Send Sachin to Australia! He'll be more respected here!
by Aussie Aussie Aussie on Oct 11, 2007 05:20 AM  | Hide replies

If people in India don't like Sachin playing anymore, send him to Australia. His value would be considered here as has been for 18 odd years. The day Steve Waugh retired, was the saddest day of my and most Aussie cricket lovers' lives coz he is a 'larger than life' character here. Sachin is, I hope the same for India and Indians. I hope a similar sad day doesn't come into your life soon, for it has to come one day. Let it be pushed further away. Trust me India, u'll miss the man when he's not playing anymore. It's an honour to watch this man do what he does best, i.e. give his 1000....% for his country. I love cricket, n Sachin is one of the reasons why this game is so beautiful. Good on you mate, keep going.

Dear Sachin,

Good that you realized that 400 is just another number. You would have been a much better player all your career if you had realized that 50/100/150/200 were also just numbers when you batted. Why the hell do you slow down in 40s/80s/140s/180s and so on?

Mr. Ben T,

I am not as ignorant as you think. I used to be a big fan of Sachin when he was young and used to play just his natural cricket without really bothering what his score was. Do you remeber? he first became a opener in New Zealand and scored 80 odd runs of 47 balls ( actually 22 consecutive scoring balls)...he used to be too good then just not caring about anything else in the world. As he became older, he developed a "greed" for statistics; may be he feels he should break most of the records before retiring. Subequently, I used to have very high expectation but he just kept disappointing me. I am not biased by the media because I just watch game but do not read the so called reports on the games. I think it is you who has to do some research before commenting. Invariably he got out in 80s/90s trying to be over cautious!! His worst ever slow down came in a test match when Dravid was the captain. India had to declare to have enough time to bowl out the opponents but Sachin was so slow that Dravid ended up declaring when Sachin was on 194...that was the greatest day of my life! You play for 20 years and you have highest number of 100s/50s and you still slow down near a 100/200/50/150....too bad.
check this page: it even mentions about his 194 not out

Apna Apna Dhanda hai sarkar sabko rozi roti ki padi hai. To answer you in the crude way. No one remembers a victory but he fails everyone abuse him. You have to agree that for a decade Indian Team was relied on Tendulkar to win matches. I think the scenario did not change now either. Sachin may not be our asset as he use to be in our past but surely he is a big moral strength. Come on guys its a games and it takes 11 players to play it. You expect a man to open the innings for you in a blasting way then you expect him to slow down in the middle and finally you expect him to give you a perfect finish. Its criminal injustice. What are the other 10 for. Sachin would have been a great player if he was not in Indian Team. I dont like this USE n ABUSE policy of my fellow country men.

He is a great batsman I do not argue with that and he does not need any body's certificate for that....but his record as a match winner is sloppy. Do you know that none of his innings
figures in wisdens top 100 innings although he has got so many 100s in tests. This is because he played well so many times but he just didnt manage to take India to victory...as a contrast Brian Lara figures thrice:
http://www.rediff.com/cricket/2001/jul/30bat100.htm

My point is:
Tendulkar is a great batsman but
not a match winner
slows down near a century
has "greed" for statistics
tried to avoid duties on ferrari car ( which was given to him for advertising) which really speaks a bit about his character

haha...r u talking of that wisden's top 100 innings which is full of flaws and controversies....dont b so naive to post such rubbish remarks...lemme xplain why........Kapil dev's 129 v South Africa at durban is included while Sachin's 137 v pakisthan at chennai is not included..in both test India lost..the other criterions wisden has followed is pitch conditions & opponent bowling attack...for which on both occasions it was bowling track..and the opponent bowling attack..when Kapil played SA had only Alan donald as a world class bowler but when Sachin played Pakisthan had Waqar younis, wasim akram & saqlain Mushtaq ...despite all this wisden has included kapil's innings and ignored Sachin's...why ??? do u hav an answer ?...and lara's 375 apart from that it broke a record..that innings has no relevance to b included in top 100 according to wisden criterions...that was a drawn test and heavy batting track both windies & english scored 593 which proves it ...and the english bowling line up had no world class bowlers....u hav proved that u r jus another ignorant snob who goes with teh media

Why did you speak about only 375 of Lara? Do you know how he got 153* and won the match? He had long partnerships with tail enders....even his 211 was superb match winning innings. Do you know that Tendulkar got a life in his 137??? Anyway, how much ever we argue nothing will change. Sachin is a great batsman, no second thoughts but I REPEAT
he is greedy
he is not a match winner like Lara or Steve Waugh
he slows down near century even now

unfortunately people who just see the scoreboards in the end do not realize. I had been a big fan and I know how many times I have been disappointed by his slow batting near a century. I can not pull out the statisitcs because no body writes down how many balls one took to score first 10, next 10 and so on....
I am not anti tendulkar, I do agree that he has very good batting skills and I do agree he has played some very good innings but he is not a spotless guy either.

Mr. Kitappa, stop cursing the master. Without Sachin the Indian cricket team would have been another Zimbabwe or a kenyan team. It is now that we have some good batsman like Yuvraj,Dhoni etc. But if u have a look at the history for 15 years the Indian batting revolved only around Sachin.

As it is cricket is a british legacy - even now India generates most money but ICC controls it.

All local Indian sports are getting killed due to lack of money.

I don't understand what is in Anir's post so senseless. It is true that all other games are ignored because of non-athletic sports like Cricket. In hockey, we won bigger countries like China and Australia but no one bothered about it. In tennis, the individual had to appoint their own coach and monetarily struggle in the International platform. All other games are facing the same fate because we don't have enough money to spend for coaching real athletic sports and continuously get humiliated in Olympics, Asian games etc. But, think about Cricket - they are getting more than double of what even IT professionals are getting money from advertisement etc etc despite they continue to fail consistently. If India lose in Cricket, we go to the extreme of burning effigies and attach players properties and if India wins we worship the players like God. We don't even bother about achievements in other sports.
Cricket should die in India for the sake of other real sports
