Forgive me fans.
by S Ramanujam on Sep 10, 2007 08:44 PM

Forgive me fans.

I am sorry I called Romesh Powar Kala Bhains.

I called Rahul crossbreed and that Kannadigas cannot be relied upon.

I express my heartfelt sympathy and unconditional apology for my remarks like this.
I admit that I have done a great mistake.

Actually I smoked one potful of Marijuana and then finished one full bottle of country liquor.
Under the spell of these intoxicating things I ccommited an offence.
Please forgive me Rahul lovers and Romesh lovers.
Excuse me please.

My one day team should be...
by Manoj Joseph on Sep 10, 2007 11:41 AM  | Hide replies

The one day team for the next world cup should be...

1. V. Sehwag (hope he will gain his
destructive form back)
2. R. Uthappa
3. M.S. Dhoni (wk & captain)
4. Yuvraj Singh
5. Mohd. Kaif
6. Suresh Raina
7. Irfan Pathan (vice captain) (hope he will
get back form)
8. Ramesh Pawar
9. Piyush Chawla
10. Zaheer Khan / Munaf Patel
11. R.P. Singh / S. Sree Santh

The four fast bowlers at sl. number 10 and 11 should be rotated and selected according to the pitch conditions / availability.

It is more or less sure that the big three (Dravid, Tendulkar and Ganguly) and Agarkar will be out of the team by 2011... So, they are not included.

Any comments??

Dravid and his big 'duck' in final ODI
by pushpak sarkar on Sep 10, 2007 06:11 AM  | Hide replies

Dravid made such a big fuss after scoring a duck in the final ODI by umpire Aleem Dar ..

Unfortunately snickometer later confirmed Dravid was out fair and square...so no lame excuses from Dravid anymore and he later admitted at a press conference..that he was given OUT correctly by the umpire.

LOSER!!!!!!!

3.6      Broad to Ganguly, no run, And again. Again the feet were struck adhesively to the crease - Fevicol should consider signing him up - and he had a wild flash. Jokes apart, Ganguly has been in pretty good form in the series? not tested by pace bowlers which they are doing to this harmless player. only today, he is going too hard at them.
5.6      Broad to Ganguly, 1 run, Ganguly is having a lucky day. He should have tried his luck with betting on the horses. Another short one, over the middle stump, Ganguly backs away to the leg side, tries to upper cut it over the off side but only manages to lob it over backward point and some how, it lands safely
Cricinfo's wags are suggesting that Ganguly's batting suggests he thinks the Twenty20 has already started... and he's not even in the team.

6.1      Anderson to Ganguly, OUT, His luck runs out finally. Full in length, slanting away from him and he had a lame poke at it with an open-face of the bat and it went low to the second slip.
is he an international class player?

Check the career ODI statistics before you make such silly remarks ..Ganguly has scored more than 11000 ODIruns with 22 centuries and strike rate of 73. This is only second best ODI record in world (after Sachin) .

Incidentally all these ODI stats are far superior to Dravid...however RD has better avg. in tests compared to Sachin and Ganguly.

SACKING DRAVID IS A MUST!
by pushpak sarkar on Sep 10, 2007 05:23 AM  | Hide replies

India should sack Dravid as captain immediately.

The team is now ranked 6th in ODI behind even Pakistan ( a team that is completely rudderless after exit of Inzi and Yousuf).

For the record in 2007 , India has been humiliated successively in major ODI series - first losing in South Africa 5-0, FIRST ROUND LOSSES in ICC cup, getting humiliated in World Cup after losing to Bangladesh ( a captaincy record for an indian captain!). Even in Natwest series India paid the price for Dravid's stupid decisions like asking Yuvraj to bowl final over in 6th ODI or taking 2 spinners in final ODI given the weather condition at Lords (instead of selecting 3 pacers like England). Of course with such a team selection, Dravid then had no option but to bat first on winning the toss under overcast conditions suitable for seamers.

Dravid is defensive by nature where as in todays game you need much more than being aggressive. Needs to belive in you and your team. Dravid has nun of this. He drew the last match and celebrated the series win.

Ashish, 20/20 is anybody game. Any team can do wonders in couple of overs and win the match. 20/20 game will turn upside down if a team has couple of good overs or bad overs

Fair Assessment of Indian Cricket Team form
by Rajeev Iyer on Sep 09, 2007 11:58 PM  | Hide replies

The ICC rankings put things into the correct perspective. We are only 6th in the World because we win only 25%-33% of the time, and 5 other teams in the world are better than us. In the individual rankings also, we think our Sachin is the best in the world whereas his performances show him to only be as good as #12. We do not have even a single bowler in the top 20. In fact we are so bad that we have given the team below us in the rankings, ie England, a series win and perhaps in the near future they will also overtake us and drop us down to 7th.

Therefore let us not have too many expectations from this Indian Cricket team. If they win more than 25% of their games then we should be happy because that is all they are capable of. Instead of having a nation-load of stressed-out cricket fans who do not know how to control their expectations and instead expect this mediocre team to win each time they play.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
================

During the live coverage of the Natwest ODI series between England and India, the channels were showing the top five batting performances of some of the batsmen. It was interesting (should one say revealing?) to see that out of the top 5 innings of Sachin, 3 are against Zimbabwe, Namibia and Bangladesh, while in the case of Ganguly, out of his own top 5 innings, only one was against Zimbabwe and remaining four were against better / stronger teams.

We also lose nowadays because of an imbecile captain who is usually indecisive and often experimenting ....like his guru Chappell

ratings are farce
by suresh on Sep 09, 2007 08:19 PM  | Hide replies

The system of rating based on god knows what permutations and combinations is absolutely way off the mark when it comes to picking people on their real capabilities. Some spots are justified as in the case of Shaun pollock, Ponting, bracken, hussey etc. However Tendulkar at 12????????? he should be higher up at say 6 or 7. This is also contrary to the comparison often made betweeen bradman and tendulkar. Some freaks have gone on record disputing bradman's position as the all time great. Infact they believe tendulkar is the one. Sachin is a good batsman. He isnt the best in the game today. Modern day cricket requires skills to suit the requirement of the situation of the match. Hussey like beven is one guy who can turn the match on tis headd. hence he deserves higher spot. So is ponting. Tendulkar though scores tons of runs doesnt always come to thee rescue of the team. It is just the hype which makes him a god. Dhoni is another victim of excess hype by the media andd public. The guy is just average and they already compare him with adam gilchrist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it takes one good knock from an indian player and he is better than bradman ....millions of avid cricket fans can see the discrepencies.

Enough is Enough. Tenndulkar is the best. Full stop. Tony Greg puts it the best way. He says, there is Tendulkar, then daylihgt, then others.

You seem to know better about Tendulkar than Bradman, Lara, Warne or Steve Waugh or Ponting himslef.

Do you write becasue The God gave you hands? He gave you a brain too. Use it for a change
