Fleming was replaced as captain by the younger Vettori after World Cup 2007, although NZ went to semifinals .
However India still retains the 'loser' Dravid as ODI skipper although India did not even reach second round in World Cup after losing to Bangladesh. It appears Dravid is a better captain than Fleming according to BCCI selectors.
Dravid would have been sacked from captaincy after WC 2007 due to his bad results in any other country.
I think Fleming is one of the best captains if not the best, in the contemporary cricket. He gave us a lot to cherish and wonder about his captaincy skills, had a plan for each & every batsman and gelled the team to really give nightmares to Austrailians, the world Champs. I think Vettori can't match whatever Fleming did to Newzealand cricket. But, let's wait & watch.
Fleming has been the best captain of the world for long. His ability to place the right fielding for the every batsmen shows the level of understanding of the each batsmen\'s strength and weaknesses. He will be missed a lot by the world of cricket and the most by the new zealand cricket. Vettori is no match for fleming.

Best captain is always Sourav Ganguly.....Dada captained Team India to 21 wins in just 49 matches over only 4.5 years...

i am a non BEN GOLI but i have no doubt in saying DADA was the best Captain as he made India a formidable on foreign turfs aswell...

i definitely agree wid JOYDEEP and mitras..... and i want to let u know, i am a north indian... ganguly had the unique qualities of aggression and team building...and i am yet to see both of them in any indian captain.... dravid is definitely no match for ganguly...

no doubt azhar was too gud.. probably the best captain india had.. I don agree with those people who sayz ganguly was the best. Itz enough for ganguly that he is playing international cricekt. Havent u seen him against fast bowling , he fails miserably

guys, Azhar did his best to win with the team he had. but Ganguly built a winning team which went all the way to the finals of the 2003 world cup. so who du u think is better.

agree. i wud definitely vouch for sourav ganguly as the best captain India has had in recent years. far ahead when compared to azhar. azhar had only succeeded in winning matches at home. show me one test match he has won abroad - outside of the subcontinent(we only won against sri lanka under him).
anyways, i still wonder why when someone praises or supports ganguly, hes branded a ben-gali or ben-goli or bong or watever. get a life guys. stop this regionalism.
lest you guys think im a bengali - I'M AN INDIAN from HYDERABAD.
