Borde's Feat
by prakash mohanasundaram on Sep 18, 2007 11:26 AM

I love reading Borde's statements and interviews cos its eazy reading. You dont have to think hard, read in between lines etc when he speaks. Cos he does not answer at all. It is empty. He has the knack of speaking a lot without making any sense at all.

Not only we lost attaking wicketkeepar batsman of indian cricket history, we also lost the series before it starts.
Its already proved by Dhoni in T20 world cup that he is not metured enough/does't have enough experience to lead the team.

Saurav would have been ideal choice in my opinion

saurav would have been a good choice for word games but not for cricket.with his kind of fitness none in the team will respect him. and once again he bring kids like parthiv patel to carry his bags and enjoy....

Whatever one might say Dravid was an excellent human. His communication skills batting ability encouraging new team members was like that of a corporate ceo. Agarkar and harbajan were the only black sheeps you cant win a maTCH with 10 players

A captain has to have strong mental strength, the guts to call spade a spade, that Dravid didn't have. He was meek as captain.

Ramesh Powar has done well almost each time he was given the chance. He is a genuine spinner. Now, you might have not heard or have the time to track his record, that's a different issue. Please look beyond appearances, atleast beyond those red/yellow glasses he wears.

dude he was the manager in the recent tour and he needs to be diplomatic otherwise our notorious media will kill this old man with controversies.....

More or less almost every celebrity is trying to be diplomatic and trying to avoid controversies by pin-pointing something.......

I am sure any sensible person will give similar answers for these questions.....

Shame on Rediff for trying to mis-lead the readers. The Title for this column is wrong. Bad way to gain some cheap publicity.

Yes its pathetic how they have changed the meaning. This is what gives journalism a bad name and reason why people no longer trust the media. Borde meant it in a postive way but Rediff took the snippet out and made it look negative!

A better title would have been "Rahul led from the front"!!

Looks like the journalist was biased and wanted to give his own views and use Chandu Borde's shoulders to fire the gun.

What a shame on media and rediff for such cheap tactics! First learn ethics then come to write stories.

Dear Friend, this is exactly what's stopping our progress. We have a media which lacks self image. Our media is so self critical and immature. Look how western media treats its own leaders and informs its people. Check how an Australian media prepares when its Cricket Team tours India. The Aus tour of India during 2001 was perfect case in point. Saurav and his team had to not only fight it out against 11 Australians, but whole of Aus media, rather pathetically our own overtly self critical Indian media. And this put our Indian umpires under pressure. And we hardly did anything when Michael Slater was so mis-behaving in the first test. Indian media does not educate our masses, and instead rakes up trivial issues to inappropriate proportions to gain some cheap publicity. That's what people do when they lack a vision and self-image.

I second this reader's thoughts as the sole reason for me to have taken a peek into this article was the headline. I got to know the context in which Mr. Borde had made those comments only towards the end of it. And yes. He has just tried to highlight some good qualities of Dravid and hasnt tried to deface him as the headline suggest. Guys at Rediff, I have been an ardent fan of yur site ever since it was launched. But I am afraid, I have to say this.. You guys are messing up your own reputation by cming up with these kind of cheap stuff. This is definitely not expected of you guys. Grow up.

For sure you are referring to Agarkar. In the next match he may concede less than 60 runs and make Sharad Pawar, Vengsarkar, Shastri and Borde happy.

see guys mistake is not with board, it is with dhoni, why he opted out piyush out i dont know, especially between 10 to 16 overs he would be excellent and takes lot of wickets especially in this form of cricket. srisanth, rp, pathan, why the hell three facesr especially rp whn pathan in, . come on dhoni use slower bowlers that too especially team like NZ which always struggled to face shane warne, u kept piyush out, it is a joke. play only two seamers and rest batsman with sehwag bowling his full quota,
come on dhoni, use piyush.

There is a big difference of CHARACTER between them... Manmohan Singh as our Hon. PM withstood many unreasonable demands created by left front for several years.. however Dravid could not withstand the pressures and chose to abruptly quit without notice...sounds irresponsible, no?

Rajni Great
hi
by Rajni Great on Sep 18, 2007 12:59 AM  | Hide replies

Let me explain you, how India messed themselves up. Their calculation is pathetic. Dhoni is pathetic. While playing that match against Pakistan, Bangladesh already qualified. If we had lost the match against Pakistan, we would been in a group with Bangladesh, Australia and Sri Lanka and because we won the match, we are in England, New Zealand and SA group.

Now Pakistan has beaten Lanka, and with one more win with Banladesh, they will be in semi final, whereas we lost against New Zealand and one more loss will put India out of this world cup. And with England and south Africa, it is going to be very difficult. So please, give last farewell to India team and great Agarkar for his contribution to Indian team and taking this Indian cricket to new height. Pakistan lost the match deliberately to India, because they were already qualified for super 8 and unlike other world cup, where team takes that points in super 8, here no team carried points in the super 8 for beating other team. So now, there is high chances that India will be out of this world cup and Pakistan will surely go in for semi final at least? A win against Pakistan actually served bad for India. Now who are educated dumbs?

Jai BCCI, Jai Agarkar and Jai Pawar

erm you are the educated dumb, if u get ure facts right, whatever happened in the india pakistan match, the groups would have been the same. the groups for super 8 were decided before.

http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/twenty20wc/content/story/306294.html

look at the table and read below it. and also, what kind of team deliberately loses? if india had done this, media would have gone gaga over it.

why calling rajni dumb it is you Mr. Jayanth who is dumbass who just copied and pasted the points table of the team but not the actual points. Man check what you write first, it is the empty table only filles up later on after the completion of the matches. So Pakistan did the right thing by losing the game against India.

Yeah. Imagine International class bowlers missing 3 out of 3.Sure even I could hit the wickets 6 out of 6 balls. They qualified but went into the group with Bangladesh!!!!Anyway, which ever group we were in, we are no match for SL, SA or Australia in 20-20.So, after our next loss to England its TA TA India.Having a Wicket Keeper captain is stupid.
