Miss out of Ganguly from 3rd ODI
by Ashank Harlalka on Oct 07, 2007 12:35 PM  | Hide replies

Ganguly should have played in the third ODI. The match without Ganguly was body without the soal. If he would have played our opening partnership would have been much more stronger and we would have easily won the match.

Gangu and Bongofobia is a predictable thing arising out of jealousy.
Please dont leave the topic. Bengalis need such bashings to get inspired to fight more and get more.
You are really doing a world of good to the Bengalis.
Thank you

I have seen Begger on Howrah station collecting money by Begging about Rs 300 a day. 24 hours begging very very slow rate but more per day. perfect example of Shout more get more....

then other side one coolie gathering money by carrying luggage of passanders Rs 200 a day of 10 hours less than Megger but all good fielding running betwen passangers and trains a perfect example of better perform more and get more

now for me the Coolie has much more respect in my mind than for Begger.

Your calculations are not only base the logic is childish.
You must be a kid or a man without maturity.
It is heartening that a fool like you is anti Bong or anti ganguly. We do not need fools like you.

I think u must hav came frm a remote village to Kolkata for a living without any credentials and when u had ur first look at the Howrah station while u came u wondered wat r u going to do in this big place, then did u look 4 some jobs in Kol, landed up empty handed. While returning back to ur place u must hav explored the option of being a coolie for a living or being a begger in the Stn., that is where the uneducated people ends up with in Kolkata, mind u don't mess with Bongs.

Seniors did well this year
by Sanjeev Verma on Oct 07, 2007 11:00 AM  | Hide replies

Seniord did very well in last two ODI series. The fact is that MOM in the three matches that we won against England were:
R. Dravid
Saurav Ganguly
S. Tendulkar

However, it is wrong to say that Ganguly was the second most successful player in world. In last series alone, Tendulkar, Dravid and Yuvi did better than Saurav and Saurav has not played that many ODI matches this year:

Natwest Series
Matches Runs Highest       Average Strike Rate
SR Tendulkar (India)       7       374       99       53.42              85.77

Yuvraj Singh (India)       7       283       72       40.42              86.01

SC Ganguly (India)       7       249       72       35.57              73.45

R Dravid (India)       7       223       92*       37.16             97.37

MS Dhoni (India)       7       175       50       25.00              72.31

Future Cup

SR Tendulkar (India)       3       200       99       66.66              77.82

Yuvraj Singh (India)       3       123       61*       123.00       78.34

R Dravid (India)       3       112       74       37.33              73.68

SC Ganguly (India)       3       73       42       24.33              60.33

MS Dhoni (India)       2       14       14*       14.00              93.33

ganguly av also performed wen picked.
it is pathetic to c him having to prove himself in each outing.
he is not as secured as sachin.
selectors are after his head.
so he takes each match as serious and performs, unlike sachin, who is cooling his heels becos of colonel vengsarkar's protection.
gangulyshould not av been dropped

Provinces vs India
by Biren Mukherjee on Oct 07, 2007 06:09 AM  | Hide replies

India is a state democracy. Without those provinces which bear the distinct cultures and languages, the concept of India falls short of credibility. Currently only a set of regions dominate and enjoy the power by maligning every others. How many North-East guys you see in the mainland India? They are alienated and yet you call them Indian. We did so many sacrifices for our country, but we were always ditched and never given our dues. Even if I try to be an *Indian-first* concept, you guys will recognize me from my surname and call me *bong*.I am proud to be a bong. Chappel showed middle finger to all of us and the crooks in the BCCI underplayed the message by saying he was showing his injury. Yes it is injurious to the integrity of a country when a foreigner disrespect the country and the rest others support that. There is enough fuel to think that we are being oppressed. Think, if Sachin was dropeed, the next day bal thakarey or some other Marathi would have called a Mumbai-strike. The things are lot different when Ganguly is dropped. It is good that Bengali have not started any anti-India campaign unlike sikhs and others. If the trends continue it will not be good for our country. We dont want that.

There are 30 states in India, it is very difficult to have representations from all the states. In the past, Bombay and then Delhi used to have a disproportionately large number of players. Now you see the people from UP [ Kaif/Raina/RP etc.] are coming up which was not the case. Apart from Bengal there are no players from Orissa/Assam/Bihar as well. MSD is the only exception. Sometime back someone from Orissa tried to slap Chappel because there was nobody from Orissa. Do you want to do that?

