Destiny plays cruel games at times...
by K Chandru on Oct 13, 2007 09:56 PM

By opting out from the T20 world cup, the BIG 3 have dug their own graves. Had they played, India wouldn't have won the tournament or even would have perished earlier in the tournament, had they played. There wouldn't have been any pressure on Team India in the current and forthcoming series against Pakistan and then the subsequent series down under. No one would have the expected India to win. Carrying the expectations of the whole nation on their ageing shoulders, the really find it very difficult to live up to it. None blames if Uthappa or DK or Rohit Sharma fails. But, if a Sachin or Saurav or Dravid fails, people are demanding for their blood. Part and parcel of being Gods! This is just the other side of the coin. When the stole all the limelights so far reaped rich dividends for their super star status, they do deserve this treatment meted out to them as well. You need to perform consistently to deserve any super status. A good innings here and one there won't do. May be, it's time we get to see new super stars taking over and the aged ones settle to playing second fiddle. Zaheer too deserves to be demoted in the gradings as he's not proving to be a match winner. It's time, youngsters in the team learn to play a responsible game and enjoy playing for the country. No use blaming the ageing heroes alone. Do not come up with excuses. Face the challenges ahead boldly and become heroes yourself! We're looking for heroes to worship and there's a dearth of them right now.

Give rest to Dravid
by Ananthakrishnan V on Oct 13, 2007 02:38 PM  | Hide replies

Enough is enough. He is not performing in this series. Maybe he needs some rest. So it is better to keep him for longer version of the game & encourage youngsters who r not able to play because of the seniors.

I would also like to retian the 20-20 team for 50-50 also because anyway we r losing our matches even with the seniors. So lets give chance to youngsters so that they can learn international cricket before the seniors retire.

Anyways My team for Nagpur will be :
1. Ganguly
2. Sachin
3. Dhoni
4. Yuvraj
5. Uthappa
6. Pathan
7. Harbhajan
8. Zaheer
9. Sreesanth
10.Badrinath
11.Murali Karthik

Yes the rest is really required for rahul dravid as he is out of form now. We have to retain the team which played in 20-20 series

Let Sreesanth play!
by K Chandru on Oct 13, 2007 01:13 PM  | Hide replies

Bring back Sreesanth! Ausies get tensed up even if he conducts himself and sports a smile!

What's the use of so called `sound' technique, if it is not yielding any results? Don't you think 44 runs from 5 consecutive matches means, Dravid is struggling? Give him a break! Break will do him a lot good. The rotation policy does two good things by itself. It avoids early burnup due to playing excessive cricket and gives fair chances to those waiting for their turns. Afterall, Team India cap is nobody's birth right. You need to have it in you and perform to don India colours. It's not bestowed to someone based on past laurels! There's no room for emotions and sentiments here. Dravid has become a burden, a liability to the team now. Should we give chance for another five matches for him to strike form?

My Team will be :

1. Saurav / Sehwag
2. Sachin
3. Uthappa
4. Yuvaraj
5. Badrinath
6. Dhoni
7. Irfan Pathan
8. Murali Karthik
9. Harbhajan
10. R.P. Singh
11. Sreesanth (Ausies get tensed at the very sight of him and commit mistakes)
12. Dinesh Karthik

scores against minnows and masala matches

Dravid 95 in 6 matches at an average of 31.66

Dravid 708 runs in 22 matches at an average of 41.64
Sachin 879 runs in 21 matches at an average of 43.95

Dravid Overall strike rate is nice 82.36
Sachin Overall strike rate is handsome 85.24

What a great wisdom by Ganguly to increase averages at poor strike rate very very slowly, as per ODI dtandards

Here is detailed scores of Ganguly very very great Ganguly against minnows and masala matches

66 v BD at Port of Spain
89 v Ber at Port of Spain
32 v Afr masala match at Bangalore
88 v Afr masala match at Chennai

Just great Dada is greatest king against minnows ......

Australia are far superior in every department!!
by Bhasmasur on Oct 13, 2007 12:26 PM  | Hide replies

Australia have overwhelmed India in this ODI series till now!! They are far better than us and had it not been for the rain in Bangalore, the series would have been decided 4-1 in the favor of the Aussies!!
Let us not delude ourselves into thinking that we can actually square the series!!
That was England and this is Australia!!
India are not even close to the Aussies in terms of fitness, speed, agility, pressure handling, shot execution, death overs bowling etc..
I cannot think of a single area where we enjoy a distinct advantage!!
Hayden and Gilly go for the jugular right from ball one...Sachin potters around for eternity..

Mitchell Johnson and Lee bowl at 150 plus, our guys struggle to hit 140....

Even the slender advantage we enjoy in D/N matches has been taken away by stupid opportunistic scheduling by BCCI!!
These are day matches cos the BCCI does not have the money to build facilities at smaller centres... haha, where does ll the money go in that case??
Into the pockets of Pawar, Niranjan Shah and Ratnakar shetty??.....

BCCI - Bes*haram Chalu Ch&utiyas of India

Oh yeah...so why dont they play the pussy cat. He is still the highest wicket taker in this series for India. They dont want to play him because he is relentless and will find a ay to make the aussies see red again.

No worries, man. This indian team has got under the skin of the aussies, a bit. They had to pull all the stops to win at vodora. They will come thru. in the next match, if they play their normal game.

Well. Rajput has a right to speak his mind like you do. You probably have been listenitn to Niranjan Shah too much and perhaps caught a bad habit from BCCI asking people to shut up.

Aggression Vs Performance
by santosh srivastav on Oct 13, 2007 07:35 AM

A new addition to our team is Aggression is it really needed?

May be yes to play against teams like AUS and Eng but when you show so much of aggresssion even you shud show the same in performance...

With our Aggression the Oz's are Ghayal sher who are waiting to rip-off indian team...and team india most of the time on receiving end.

I would appreciate if they can plan the game and improve thr game rather doing all this drama....

They keep calling our players as boys ..

What an Idiot this Rajput is.
He needs a course in psychology.
Having confidence is not of going around and telling everybody that we are very confident.

Also It is time to address these young men as Men.

If you call them boys, they 'll only behave like boys.

calling Boys started with that chor Azhar

ever since that, all of them call the players boys. this chu*tiya Dhobi (I mean Dhoni) himself is a boy, and is calling the rest of the players as boys (with Ganguly, SRT etc )being about 10 years older than him

and in terms of the series, of course we are going to level it. that is how the entire script of the fixing has been written. defeat the Indi team till hte 5th match so that everyone is down, and then win the last two so that all the excitement comes in and the series ends with all the people happy and they would completely forget this last match and the past.

this has been the story forever, and looks like the story to come

Nice try. Its not as if Rajput went to Rediff's office and told them we'll win.

Don't you have the understanding of news reporters work? I am not judging the way they work, but you should've known this before offering courses in psychology.

If opening stand is key to india's success.... how many matches india could get that solid opening parterships out of 10..... I think hardly 3-4.In those 3-4 matches ....how many times can india capitalise solid opening partnership..... hardly 1-2 times..... by Mr. RAjput views......india can only win 1-2 matches out of 10....

You've a "key" to this mansion, doesn't mean you could go in and sleep.

Opening partnership is a key, and can you deny that?
