media and cricket
by Ganesh R on Sep 19, 2007 04:36 PM

Yes!! cricket is an entertainer and there is nothing bad in people voicing their opionions. The media to an extent is to blame for all the negative things. In fact if you read the newspapers , you will find that they are putting contradicting articles to gain readership, whereby creating pressure on the board and the cricketers who follow them.
Dravid is by no means a great captain. He inherited a good team . He is defintitely a good , honest , committed player. His decision to keep sehwag in the team when sehwag was at his worst form has created doubts on his judgement.Players keep getting into and out of form . Its the realistic attitude which helps in running a team.
Risk is something that one has to take while making decisions and Dravid cant do that for whatever reasons best known to him.The lesser the risk taken , the lesser the returns goes the saying.

Here we go again

This shows that Dhoni may not last long either. He lost one game and that too a 20-20 crap game and people are calling for his head. This is the plight of the over-reacting, over-exagerated, over-expectations oriented, and over-enthusiastic Indian population. They dont really need to understand anything according to them. They can pass judgement on anyone just because they have a mouth or a pen in case of journalists.

God save these people.

agarkar a fool
by Aravind sai on Sep 17, 2007 09:38 PM  | Hide replies

Agrakar is burden for this team...
He neither bats well nor bowls well........

I think in my opinion, it agarkar should b replaced with yusuf pathan or Jogindar sharma...........

Yusuf pathan is very big hitter.........

All teams are emphasizing on allrounders and india is keeping its allrounders in the reserve bench

both yusuf pathan and J.sharma are good allrounders............

TWENTY 20
by naveen on Sep 17, 2007 08:49 PM  | Hide replies

The best team for twenty20 in batting order

1.Shewag
2.Gambir
3.Uttappa
4.Yusuf pathan
5.Yuvraj
6.Dhoni
7.Irfan pathan
8.Rohit sharma
9.Harbajan
10.Jogindar Sharma
11.R.P.Singh

Dont even keep AGARKAR as 12th man.

It's very important to keep extra bastman in twenty20. 5 regular bowlers will not work in this game. Allrounders are very important!!USE ALL OUR ALLROUNDERS IN THE 11.

Remember... even if we have 8 batsman, Atleast 3 or 4 will end up in single digits. So we have only 4 batsman to score big innings in evry match!

Mr. Dhoni....Dont you know this?????

Thought as much!

Just a couple of days back, I had said that the absence of the three favorite whip-boys of Indian cricket is not going to stop the critics... and that the next target is going to be Dhoni... Ours is a nation of miracles!! We need one everyday... Every cricketer has to win his match by giving 200%, even if we don't give our 100% in our work... The police force has to nab every criminal, even if we would want to settle it with the street-pandus for some kharcha-paani when caught breaking the signal... the municipal corporation has to keep the city spick n span, even if we throw wrappers, cigarette-butts and paan-spits around...
For once, let's give others a chance, yaar... Dhoni & co. lost, but they did give a fight, let's appreciate that... India doesn't reach a score of 180 in 20 overs everyday... Our support is going to raise their spirits, too... Time and again, I've see, when India wins, there are around 200 messages on the board, out of which around 70% is dedicated to either blasting those who did not perform or saying that the victory is a flash in the pan or that the match was fixed... But when India loses, the message count goes to 800-1000!
For once, let's try the support route... not just to the cricketers, but also to the system that governs our everyday life... Things would look much better... life won't be this bitter...
Sorry for the outpour, but just couldn't handle it anymore...
Thanks for the patience to go through it.
Cheers,
Sree

Well said, We expect more than the other cricket playing nations across the world. We are fanatics sometimes. We tend to forget that cricket is just a game and there are defeats and victories...........

that is the problem with we indians. we always are satisfied with 2nd best or whatsoever and we dont want to be the best. thats why leave alone cricket in any other field we are not the number 1 and your comment is the sole proof of it.

Sorry, Mr. Subbu... I completely disagree with your comment... Nowhere have I mentioned that its ok to be second best... What I said that the chase given by the team was appreciable... they did not get overwhelmed by the total put up by NZ and crumble to a 110 all out kind of scenario... They fought till the end...
In fact, your comment proves what I had said about miracles... A few days back, you weren't even giving India a chance in the cup... But one victory against Pakistan, and you wanted the miracles to pour in again... India should win every goddamn match... The plain and simple fact is that India was putplayed by the experience of Vettori... and if you don't want to concede that, then you definitely have a problem.

Dhoni is responsible
by subbu on Sep 17, 2007 06:48 PM  | Hide replies

Dhoni is entirely responsible for defeat. When u look at the margin of defeat, it is only 10 runs. A couple of boundaries hit at the right time would have changed everything and the man who is capable of hitting those boundaries(Dhoni) was taking singles and twos like he is playing in 50 overs cricket. If Dhoni would have played well and stepped up the run rate India could have easily won yesterday. There is no time in 20-20 to drop anchor and rotate strike. it is a hit out or get out type of game. I hope Dhoni would realize that atleast in the next 2 games as he would definitely facing a similar total in atleast one with the kind of bowlers we have.
