High time for Cricket Boards to disappear!
by Srinivas Kasinathan on Apr 03, 2008 05:42 PM

These problems are arising because Cricket Boards of all countries, especially India and Pakistan are beginning to feel the heat of competition even before a year has passed since ICL started. Now they do understand in the coming two to three years, young cricketers with talent will no longer be at their mercy of having to get a chance of playing in front of big crowds and be on live television. ICL has BCCI and PCB scared stiff! This is to be welcomed. Cricket needs to become like football where clubs display global talents along with local home-grown talents. The World Cup of football is played for honor and not money. This is how cricket should become and will eventually become and in the dynamic, ballistic 20/20 version at that and not in the 50/50 or the mindless, endless variety called tests. More clubs will grow and more tournaments will take birth. Cricket Boards must change with the times and become honorary forums like Football Federations or Football Associations in countries around the world. Eventually cricket shall be a regular and very sought after fixture in Olympics. In more than 100 years of cricket under the Cricket Boards around the world, the game did not take off and neither has it been ever accepted in Olympics even in spirit. Why? Now in just another five years' time we will see a drastic change around the globe which will be all for the better for cricket. Viva la cricket!

What the hell ???

See these lines:

"These bans are weakening Pakistan cricket. A fine would have been fine for Shoaib. He has not committed a crime," he said.

"The board must keep in mind that we also need to win matches and keep our pride in international cricket."

They talk as if the whole future of pakistan cricket is in the hands of Shoaib. Great is that time which depends on only one person for winning.

And since when has this moron shoaib become a match winner? All I remember is only a handful matches in which he fired, that to because of chucking. Look at the no. of times he was banned for chucking/tampering.

finally someone wrote sense!
Akbar, that's a great analysis!
problem with Shaoib is that he always that he is/was bigger than the game itself!!
He should look at his own team's great peers who have done commendable job for their country without any tamashas/hara-kiris!!
He just doens't shut up because of Diarrhea in his mouth! just an idiot who hasn't grown up at all!! there is a saying that 3Ws can ruin a man's life - Women - Wine and Wealth!! I am not sure where this moron fits in!!!
Instead of bulking those fake muscles he should sharpen his BRAINS - Brwan versus Brains!!
What a waste!!!

hey, it's nothing wrong to play for ICL!
in fact, it is giving lots of opportunities to the people whose dreams were not fulifilled by thse stupid spineless boards like PCB, BCCI.....
Sami might not be a great bowler but gave his heart out day in and day out NOT like this egostic Akthar...and the list goes on...
what about Dinesh Kaneria...this guy is downgraded in his contract.

Some exchange my freind..India doesnt and India will not have ANY FASTER BOWLER even the near the caliber of the following:

Wasim Akram, Waqar Yunis, Shoaib Akhtar and Fazal Mehmood impossible also not to mention Aqib Javed. Only possible match up was Imran vs Kapil Dev.

Personally I think Wasim was unbeatable even inside Pakistan no comparison even to Imran Khan.

yeah, so what!! at least we play cricket and people come to our country to play cricket, but how about you.....No one wants to play in bomb-lastic chaotic country!!!
who cares Shoaib was fast, that moron needs to respect the game!!!
India might not produce fast bowlers but they don't need to!!! GET IT!!!! Now ask your players to respect the game that gives bread and butter!!!!
Now, you go back and join a school and educate yourself!!!!

Good reply Sikandar,
but unfortunately they need to build schools before that.... and that will take time.
So let 'em live in this pseudo-happinezz mode. After all we want them to be happy ;)

Yes Man correct, all the bowlers currently in the team are just average.Bay be i feel if opponents are provoked, they might get world records re-written in their batting department.Like Indian politicians these new breed of bowlers look like jokers, over exaggerating their inner souls,How the hell these guys be compared to the Greats of Kapil,Imran and the Lethal even now Wasim
