We defeated the strongest team South Korea twice in the tournament - League and Final.
Ø We defeated South Korea In the final by 7-2 which is one of the huge margins in finals.
Ø We scored totally 56 goals and given away just 5 goals in the 7 matches that we played.
Ø We scored 20 goals in a single match against Sri Lanka and not even given away a single goal. This equaled the highest margin of
victory in Asia cup record.
Ø We remained the lone team to maintain our slate clean (Rare all-win record at pool stage) among 11 teams and topped the tough
six-team Pool B.

Rewards for this victory
Ø Individual greeting message by Our Honorable President.
Ø For the news channels and papers, it's just news.
Ø IHF had announced an incentive for the team where they would receive Rs 1000 for every goal scored and lose Rs 2000 for every goal
conceded.
Ø The state governments not even sent a congratulation note.
Is it the way of respecting our national game? Forget National Game, Indians and Media have made it impossible for other sportspersons from various fields to survive here. Hope changes take place....

abbey Donkey,
BCCI is a private business,
they took pains to develop this sports,
What has Football federation of India done?
What has Hokey federation of India done?

No one is stopping you dude, to market your game?

BCCI is not a charity, plus its a cricket BOARD, and it is only responsible for CRICKET!!

PLUS, cricket ODIs last a whole day or day/night matches durate 10 hours, which gives millions in VIEWERSHIP , thus TV Channells make money and pass off their cut to BCCI.

Can 90 minutes of Hockey or Football match that?

Chaley aatey hain bheek mangney!!

I too like cricket over hockey..
but, hockey is our national game and atleast some respect should be shown to hockey players.
i mean... even though not from the people atleast from the government to keep our national game alive.

yes, having interest in a game is a question of personal choice. but govt cant give partial treatment to other sports. merely coz ckt is popular, cktrs r paid heftily is real political decisions of the parties.
in fact, cktrs r already getting lakhs as match fees, and they may not value the monetary reward of 5-10 lakhs given by govt, but if the hocky or other sports personalities who dont earn in lakhs r given reward of 5-10 lakhs, they will be definitely elated and motivated to perform better.

dude uncle sharma,
when was the last time any hockey player's effigy was burned, when was the last time any hockey player's under construction home was destructed, when was the last time any hockey players home was thrown black paint, when was the last time any Indian hockey team won a major WORLD tournament (not the Asia cup)? With all the pressure that Indian players are going thru I have no problem when they are rewarded. They won WORLD 20/20 not a Asia 20/20.
Now another set of questions. When was the last time any hocky tournament was full house? When was the last time Hockey match has TV viewership of any significance? When was the last time your school/college arranged major hockey tournament? So, if we are not doing our job, why blame Government? Everywhere in the world the popular sports has bigger following, bigger brickbats and bigger rewards - be it Soccer, NFL (American Football) or anything.
People, go fill the stadium, watch every major Indian hockey game, start your hockey clubs the way you start cricket clubs, go to receive Hockey players the same way you go to receive Indian players after good series and THEN, THEN AND ONLY THEN, blame the government.
Sure, hockey players really deserve better respect BUT first from people not from government. YOU generate follow-up interest in Indian hockey and government will follow.
It is like lecturing how bad government is in handling air pollution while having "paan" in mouth and spitting on the ro
