whats the fuss
by kishore k. p. on Apr 17, 2008 04:34 AM

BCCI has been giving live coverage contract to a particular channel/organization for so long. Its upto the channel to share it or not with other channels. Which they do in terms of clippings as per their agreements.

Case in example..In the US be in NBA or American footbal which is very popular is carried one particular channels depending on the agreement, but in the news most channel show clippings. I guess they hv some kind of understanding.

So why should this be any different for IPL. Sony paid head on crores of rupees, and what do you guys expect sony to give highlights to all channels for free display. Its their property and they sell to whomever however they want.

As for fans, whats the problem, watch sony channel or whatever channel its available. In India atleast until all the channels are free. Here in the US if I want to watch a particular game, all of them are not free, need subscribe for that.

India is shining, every thing should shine, but no one wants to pay for it. Great !!!
This is called liberalization and capitalism..enjoy it !!! but for a price.

India Media will do anything for TRP & Money
by Dharmendra Singh on Apr 16, 2008 09:04 PM

Come on Guys . Indian Media doesn't have the guts or willingness to blackout IPL ..after all they see this event as a great TRP enhancer & money grabber event. Indian Television Channels which shows Abhishek's - Aishwarya Marriage Coverage for Non -Stop 2 days , Media intentions are well known here by BCCI. BCCI is right in every aspect to give exclusive rights to any channel they want ..after all its business. If indian media is really serious , why do they show ads/promos of IPL & why do they worry if rights have been given to SONY.

Media is just cribbing!!
by Abhishek Pol on Apr 16, 2008 03:08 PM

Electronic Media is cribbing becoz they want their TRP high.Media want to earn more and more money using IPL.BCCI has every right to decide whom to give rights or not.
But it's sad that website like cricinfo is barred from covering IPL.
