Dravid is not a martyr!
by K Chandru on Oct 16, 2007 11:26 PM

There's no room for sentiments or emotions here. The problem with Indian cricket is `all said and nothing done' attitude of the men concerned. Mr. Pawar mentioned about `ROTATION' policy which was conviniently forgotten with time and Vengsarkar, the chairman of selection committee warned the players sternly to perform or to perish and none perished despite consistent poor performance. The young hopefuls are waiting in the lurch, unsure of their fate ahead and what more to do to don India colours. We're cowards. Our administrators lack the wisdom, vision and courage that their Australian or Soth African counterparts have. Even the spectators! Why are we emotionally attached to certain players? They're professionals and they do their job for a price and they're not doing any honorary service for the nation. No need to get so much attached to them. We need not respect our `heroes' of many lost battlles, at the cost of the pride of our nation and at the cost of losing many more series. Someone wrote here like, "instead of blaming Dravid for his failures, we should help him get over them". Why are we attached to these players? What do they give us in return? a reckless shot,a dropped catch,a shy at the stump. Are we so attached to other sportpersons too? Did we sympathize with our hockey players when they were losing continuously? If a once best student consistently performs bad in the exams, would we still give him 1st rank? Dravid needs to be dropped and that's final.

Badrinath to replace Dravid.

Its official. That innings could be Dravid's last innings for India in a ODI.

Vengsarkar is adamant of dropping him and froom now on Dravid needs to score in tests consistently to be in reckoning in all forms of game

It is not Vengasarkar. With the emergence of new talents, Dravid no longer has a place in India best ODI team. Even earlier he was playing in ODI due to non-availability of better players. Dravid is a genuine test playing batsman and he will continue to do well in test matches.

India Vs. Australia
by Ashish Kumar on Oct 16, 2007 04:51 PM  | Hide replies

The Aussies might have clinched the series but I do not think they are a stronger side. Indian team loses because the selection committee and the captain are forced to make choices for non-cricketing reasons. Otherwise no one can rationally explain what Rahul Dravid and Sri Santh were doing in the side at Ahmedabad. I believe both will be dropped for Mumbai match and I am 90% certain team India will win the match. Let us not forget that our second grade team (which did not include our best players like Sachin, Saurav and Zahir) defeated the Aussies in the T20 match.

The Indians, who have already lost the series with one match left, did not go to the hotel room and preferred to remain at nets.

They're fit only to bowl and bat at the nets.
