Rigid professionalism?
by OM on Sep 20, 2007 06:20 PM  | Hide replies

Half the England side ran to Broad to offer sympathy but not one fielder congratulated Yuvraj. Why is it when history is made that players cannot break out of their team ethic even for a moment? Is Yuvraj so unpopular with this England side, or were they somehow clinging to some misguided notion of rigid professionalism?

You took these comments from David Hoffs (the Guardian - http://sport.guardian.co.uk/worldtwenty20/2007/story/0,,2172905,00.html) without even mentioning his name. So, Ladies and Gentlemen, the credit goes to David Hoffs, not this thief 'OM'. Shame on you!

well Stuart Broad is a kid. I guess they figured he might need help more then Yuvraj needed some hand shakes and I would agree to that. It feels pretty bad for a bowler and Sturat is not that bad really. I am sure he would have felt even more terrable if people ran towards Yuvraj and left him high and dry for those few moments.

He is the most elegant batsman and full of power. He is a delight to watch. But he often disappoints. Now that he is the VC and clearly the future,he shd get more consistent. But his sixes show will live forever.

The Jelly bean incident spiced up Zaheer Khan, and here Flintoff did it for Yuvraj.

Hope someone from SA team will do the same to wake up our sleeping gaints.

i guess we have to move on and need to get motivated by ourselves rather than by others, but freddie sure did us a favour :P both times the english guys got walloped for thier arrogance. we just need to cultivate the winning habit. we lose our way during critical times. yuvraj's innings is good for the psyche of the nation that feeds off the cricket so heavily. its abt time the cricket team took cues from our economy and the national syche as a whole, winning is good!

Siddhu, Kirti Azad, Kapil Dev, Arun Lal to some extent, Mongia, Maninder singh and even Sandip patel were giving opinions as per their own convenience particularly in the Head Lines, NDTV,Sahara etc. during the past two years of Dravid's Captaincy but none of them had the guts to point out that Dravid was performing well without the Senior players and politicians should not interfere in the selection of the Indian Team. After seeing the 2003 finals I am sure no other country would have given the Captaincy to Sourab. Chappell may be an outside but he is the one to tell the truth.

Absolutely right Giri..!!!

Its a joke to see cricketers like Saba Baba Karim, Atul notool Wassan, Nikhil akhil chopda, Chetan 6 Sharma etc come on TV and comment about what should be done by the cricketers of Indian team....

I mean, when given a chance, THESE self proclaimed cricket experts failed miserably... Today there ONLY identity is that they appear on TV wearing those flashy suits and talk about cricket in a desperate attempt to make their own small place in Indian cricket history...

BAN THESE JOKERS...!!! They are a disgrace and should not be allowed to speak on Indian cricket or share space with cricketing greats like Gavaskar, Kapil, Akram, Waqar, Richards, Chappell etc.... They are just cheap publicity mongers who then go around capitalizing on such appearances for their own financial benefits...

True..I dont what these guys are talking now about things that Indian team should do. They have never played and done things like they were talking about now. It even surprises me how the TV channels take these guys as commentators or analys'ers. Its just they might come for cheaper price than the big stars like Gavaskar, Kapil or other stars.
