Shoaib Malik is immature..
by Ritu Singh on Sep 25, 2007 02:57 PM  | Hide replies

Shoaib Mallik in the presentation ceremony told "I am thankful to all the Muslims".... What the hell did he mean by that..?? Is he trying to say that Muslims are represented by Pakistan..?? If that is so, he is sadly mistaken... Pakistan is a country which is unable to sustain itself... Who gave Shoaib Mallik the right to speak on behalf of ALL the muslims...????

The cricketing board should sit up and take notice of such statements and impose fines / bans on such cricketers....

Cricinfo had a befitting reply to him.

"First of all I want to say something over here. I want to thank you back home Pakistan and where the Muslim lives all over the world."

This is what he said word for word because it's important to quote him correctly. The problem here isn't the syntax, it is the sentiment. I don't expect Shoaib Malik to be a politically correct intellectual, but it is reasonable to expect him to know the world of cricket that he inhabits.

It is a world where Muslims, Hindus and a Sikh currently play for England, where Buddhists, Muslims, Christians and a Hindu play for Sri Lanka, where Hashim Amla turns out for South Africa, where a Patel plays for New Zealand, where Muslims, Sikhs, Christians and Hindus play (and have always played) for India. Why would Shoaib think, then, that the Muslims of the world were collectively rooting for the Pakistan team or that they felt let down by its defeat? Did he stop to think of how Danish Kaneria, his Hindu team-mate, might feel hearing his Test skipper all but declare that the Pakistan team is a Muslim team that plays for the Muslims of the world? It is one thing to be publicly religious%u2014Shahid Afridi thanked Allah and Matt Hayden and Shaun Pollock are proud, believing Christians%u2014quite another to declare that your country's cricket eleven bats for international Islam.

Is this the forum to talk about this? Shouldn't Cricinfo and cricket's online community stick to cricket and leave issues like

Pakistan cricket team and its players represent their country. What ever they say publicly will be reflected upon the public image of their nation.

I have only one thing to say to all those fanatics out there. Look at Indian cricket team, those boys represent our nation. Can you see a hindu or a muslim in there? No you cannot. They are one. They are brothers. They are INDIANS. And I am proud of them.

Ritu You are right, this poor chap thought if he can take the sympathy of the muslims, but he had forgotton that in india the population of muslim is more than the pakistan.
And he is misleading by not differenciating between muslim and terrorists.
There is a hell and heaven difference between these two.

Only god can save these poor peoples.

In pakistan religion is a big deal. It flows on the veins like blood. Anything they start, they start with Religion, if they will not add there religion on there speach they think that they had commited sin. Its not only Shoaib Malik, its whole pakistani nation who behaves like that. If I am not forgotten on every match when Inzzy was captain of the Pakistan team, he always starts with his religion thanking his GOD and his Religion and a long sentence of praising Islam. By using Religion as First word of impression they are making FUN out of them in International Stage. May God give them brain to these Jokers to behave.

Cheers for India.

True. Pakistan is a country which thinks as it represents all the Muslims in the World irrespective of their nationality. In reality, it does inculcate 'manipulated' and 'terrorised' islamic idologies which does not reflect true nature of a respectable religion.

First of all they are not fluent in english except few. Even in our country some players are not fluent in english.

Malik is New Captain and do not have much experience in front of MIKE. It' happen sometime, we should not forget he was losing captain and under pressure. So I request all Indian not to discuss any more about this and forgive Sohaib Malik for the sentence. We should Enjoy and only Enjoy.

my dear kalyan, T20 has lots of un experenced captains and players. Why all these bad things happen only by pakistanis. Under pressure you cant say as u like and get away with it. He is representing a country, at least the pakistan board should train him how to speak and how to behave. I dont agree with you at all.

There are more muslims in india than in pakistan. Who has given the right to malik to speak like this in a award ceremony.

It is high time ICC should take up this matter with PCB and seek an unconditional apology from Shoib Malik for his statement.

If he is not able to speak english, he should have taken the assistance of rameej raja who was there in the commentary box, who could speke on behalf of him.

Learn from the mistake
by avik hore on Sep 25, 2007 02:56 PM  | Hide replies

Since from WC defeat India has played a good cricket , only lost to England in one day series, but they have played well.

India should not again commit the same mistake that they have done earlier by ignoring the senior players on the basis of few success. in 50 format game go with T-20 team would be big mistake.

And for Dhoni its very important to be in a form , playing good crickets and set an example. I am afraid that Dhoni's fate would be like Saurov, even more worse as he has already lost his form.

you've hit the nail on its head.. It is very easy to be get carried away with all the praise that Dhoni is getting.
He has looked off color with the bat in this entire season be it in England or SA.
Bottom line is Dhoni needs to improve his batting skills a great deal to continue playing for India otherwise KARTHIK can easily take up his position in the team.

Its a big shame for pakistani cricket supporters..Both india & pakistan had 50-50 chances as both were equally good. Its only the luck that favoured india. Even the last out of mishab was a poor shot.If it had crossed the boundary then the match would have gone for them...

It was a nerver holding match till the last over.I would equally congradulate both the team players for the kind of show thy have given yesterday....

Pakistani crickets fans, please grow up...We could understand your emotions, but no players should be blamed.

He, he, he, Shoaib malik did not understand one simple thing that two muslim brothers patans in the indian team who destroyed pakistan attack. Allah will always bless those who pray with good heart. India has more muslims than pakistan. Majority of muslims prayed for india to win. So shoaib, majority wins. They had to do this because they have no option. Just by taking the name of allah, they are safe to face the pakistan crowd agression. As you rightly said they play cricket like war. Indians played the game of cricket like players not pledging themselves to the mercy of any god. All you need is skills not blessings. I hope pakistan cricket board will restrict their players in making such S*T*U*P*I*D statement and embarass the entire muslim community. They should come out of the illusion that entire muslim community is backing them up.

They know that if we come together , these kind of politicians will never be able to rule or make money.

Its not very far.... when we will arise and throw all the politicians out and transform this country into a land of peace.

This T20 cup is a classic example of swadeshi move interms of coaches. I congradulate Vengsarkar, Venkatesh prasad and Robin singh for thier rold in this indian victory. It would be good to expose these young guns to indian coaches and bring more indianism in the team. Excellent team selection, classic bowling performance and mind blowing fielding was the best part of this world cup. Good luck india, good luck guys, Sorry pakistan, u also did well. I feel great that both the neighbours put up a good show in the final and out played SO CALLED best teams. cheers
