Sachin you are nowhere near your peak...
by Dev Tyagi on Sep 12, 2007 02:07 PM

if there is one gentleman who features regularly in the discussions taking place at the local pan beedi shop just around your house, to the tumultuous discussions happening all day in the cafeteria in your prestigious college or even the domestic households of this magnanimuous cricket frenzy country, then that's not the great don of cricket (bradman), not even the graceful W.G. Grace or the ever flashy brian lara, it is sachin tendulkar. such is the hype sorrounding the genius and justifyingly so, that he remains in talks even when he does not perform out in the field, let alone the fever that his magical MRF blade generates when he shuts up and lets his bat alone do the talking. to his team he has been holding the centrestage despite the odd day or consistent brilliance of someone who we fondly call as " the wall", or the princely dominance of the "Sultan of the off side" or even the sudden meteoric upsurge of the "Jharkhand smasher". sachin tendulkar is undoubtedly a modern day phenomennon . come any cricket season , and he tops the nightmare list for the most fearsome bowlers from all over, and what to say about the end of the series, as by that time, his sheer presence lifts the moods and turns the eyeballs of the millions of the frenzy followers of this crunch sport. in the past 4 years, one could make out that the gruesome schedule and the quantity of the sport had taken a toll on the little genius but then the maestro had other plans. he played and mesmerised once aga

An open letter to Sachin

Sachin, You r a geninus batsman. You have served India for 18 years, which is more than the people in the defense forces serve for the country. My wife gave birth to a son in the same year of ur debut in International cricket. We have seen ur heroics, ur smiles, ur swashbuckling shots, ur failures, ur marriage, and ur 100s in these years. We have been constantly appreciating ur determination to play for India. People gave u different names in different occasions - master blaster, little master, little wonder etc.. You were fortunate enough to get the maximum 100s in ODI and in test cricket. You were also equally fortunate to be in the top slot in the highly prized Shane warne's top 50. You r really an amazing person. But, there should be an end to everything. Bradman ended his career when he was at the peak of his form. Glenn McGrath left the Australia when he was still an indispensable asset for australia. Now, u have a wonderful opportunity to retire when u r at the peak form. U can play as long as u can in domestic cricket. My son is now 18 yrs old. He plays cricket well. He also nurtures hopes for playing for india. There are many other young kids who want to follow ur legacy and to uphold the winning tradition for india. Since, cricket team consists of only 11 players, some really talented persons will be left out off the field. So, please consider the retirement and help indian cricket to grow.

Jai Hind!!!!

sssyy,

Hope you don't get operated like many others by one MR.AAA.

I think he is one of the wannabe doctors. Since he hasn't become one (that too a brain surgeon - this would be best ever comedy taking the top slot even before dada's running between the wickets), he has chosen this forum to operate each and everyone of us who come out and ask Sachin to retire.

I am also one of firm beleivers who think Sachin should retire after this Eng series.

I appreciate your courage to come forward to get operated by MR.AAA

tendulkar to retire- the gods must be crazy!
by Dev Tyagi on Sep 07, 2007 08:51 PM  | Hide replies

if i were to tell you , that from tomorrow you will be not served the regular office lunch, how would you feel? if i were to tell you that the government has decided to exempt at least 50 % more tax from your income from tomorrow, how would you feel ? further more, the news that your personal mobile phone will be snapped from your hands and be given to you without it's batteries and that 2 after a month, wouldn't it be 2 much 2 handle... now take these 3 things together and imagine what will be the aftermaths in ur life had these problems struck u all together. so the point that i9 am trying toi make here is that the very retirement of tendulkar will be a much gigantic problem that will strike almost a demostic catastrophe in every possible indian household. should tendulkar retire, then considering the current inexperience that the team carries with it, notwithstanding the running down the hill age of senior stalwarts , like dravid and ganguly, the entire team will hit the rock bottom. tendulkar has always managed to get to bounce back despite having flawed, and that 2 off late quite evidently, in pivotal tournaments. but this time, the world and most importantly the "highly desperate to catch a flaw" critic has been slapped, with great zeal, by the tendulkar willow. sachin is not only the the little genius but infact his prowess over the game is such that it commands respect, catches pride and quite deservingly so, scales the never ending spree of previously unheard of

Dev Tyagi,

Well said!

Well said that Team India will hit the rock bottom when Sachin retires!

I have a couple of questions.

When are we (you) going to develop a team?

Why are we (you) going stop depending on only one person?

We should have team. If we have a LEGEND like Sachin in our team, that's fine.

IS THIS NOT THE RIGHT TIME FOR US TO DEVELOP A TEAM, DEV?

Look at Australia!

Since, Allan Border days, they've changed the captaincy and the team so well that they are still number one. NUMERO UNO IN BOTH VERSIONS OF THE GAME. (Let's wait and see who will top them in 20 20 format)
Australians beleived in A TEAM and they succeeded.

Despite having a LEGEND like Sachin, we are not even close to TOP SLOT.

Dev,
ALL WE NEED IS A TEAM!

That's why number seven or six batsmen like Uthappa, Jadeja, Kaif, Karim and many others play well to win the match in crunch situations we hail them as heros and throw away the same bunch as zeros when fail to perform.

But Australians perform like a TEAM to reatin their NUMBER ONE SLOT.

MOM
by Indra Sengupta on Sep 07, 2007 08:44 PM

I missed the MOM ceremony.
It would have been nice if Uthuppa was given any special ovation or called specially by somebody to the dias.
Did Sachin call him while receiving the award.
It would have been nice to receive appreciation from the seniors before millions of game watchers.

There was 3 contenders for MOM in 6th ODI
1. Owaish Shah for his brilliant century with 2 wkts
2. Sachin Tendulkar for his 94 from 81 balls.
3. Robin Uthappa for match winning 47 not out of just 33 balls.

Anyone could have got the MOM as there is no standard or concrete rule for judging MOM. But tendulkar was the real hero for Team INDIA who gave solid and flying start to TEAM INDIA innings!

yes u r right
if sachin had not given a great opening then india would have been struggling
uthappa also deserves a special mention as he was the one who did the last work
94 of 81 balls is not a joke man
