganguly, dravid, yuvraj or sehwag.people questioning his capability can just see his batting record against the best team in world(australia).he surely reserves his best against the toughest team and in their own backyard.
i just want to tell, that a cricketer like sachin is born once in a lifetime or maybe once in a century(like sir don bradmen).so guys, instead of criticising him or comparing him with any other player, just celebrate wat sachin himself is...and the golden years he has given to indian cricket.
at the end,i wud like to tell those who criticise him, that like any other team game, cricket also needs every player of the team to contribute for a win(the perfect example is india's test win over australia at perth).so if india looses any match, its not just becoz sachin didn't play well.its coz of the other 10 players failures also.
i wud also like to congratulate every sachin fan for standing behind him,wen he was going through tough times.
c'mon guys.........say loudly wid me...
HAPPY B'DAY SACHIN.
your comments guys.......

Abusing any cricketer, whether he plays for India or any country is bad, but criticising Sachin or other players is neither Juvenile nor harsh. No one is above criticism. Sachin, may be one of the all time best, but certainly not without blemish.

Cheerleaders should go
by sri on Apr 24, 2008 07:02 PM  | Hide replies

Cheerleaders of the kind that India is not used to bring out the worst animals who disgrace the rest of us. As Afridi said, 'cricket is entertainment itself, why are cheerleaers needed'.

A lot of people might be repressed sexually but not all behave the way some Indian men do. The difference is an unrefined and instinctive mind!

I oppose the idea of depute cheerleaders. As they are meant for cheering the people, not the players. People in india never like to watch so called cheerleaders, instead of cricket. I think the cheerleaders (foreign girls) are disappointed the way indian public is 'not responding' to them and crying to the media other way.
If the authorities are thinking these girls are required to attract indian public, let the authorities to conduct cricket matches with these foreign girls.. Let them play with bikinies.. and let us see how the indian public respond?

It is sheer hyprocisy by the so called moralists. They dont find the similarly half naked girls obscene in each and every hindi movie. And if you go and find out their females at home also might be wearing such outfits.
Bunch of psedo-moralists.

I do not think its hypocricy. Its about how we look at women, or how we Indians have traditionally looked at women, something that the west has never realized and as a consequence have not had stable families, short relationships, high divorce rates. Moreover, this should only be an exhibition of cricket and nothing else. If one is coming for 'skin show' how does that enhance the love of cricket.
I am sure there are various ways to get that.
Yes, your point is well taken. Similarly nudity in films for general view, in TV serials, in remixes is equally bad. However, just because we alloy something inappropriate in one field just not justify that we do so everywhere.

most ridiculous as ever!
by Sam on Apr 24, 2008 06:57 PM  | Hide replies

Show some respect for cultural sensitivities maan. Grow up. You seem to be groomed under western materialistic philosophy which treats woman as commodities and less of as personalities. It's the great Indian tradition that has given utmost value to women; and Indian women have by far lived up to the expectations and the respect they command in the society.

use your brains and creativity and eloquence for writing something meaningful. And please don't be under the guise that skin-show is enticing and thus becomes appropriate in every culture!

Dada's form is TunTun form....
by sanjay on Apr 24, 2008 06:52 PM  | Hide replies

Dada's form is TunTun form....
TunTun do you know? not Aish's form.
Just no class ordinary Ranji class.

Bongs say Ganguly is T20 batsman now know the fact.

Dravid

Matches 333 runs 10585 average 39.49 Strike Rate 71.22

Gangu Pehelwan

Matches 311 runs 11363 average 41.02 Strike Rate 72.70

Where is the difference to be shown?
Whereas Gangu Pahelwan is king against minnows.

Gangu Pehlwan scored 25 % of his runs against minnows.
Whereas Darvid only 16 % of his runs against minnows.

And in Test Ganguly no match for Dravid.

Frankly, both Dada (Ganguly) and Dravid are not suited for T20 cricket and so is VVS Laxman. They are currently making a complete fool of themselves when compared to the Mccullums Haydens and Husseys!!

DearSanjay I FEAR Leadership!!!I think you are totally right thes bongs live next to indias greatest cowbelt cricketer cum wicket keeper and and north of indias greatest captainfrom south of vindhyas who gave up captaincy voluntarily to teach all bongs a lesson by the way living in ranchi and banglore for professional committments I consider people in these states as greatest indian souls and leaving in delhi the most intelligent poeple i interacted were policemen from delhi We should be proud of their achievements in crime fighting making it the crime capital of our nation.
All this leaves you to see dadas ghost in your daily life and you reflect a lot of grace in your enlightened upbringing by constantly harping on this forum on similar lines which also reflects the pain for the loss of indian captaincy Cheers for this sanjay and his educated intelligent and erudite self for expressing his views reflective of his inherent pain in the voluntary resignation of our greatest dravidian captain. Keep it up sanjay