There were good reasons for dropping Ganguly when he was dropped. But now he should be there in the team- just like Zaheer, Pathan and Karthik, who found their form after being dropped.

While I don't condone Chappel showing his middle finger to the crowd, it is not very unusual given the partisan reception given to Indian team while playing vs. South Africa. It seemed that match was being played in Srinagar.

As far as Bengalise being not fairly represented, I think that's not true. Just open the company directory of any company. Look at the media- TV/Newspapers you get the idea. The whole eastern region is slow to catch up with IT revolution- but I did see many companies in Calcutta. Look at IIT Guahati. Cheer up man!

Re:*There are 30 states in India, it is very difficult to have representations%u2026%u2026 *
Addition: I have no problem as long as the players are selected based on their merits. However, that is not the case always. In comparison to some of the current players, Gangulys form is way better. He surely deserves a place in the team. The treatment, that the BCCI has been given to him is very desolating and mind bothering. Any person without even aorta of knowledge in cricket would understand that there is something fishy. Chappel did not rescue India. Rather he broke it into pieces. Had that been for any other country, he would have barred from reentering. Look at the incidence of Orissa.....the guy who slapped Chappel probably did not have enough for his bread and butter. Yet he was affected by Chappel policy. You can not fool around people for long. If we do that, the mass will evolve in making a consensus platform that would take care of others in which ever form. In case of India, the chances of having such revolution are very obvious.

The incidence that happened during the S.Africa match in Kolkata is deplorable at every cost. However, players inability to win a decent match ignited them. Besides, Gangulys omission also dominated the minds of localities. It happened in other parts of India as well.
In refer to the Bengalis presentation in the companies and other places, bear one thing in mind that they are there because of their own merits and not because of any quota

The problem is that left front has always exploited this insecurity among Bongs. Their political slogan has been the step motherly treatment from center for all their ills. I do not see any truth in this allegation. There is absolutely no discrimination against Bengalis in India. Ganguly was simply dropped because of bad performance. India won several matches after Ganguly was dropped. He came back once he discovered his form like Irfan and Harbhajan.

You can't have it both ways. Those who are there are on merit and those who are not there- it is because of unfair treatment.

I agree there is lot of regionalism in India. A hates B, B hates C etc. Either you have to adjust to the system or be so exceptional that no one can raise a finger.

Indian team shud think beyond imagination............

My ODI in 4th ODI:

Option 1:

Sachin
Sourav
Dhoni
Yuvraj
dravid
uthappa
R.sharma
I.pathan
M.karthik / Sreesanth / RP.singh
Harbajan
Z.khan

the reason why I brought Uthappa in middle order is he can chase the total well.... and in 35th overs...new ball is being taken...at that moment its better..a opener play that new ball.

the option 1 is better if Batting First

Option 2:

Uthappa
Sourav
Dhoni
Yuvraj
Sachin
Dravid
R.sharma
I.pathan
M.karthik / RP.singh / Sreesanth
Harbajan
Z.khan

the option 2 is better if chasing the total

the reason to bring Sachin and Dravid at 5th and 6th is that.....young player will play better cricket and Aggressive cricket keeping in mind that Seniors are there ahead to take care if anything wrong happens.

Some headless brainless creatures in this forum has developed a Bongfobia, an incurable disease arising out of envy to the meritorious.
It is natural in developing nation like hours which is faction ridden and regionally divided country with tough competition in every field.
As Bengalies are the leading race in education culture medicine except profiteering black marketing and and fake currency business,it is equally likely that they are the targetof attack from regional bullshits like those abusing Bengalis here.
First set your house in order. Stop violence and communal riots, bride burning, child abusing and killing, rape of bride by the father in laws then look at the Bongs.

People died in famine not because of Bengalis but hoarders and blackmarketeers from other states doing the business here. This was in the British period.
Industrial backwardnes is no longer a valid point if you consider about the investments coming now.
Bad roads are a thing of the past. Fortunately no flyoveror building collapses like hyd or Mumbai.
Yes the Kolkatah brothels are also full of outstation girls. It is a natural thing that prostitutes do not want to operate near their native place to avoid identification.
Sati and Benaras widows are also things of the remote past, no point in digging the old grave.
