Is INDIA=BCCI? - Mr Sharad Pawar shud stop running cricket..
by Sajay Narayan on Apr 08, 2008 03:27 PM

Hellow Mr. Pawar,

Instead of destroying indian cricket, do the job what you have to do...what people want you to do..thats y they elected u..

These bloddy politicians are ruining Indian cricket.

Cheers to ICL....All my friends in my hostel used to watch ICL with great interest...
Rquest tomedia..please put more coverage for ICL...

Most of the matches in ICL were exciting. As someone commented, try to have coverage in Doordarshan also.

try to get more city based teams like bangalore..jaipur...cochin...so that u will get good supporters...

Keep the gud work....we r with you..

If you love cricket then ICL should survive
by mukesh Vijayvergia on Apr 03, 2008 12:26 AM

Even if BCCI has done no bad things ICL exsitance is important for improving BCCI and cricket as a whole for the nation. The current matches are really good to watch and it seems they are having some good plans for the future too. ALL the best

ICL deserves atleast some kudos
by Rakesh Narayan on Apr 02, 2008 10:50 PM

Whats better than this for an Indian enterpreneur. Heres a man (SC) who invested in an idea understanding the current market reality of India. What does BCCI do -> Hijack the idea and force everyone in the Cricket world to forcibly comply. It doesnt matter if ICL worked or not. What it indicates is a new face of India, where enterpreneurship will be encouraged even if it defies age old logic whose basis is under question. I love test cricket but a 5 day stalemate at Chennai discourages me from ever investing time in a test match in India. Subash has done something quite revolutionary and we need to sit back and appreciate it for what it is.

Desperate ICL
by Freek Guy on Apr 02, 2008 06:08 PM  | Hide replies

Dunno how long they will survive.. If a team with all boottas like Inzy, Saqlain etc... can raise the bar in a twenty20, then even the Manipur Ranji team(does a team exist??) should be able to do it..
Except that they have organised it well with item numbers in between as eye-catchers, I think it was total flop in terms of cricket.. How many sitters were dropped? Run outs are a rarity.. Even when simplest catches are taken, commentators shout.. What a catch!! etc... Glimpses of talent appear only from people who have dared to come from live international cricket, others are all waste..
Its nice to see someone coming against the corrupt money-oriented BCCI but not sure how long they can stay on.

Classix example: Rohan Gavaskar was an all time waste in International cricket. He was given more opportunities than he deserved through his influential father. Still he could not leave a mark in his career.
See he is one of the super players in one of the teams.. Hits only boundaries in ICL. Now you can judge the bar raisers..
I think it is a good option for retired hands. Quick money. What else to do after cricket. But for budding ones like Rayudu and all, who could have waited and entered the main stream, impatience has been the knoll.

Are you talking on behalf of BCCI.

It seems you have not seen the performances of players like Ali Murtoza, T.P.Singh, Stuart Binny, IS Reddy, Syed Mohammed, Abu Nechim, Alfred Absolem, Patil and so on.

Do they appear buddas to you ?

Then what about players like Ganguly, Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, etc? If they appear young to you, then PLEASE GET YOUR EYES CHECKED FROM SOME DECENT DOCTOR AND NOT FROM ANY BCCI CLINIC OR ELSE YOU WOULD GO ON TALKING THIS KIND OF SHIT.

ur comment is a shame infact gavaskar rohan has been graceful and has been given limited oppurtunities his ranji average is 44 which is healthy, he is respected and popular amongst bengalis which speaks for itself, he has been burdend by surname and expectations, his talent is there for all to see in this chaptter of ICL

I dont agree with you about the fielding standard of ICL.I am sure you did not watch the the matches wholeheartedly. All the critics agree that fielding in ICL is of international standard(though Batting and Bowling lag behind). The players dive around and throw flat at the wicket. They are better than the fielding standard od indian test side. The matches recently have been very interesting and good cricket was at show.
Also...the commentators are the ones who commentate in international matches....tony greg..dean jones..geoffry dujon...pat symcox..atul wasan..how can u blame them??

ICL will do well..
by on Apr 02, 2008 05:24 PM

If ICL ends up being a success, a crucial reason for it would be the ICL management. The ICL is run my professional business managers with the front end support of ex-cricketers unlike BCCI which is run my politicians and is poorly managed.

ICL should share the feed of this series with DOORDARSHAN for wider reach of audience and a message to the nation that BCCI means NOT-INDIA.

Doordarshan has a very nice policy of sharing the revenue (of about 75%) back to the private broadcaster.

Zee, dont waste the opportunity to share this cricket-series with Doordarshan

More advertisement is needed for ICL.
by Francis Louis on Apr 02, 2008 03:04 PM  | Hide replies

I watched most of the matches of this year's ICL.

As a great fan of Kapil Dev and Indian cricket lover, I know that ICL will never fail. May be it is moving forward in slow & steady steps.

After bringing in Mr. Mithun in its fold, ICL has send a warning to BCCI, that it is serious. BCCI is doing everything to halt the ICL.

BUT WE ALL KNOW IT WILL BE FUTILE. EVENTUALLY ICL WOULD WIN - A LEAGUE RUN & MANAGED BY CRICKETERS.

I am sure many die hard well wishers of Indian Cricket are watching ICL matches. Infact, we may boycott the IPL matches.

We are very sad to see most of the electronic media and the print media have sold themselves to BCCI. Instead of giving some coverages to the nail bitting ICL matches, they are more interested in report what SRK is doing for IPL, what is the dress of Dare Devil, Delhi, etc.

Only in 'TIMES OF INDIA' we could see some daily reporting of the ICL procedings. TOI please keep up your good work. Atleast ONE Newspaper in Eastern India is neutral and not partial like others.

Parallely, I think there should be ads of ICL on all Zee Channels including Zee TV and Zee Cinema, atleast once in 01 hours, so that the common veiwers may also come in ICL folds. And in the process understand the treatment meted out by the corrupt Pawar run regime.

Finally, we are ashamed of SRK, Akshay Khan, Vijay Mallya, Mukesh Ambani and others that you have not supported the man KAPIL - who knows & cares for Indian Cricket better than anyone in BCCI

I agree...that the matches of ICL are getting better and better every match....also banning players is just unbelievable for me...there is lots of talent in ICL...
But on the other side..I think u should just chill and watch T20 matches if they are interesting(ICL or IPL..doesnt matter)...Also,we should not be ashamed of SRK just coz he has joined IPL...he has given our country fame and we should be proud of having him.

START A PARALLEL ICC TOO!
by rajendra agrawal on Apr 02, 2008 02:02 PM

We all know that ICC is impotent in every way.
It cannot even successfully select its CEO.
Therefore, after the parallel World Series, ZEE should take steps to set up a parallel ICC and have parallel T20 World Cup too !
I only wish that it gets more youngsters from foreign countries to join the respective teams, and then they should all play Inter-country tournaments.
This will definitely finish off BCCI's city team format.
But better start this first, otherwise BCCI will start this definitely after their first season, as they will also realise that nobody wants to limit themselves to promoting city clubs when they can promote country teams at the same price.
