HRS Mani Mani
3rd ODI at Hyderabad
by HRS Mani Mani on Oct 08, 2007 08:42 AM

I still feel India could have won the Hyderabad ODI with Yuvi going strong. Selfishness spoiled India's party. Rohit Sharma wanted to become a hero by hitting sixes but in the process he because zero. He should have given stand to Yuvi, settled down and waited for an opportunity to go for big bang. Very immature he is.

Mental Intensity
by Jim on Oct 07, 2007 05:13 PM

It is important for top performers to train their minds as much as their bodies. We get these guys that fall by the side because we build our teams with talent coming out from everywhere. Most of the time we are depending on the person's capability to cope.

Sachin Tendulkar can cope with this crap because he is programmed. In some sense Sachin may relish this and his mind could be telling him "you are the only guy in the entire universe that can take this". That is a powerful message and he will strive to keep himself at that because that has become his identity for himself. If he falls from that, he will not like himself anymore. Sports psychology at this level needs to be implemented properly for all these guys. I was recently back in India. The amount of hype and the number of channels constantly talking about this crap can affect anyone guys.

Changing the system means training these guys mentally as well. Everyone of these guys is capable for one or two games. T-20 suits them because it is short. They do not need to maintain that intensity for a long period. We need to put systems in place to make these guys mentally strong. In general top atheletes are actually psychos. Guys are too intense. They are narscasistic. They believe that there is no one better than them and that keeps driving them. Once they hang up their boots, pressure gone!!!

Again guys, spare a thought for a guy from a small village trying to cope with our MEDIA and our expectations!!!

We continue to talk crap
by Jim on Oct 07, 2007 05:04 PM

Here is the deal guys. We will win the game in Chandigarh. We keep yelling at our guys but, you need to spare a thought for them as well. Maintaining intensity for a long time is very difficult especially for guys at 19 to 27.

Put yourself in their shoes: You have just won the world cup. You have had 4 days to celebrate and then start this tour around the country. Aussies play every game with intensity. You saw when the got fatigued. Once they won the Ashes 5-0, there was a drop. They were regrouping and just taking it easy. They even spoke out about the series against New Zealand.

Our idiots are not as good as the Aussies. They have to play out of their skin every game to perform. Usually, when you win something you want to take some time to let it digest and build on the pride you developed on winning it. Then when you go on to the field, every time you feel like defending that pride. Now, it is more like "that win was great but what next". There is no time for them to feel like they need to defend their honor. No time for anyone to tell them who they have become.

Human Mind is the most powerfull of all the organs we have. Guys, Navy Seals in the US stay up 7 days and 7 nights participating in fights eating scraps and packaged food in the middle of no where. That is how much your mind can take.

Training that mind to constantly be on alert takes time and an unrelenting ability to focus on the goal. I will continue this next

Did you see Harbhajan bowl in last game? He was the most dangerous of Indian bowlers, beating the Aussis with his doosras. And he was the most economical. Why are you making a case for the effeminate looking fat slob - Ramesh Powar? This guy can't bowl, bat, or bowl. May be you like his looks .. or you are a Paki?

How many wickets did Ramesh take in the two matches he played in the series? and how many he looked like taking? He was so roughed up by Aussies that captain did not bowl him his full quota.
People dislike him as an athelete and a feilder. He needs to look a bit like player as well. You vouch for any spinner I will support you but Ramesh if you call bowling sence he is 1/10 as Harbhajan and you calculate yourself how is to your Saqlin.
