Sure, RP was excluded because if included he will be the third left arm pace bowler in the team. I could have included him easily in the list ahead of Sreesanth, but the attack will look almost similar.
Thankfully, they selected RP Singh in the place of Rohit Sharma..

Hayden's comments
by Vidyasagar Raghunathan on Sep 29, 2007 07:59 AM  | Hide replies

Aussie players tend to think wrongly about the word aggression. Mr. Hayden has warned Dhoni that the real test will be after a couple of series. true he might have a good amount of experience behind him, but he has not held the position of a captain in international cricket. He is no position to warn or talk about the test of captaincy.
OOOhhh !!! these Aussies, since they wanna talk aggressively, talk very much inappropriately in an inappropriate situation holding inappropriate position. When will they stop this blah blah stuff. Somebody shut their mouth pl !!!

Don't worry anymore Vidya......
Team india is balanced and in a great confidence. Performance of Dhoni's Lions will shut their mouth very soon....i am hoping to see a great match in b'lore....following with 6 more matches and this series win should be enough to shut their mouth. WOh Ek Kahawat hai"Hathee Chalta hai toh kutte bhonkte hain lekin hatheee apni mast chal main chalta jata hai" i mean When elephant walks on the roads dogs can only bark and Elephant keep walking. So lets see Future Cup.

Go for a good fielding team
by Mat on Sep 28, 2007 02:13 PM  | Hide replies

Should play with 5 bowlers;Pathan being the 5th bowler beacause of his batting too.

Australia is a good team, and certainly one among the above 4 bowlers is going to have a bad day out. That leaves between 13 and 17 overs ,which have to be bowled by part-timers! And those overs are more than enough to post extra 150 runs.
To add to this ,imagine the poor fielding of our seniors.!
2 of the 3 aging seniors are enough as batsmen.
I would add Sreesanth as he is a right hand bowler with bounce. Otherwise, there will be 3 left hand bowlers with more or less same style.
My team would be
SAchin Tendulkar
Gautham gambir
Robin Uthappa/Rohit Sharma
Rahul Dravid
Yuvraj
Dhoni
Irfan Pathan
Harbhajan
sreesanth
RP singh
Zaheer Khan

Also strict orders to openers to hit over the top, because thats what the first 15 overs r meant for.
This team is fairly balanced and also have a spring in their fielding which is essential to our success against a better fielding side such as Australia.

I hope not from sensible Bengalis! Ganguly is one of the best openers we have had,and I miss his long sixers.
But Aussies had worked him out long back and never let him play well against them. His average is 22 in 30 matches against them which hardly is average of a player who deserves a place in this Indian team. To add to this, his running between wickets ,and fielding would get him not even to a club team in Australia.
If any Bengali thinks with his brain and passion for India and not be narrow minded,he would agree with me too!
If he is included,we are one man down straight away. I am willing to be proved wrong, for India,s sake.
However ,I do think his performance in 30 matches should tell us something.
