20-20 slog fest
by raju on Sep 21, 2007 10:07 PM  | Hide replies

It has been proved that 20-20 is a brainless slog fest. Anyone able to slog for a few overs will be able to propel his team. There is no tact, patience, skill, strategy involved. Bowlers are reduced to mere puuppets in the hands of the pitch. No wonder mediocre teams like India and Zimbabwe who are able to play a few good overs will do well in this game. 50-50 was a corrupt form of Test Cricket (the real cricket) and 20-20 signals the death of cricket in its most bas*ardized form.

indai will win agnst australia
by Aravind sai on Sep 21, 2007 09:53 PM  | Hide replies

for me it appears that india will win against aussies this time.....

reasons:::::::

1) poiting not there in their side.observe whenevr there is crucial match pointing will defnitely make a century for their team and make them win.
2) Mc.grath not there in Bowling dept.
indians most of the time struggle against Mc.grath bowling....
he is the who always takes our initial wickets and puts pressure on our middle order.....this makes our middle order to slow down their batting....and succumb to reaining fast bowlers in their team.
3) since sachin, sourav, dravid are not there in our team..... these three players always fail in th crucial match against australians and increase pressure on the other batsman.
4) our Youngsters are firing....... they are fearless, wont feel pressure like sachin, sourav, dravid.
5) less expectations on young indian team make them to free their arms.
6) Australians for first time in recent yrs. are struggling a bit..... in the big tournament.
7) indians for first time got the balance of batting and bowling....8 batsman/5 bowlers ..... i.e, including allrounders in the team.
8) opening pair performing reasonably well for india.
9) yuvraj in right time appears in form(not sure about this)....hope the game against england is not the one match show for yuvraj.... hope he continues his form.
10) dhoni though not in his usual hitting style .....appearing solid and playing very responsible innings(matches against pak,nz,SA).
11) Rp.singh in superb

continuation.....

12) Irfan brings balance in the team...... bowling well in the middle overs( generally he bowls his inswingers in the the inital overs and this is his success in past....but now he started bowling well even in the middle overs...)
12) indians unusally a doing well in the fielding dept..... this defnitely fetch us( Australians will b in a hope that indians fielding will b bad and try for extra runs whcih will help us with more runouts of Australians)

NOTE: I am not against Dravid ,sachin and sourav.

some precautions....

1) b aware of Hayden.
2) b watchful to Bracken and B.lee
3) dont give them chance to make big score.
4) Dont loose early wickets

for me it appears that.....Gilchrist will b out early 2maro but hodge will play crucial innings for australia 2 maro....and also S.clarck will big threat for 2maro's match.

Speculative but hopeful !! Lets not play astrologers here ...we're up against a world class team and lets hope our guys can be consistent. The key decider for me will be australia not batting first tomorrow. Then India can score well and apply pressure.

Hope Sreeshanth will bowl better tomorrow and our fielders take catches and field well. The Indians did a decent job against South Africa.
Hope they will continue their good work.

Decent job????? I would call is mediocre job. They cannot afford to give as much extras as they did yesterday. If they have to win tomorrows match against Australis, they have to make Australians struggle for every single run!

Yuvraj trying to avoid the game

Yuvi wants to be in the limelight for as long as possible. Best way to do that is stay from game and people will recall the feats... if only he was there we could have won the match...

U should be a sick guy to tell this. He is a match winner for India and its not easy to hit sixes like that. Moreover he is a class player and he is India's main middle order. Have u forgot How India struggled without Yuvraj in the DLF cup in Malysia and Champions Trophy? Nobody would want to rest rather than playing for the country. Without understanding cricket u r writing here. U can't perform like Yuvraj and don't pass derogatory comments when Yuvraj is far better than you.

Saroj and Carer,
It may be true Father and Brother are talking about his captaincy or boasting abt him. It may also be true that Yuvraj wanted captaincy. But he is a champion cricket, and would never shy away from playing matches. Only non-performers may do that. An moron like you will never get it.

why not you people think? Whatever Saroj and Carer told is 100% correct?

You people will not believe it, until it happens.

For sure, if yuvraj is taken for aus match, he will defnetly not play well.

India wins or not is diff, but he will not play.

Becoz you people are believing them like this, they are surviving. nobody can save india.

One more secret, Dhoni also knows that yuvraj will not put efforts in the AUS match, Just for the media sake, he say we want him in the AUS match

Dhoni has true cricketing skills
by Rexon on Sep 21, 2007 09:07 PM

The bowling Strategy used by Dhoni is really appreciatable. If ever Bhajji had to bowl the 17th over and had gone for some maximum's by the South African's then, God knows what would have happened. But keeping Bhajji to the last over and him bowling fuller ones, made a good gamble.

The wicketkeeping of Dinesh Karthick is just so clean and confident.... i mean the guy has just amazing skills.....
Might not be way off the mark to put him in the same league as Nayan Mongia and the brilliant Vijay Dahiya....

Which brings me to the question : why not hand over the gloves to Karthick with captain Dhoni controlling mid-field from either mid-on or mid-off so that he can be close to his bowlers most of the time!!
Yesterday, the fielding was just brilliant and for the first time we seemed to have a wizard behind the stumps.....

Completely agree with your suggestion...Dinesh should be given gloves but at the same time he has to work it out with his shot selection.
