Perform or Perish!
by K Chandru on Oct 12, 2007 10:05 PM

What's the use of so called `sound' technique, if it is not yielding any results? Don't you think 44 runs from 5 consecutive matches means, Dravid is struggling? Give him a break! Break will do him a lot good. The rotation policy does two good things by itself. It avoids early burnup due to playing excessive cricket and gives fair chances to those waiting for their turns. Afterall, Team India cap is nobody's birth right. You need to have it in you and perform to don India colours. It's not bestowed to someone based on past laurels! There's no room for emotions and sentiments here. Dravid has become a burden, a liability to the team now. Should we give chance for another five matches for him to strike form?

My Team will be :

1. Saurav / Sehwag
2. Sachin
3. Uthappa
4. Yuvaraj
5. Badrinath
6. Dhoni
7. Irfan Pathan
8. Murali Karthik
9. Harbhajan
10. R.P. Singh
11. Sreesanth (Ausies get tensed at the very sight of him and commit mistakes)
12. Dinesh Karthik

Patel has scored 5 hundreds in this past five games.....he has been performing as an opener so why isnt he selected as reserve opener for india... i think choosing badrinath was stupid..patel should have been in his place followed by tiwary.

Are you Patel's uncle? He has already been tried and found useless.

Dravid should take rest...

Dravid should take rest...
Something is going in his mind(may be a surprise retirment plan) so he couldnt concentrate on a game.
But Dravid, you deserved a better farewell... so take rest... be fresh and show all impetient viewers & that idiot fellow(vengasarkar) your importance in tour matches.

If you are planning for retire, please declare it when you are at the peak of your form.. please not now.

Sachin & Ganguli... Our batting lineup only looks good when they get a solid openning stand.... So please don't loose your wickets in early overs... Don't bother much about runrate in initial overs... We can raise it anytime with wickets in hand.

Robin uthappa should mature a little... a stormy inning once in a while will make him another sehwag.

& most of all, Indian team needs a better think tank... may be low profile but a coach with good cricketting brain who can share the workload with dhoni to make little easy. A temporary manager for a serious series like aginst austrelia is not a good move by BCCI.

You are absolutely correct. Also we Indians have very wrong mindset about the job of the coach. For instance how many of us would accept Tim Nielsen as Indian coach. We only think that good players can become good coaches. People don't understand that at this level it is the psychological aspect which is more important. A coach should be able to read the game properly, analyse it, prepare a gameplan based on that and then help the players to be mentally at their peak so that whenever they are required they are not found wanting. A classic exmple if that is Micheal Kasprowich who toured India with last Australian team 2004. Before that he did not play for Australia for almost 2 years. But when he came to bowl in one of the ODI, the first delivery was bang on target. That is what is required form Indian Players. And for that they need a proper environment.

One thing is sure. Whatever little success India has had in cricket is not because of the Booard but in spite of the board.

sachin kambli amre 3 coached by who? ramakant achrekar. had he played any matches? coach of kapil dev - Azad (!) veeru's coach - Sharma (!)
one(as a coach) may b having skill technique n knowledge but one may not b showing those things on one's own while actually implementing the traits while playing. reasons can b anything like power of one's reflexes, eyesight, fitness, etc.
