useless pool of players.
by ben hur on Apr 18, 2008 03:19 PM

each team has 22-25 players to select from.

even when 14 r there in national odi team, selecting a playing 11 is a headache n after all this, 1-2 players from the list of 14 dont even find place in the team at all, even after the full tourney is over as they r just passengers. then how out of these 24 players, 11 vl b selected n majority of them vl b passengers. further selection vl also b at the whims n fancies of the capt. good reason for fixing.

its just for the propaganda that u-19 n young ind players r included in the team. with the intnl players in the list of 25, other indian players r not going to get much chance at all.

Whatever anyone might say or whine about the BCCI. The fact of the matter is BCCI has the $$ and if they are resorting to strong arm tactics. damnn well they will. So all of those who are complaining.. there is not a damn thing you can do about it so learn to live with it. If you think thats arrongant.. yea right.. we are arrogant - DEAL WITH IT....

Sorry Sanjay BY is right. Rediff has a typo where it has mentioned that ICC is arrogant, it should be BCCI as the players are revolting against ICC on the way BCCI is behaving.

FICA has no support
by Karun Sharma on Apr 18, 2008 08:35 AM

FICA has no support on their comments. Aussie has won so many world cups in the past decade 1999, 2003 and 2007 and also reached final against Sri Lanka in the year 1995. India could reach final only once in the year 2003.
If BCCI has such huge influenc e on ICC, then the world cup result could have been much better for India...
and Harbhajan is not responcible of this issue alone.. he actually retaliated to the continuous taunts of the Aussies...

And... so far as 'your' players are concerned... we are going to continue 'BUY' and 'SELL' them in India (read IPL/ICL)

Let us seethe action rather than empty talk. We have seen how 'fair' you guys were when you had the power. In your own 'English' words - What goes round, comes round. Not only that, the saying applies equally to those who came up with it too.
We dare you to do what like.

The Guardian is no longer the Guardian of cricket
by Kaushik Pal on Apr 17, 2008 09:25 PM

I think no responsible news space should carry such news published by the Guardian, which is only meant for certain people who are hooked to their colonial past. It irrelevant and waste of time in this time of IPL fever gripping the real cricket lovers.

FICA is a joke
by timepass on Apr 17, 2008 09:13 PM  | Hide replies

FICA is the biggest joke and I cant stop laughing at this story. President of FICA is Tim May - have u heard of him. They claim to represent international cricketers. LOL Even our street cricketers are better players than Tim May. LOL ECB is ruing the fact that T20 started in England and BCCI is the one cashing in. But it should analyse its own setup and reasons for failure. Indians should be commended for making the concept a phenomenon in world cricket. And lets face it - India is a far more attractive place globally now than England. So no matter how much ECB tries, it simply cannot compete with IPL. The times my friends in ECB has surely changed.

If India does not play, there is no money in cricket. Lets see what games ECB resorts to now to reclaim white monopoly in cricket.

I think FICA has already resorted to gimmick by organising meeting in Texan house of a lawyer where people do not even know the spelling of cricket. They represent a body of bygone cricketers who are totally irrelevant to the game.

So take your sorry as-s to your snow covered lands and leave us alone. We have tons of parties to go to, no time for you white beggers.

how come Indian youth become so dumb ?
before commenting non sense why cant you ppl read the article properly.

Please go and read the same article in zeenews. Its not narrated the truth properly in rediff.

FICA is hinting ICC that, if ICC continue to support BCCI monopoly, they are going to make different cricket governing board.

All greats of world cricket are not with BCCI & ICC now. BCCI & ICC is only left with few greats and overhyped players.

I hope Duffer bloggers can atleast be shut up instead throwing nonsense comments.

FICA is right in questioning BCCI and ICC.

Even though I am in Indian, I would certainly love somebody taking the bull (BCCI) by its horns. Enough of BCCI hegemony and ICC being the 'yes men' of BCCI.

For all those supporting BCCI, do you realise that BCCI is not even allowing a supporters forum to be formed. They are not keen on safeguarding the interests of supporters like you and me, the committed people who watch the TV, go to stadiums, bring revenue to BCCI. It is a very autocratic organisation. So, FICA is within its rights to raise the banner of revolt against BCCI and its stooges the ICC.

Please know, there are certain issues beyond India vs Australia and Bhajji vs Symonds.

mmspm, I perfectly agree with your 'Duffer blogger' comments....

You are partially right, I am not happy with BCCI for banning ICL. But as far as FICA is concerned I think they are mad because Bhajji-Symonds issue. I honestly feel it was Symonds who walked away scot free after instigating Bhajji for being a good cricketer (hard to believe, yes!) by patting Lee for a good show! So I won't support them.

Its a simple issue of sour grapes by the greedy talentless cricketers who missed out on IPL. If FICA represents the top cricketers, ppl will take notice. Else it will provide good entertaining reading and laughs. There is nothing the BCCI is doing thats wrong - I admire them for standing up for Bhajji against ICC racist a-holes like Proctor. If anything, BCCI has started to act against age-old bullying and obnoxious behaviour by Aus and England and ECB finds it difficult to accept Indian dominance, in typical English fashion. TIme for them to wake to realities of the world and accept they are not in control as they lack the talent.

Dominated by whom
by sri on Apr 17, 2008 07:18 PM  | Hide replies

So the FICA is dominated by the Aussies??? They blame the ICC for being intimidated by BCCI. Whose agenda's is FICA's. Aren't Indian players cricketers too - then how can the Harbhajan episode be seen so one-sidedly by the FICA unless they are being dominated by the Aussies?

If Harbhajan issue is raised by FICA, why not pull up McGrath for calling Asian players black monkeys first. Its almost like whites have a birth right to make racist remarks while browns need their permission to even call them monkey? And someone pls explain how calling someone just monkey is racist? How old is Symonds - 6?
