that Manjrekar did not have any say in this. I guess he is also kicked out from Pakistan and has now taken shelter in SL. Looking at his comments about lankans, I guess it will be time he needs to run to Oz.

Inzy..Well done
by rajksjfk on Oct 13, 2007 12:39 PM

Inzy was a true MATCH WINNER...he could win matches single handedly...like the wc semifinal in 1992...never played for records as our heroes like sachin do...

He arrived with a bang in the 1992 world cup as a strong dashing stroke maker who could decimate even the best bowling attack. Those days Pakistan team was very different. To a then young and ignorant Indian Boy like me, the names Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram were similar to Amjad Khan,Amrish Puri,M.N.Nambiar and other baddies of filmdom. During that time for me Inzamam was also another Pakistani to be added to the list.In fact then i thought Pakistan was from another planet.Age, maturity, exposure and technology enabled me to change my opinion. Actually this opinion took a while to change. Till then i thought Inzi or the evil inzi was a big mean demon from another planet(Pakistan). This changed after listening to one of his interviews. BTW my perceptions came crashing down. It was shocking to hear him be so simple, down to earth and soft spoken. In fact it made me realize he was no mean demon but just a nice human being. It took me days to even digest that interview. The whole world knows his cricketing skills so am not even gonna talk about it. But it is his on the field persona. He was gentle yet tough but not threatening. He like many great players had an aura around him. His presence in the crease was majestic.Entering the 30' saw a transformation with Inzamam playing mentor to the young members and becoming the rock solid anchor of the Pakistan Team along with the Charismatic Younis and the gifted Yousuf.I would say IT IS END OF AN ERA. Thank you Inzamam

yea true but the sort of performances he gave he still stands top among the leading cricketers of the time. His timing and how late he used to play is even admired by Tendu. In pakistan in 2005 during one dinner i saw Inzi telling something to tendu,it was an intense chat. Later when tendu was asked what was that all about,he said i asked and got some tips how to play the ball late and he said coz of his height he wont be able to do what inzi can do. Inzi said that it was great that the Maestro had asked him something and he felt great of telling him and got some tips from tendu! such is the level of respect these greats have for each other.I saw all with my own eyes since i was there in the dinner.
In an interview ganguly said that he like saeed anwar and his best pals with inzi, like shoaib akhtar is a best pal of Yuvi!
Inzimam when was selected,it was said by imran that i have found a Viv Richards fro pakistan! no doubt he proved that. But subsequent politics in cricket did not utilise his best talent!
But anyhow he was and i guess still his one of the best timers and hitters of the cricket ball! he will be missed and remembered for his runouts and humble yet killer instincts!never ever played for personal glory but just for the country he played for.
Likes of Tendu,Dravid Ganguly Inzi, saeed , jayasuria, lara in recent modern cricket will never be forgotten! they are masters with each having their wn trade mark and unique abilities, all uncomparable!
I am so luc

how do u say that, did Sachin or Lara help win the WCUP for their teams.

Inzi has scored over 11000 runs in ODIs and 8830 runs in tests and most innings are match winning inngs, still he hasnt lived up to expectations?how does that apply?

Raman yea Inzi's winning ratio is 78% in matches he scored! hes in all time greats list among top 5! Tendu on lesser accounts but Lara on more accounts played more for records!they have records but they werent able to clinch the WC for their teams! not everyone gets the glory!see he fell 2 runs short of miandads tally! Tendu has highest score but no WC win same with Lara and here inzi falls behind them in runs! but as imran puts in "what matters is to win,and who makes it happen are greats"
some stats
Highest averages in matches won(Min 3000 runs)
Player Matches Runs Average 100s 50s
Don Bradman 30 4813 130.08 23 4
Kumar Sangakkara 31 3166 87.94 11 9
Inzamam-ul-Haq 49 4690 78.16 17 20
Garry Sobers 31 3097 77.42 12 11
Rahul Dravid 36 3674 76.54 10 18

Most hundreds in matches won
Player Matches 100s 50s
Ricky Ponting 78 26 25
Steve Waugh 86 25 25
Don Bradman 30 23 4
Matthew Hayden 64 21 19
Inzamam-ul-Haq 49 17 20

I like imran rate him above tendu in pressure situations but since i am a pakistani some bias may come but his records speak volume about his ability! he was a true match winner!

Well not only that, these people here mention as if Inzi is a underachiever,he is not,how can 11000 ODI runs be underachievement,he is not like Graeme Hick or Carl Hooper to have talent and not perform,Inzi is one who never played for himself,he came so late down the order but scored so many runs compared to Sachin Or Lara who always batted up the order and played in like 5 WCUPS but never won it for their teams..
Inzi is just too polite, laid back and not someone to appear in millions of ads or pose in dinners with Bradman and all that to be hailed as a great despite not being one....
I wish we had players like Inzi,he is the gentle giant of Indian cricket..never sledged nor put up with sledging...

11000 ODI RUNS 8830 Test RUNS,WCUP win in 1992,numerous match winning innings in ODIS and tests,a decent record as captain with a mediocre team,a respected and liked player world wide,a god fearing man,a down to earth human being...too bad his english was bad otherwise he would be more accepted worldwide..

HE DID NOT LIVE UPTO EXPECTATIONS. Because he failed more often than clicked during crucial matches. Where as for Sachin, every match is crucial. From 1989 till today, every match is crucial. Yet he scored some 15000 odd runs of which close to half runs came in victories alone. Hence Inzi did not live upto expectations.

anil get out od ur pseudonationalism! above are stats! look at them! embrace the sport! not the nationality! they are all uncomparable!but he stands out just becoz he won so much for pakistan!no doubt tendu has records but what abt a WC?takin to finals then inzi too took pak to 1999 finals! tenu has a glory of 400 matches and 15000 runs most hundreds inzi has a glory for 17 match winning hundreds outta 25 test 100's a 78% WON RATIO FOR MATCHES HE SCORED and one WC won and one he took team to finals!when one will open archives of cric people will see inzi in 1992 wc winning team and in 1999 finals team! and for tendu 16000 runs and most matches played with highest hundreds! they are comparable both are legends! in their own ways!

the whole cricketing world including India is complaining that it was Sachin who flopped in big matches and never won wcup or major ODI tournament and ur the only one who says the opposite that Inzi flopped and sachin didnt..this is the best joke in a long long time...
check the facts, even our former greats have always felt Inzi is a better match winner than sachin and he played way below the order and scored more than 11000 runs unlike sachin who came up the order to score his first century and never won matches like Inzi did,no matter how much u brag about the 2003 finals we still lost,it will always be a black mark in sachins carrier that he never won a wcup...
no matter how many times u deny Inzis contribution in WCUP 1992 everyone knows how he became famous after that alltime great innings in semis of 92 wcup...
Inzi has not failed, only u think so,but i wont blame u,Pak is our enemy in politics so its not easy to admit the truth,i too had problems admitting some players greatness, but after a while u do need to accept it..Inzi Wasim Waqar were alltime greats, its a shame our people will call Steve Waugh or even Ponting greater than inzi but the truth is he is far better than them...
