Any umpire who does not ask for maximum use of technology is just selfish with no cricketing interest at heart.
What goes of an umpire with a wrong decision? this year alone we have heard three apologies from umpires. They can apologize and then stand in the next test. What happens to the player who is dropped because his performance was affected by the wrong decision.
It is one thing to say that over the years it evens out, but only if you around over the years and not dropped.
There should be only one umpire on the field to make sure that players behave. The rest, technology can handle even today.
Saying know to technology in today's cricket, is like saying "Use your typewriter ( if you canc get a ribbon for it) and don't worry about computer." What a Retro thinking. Load of bull.
YOU MAY HAVE ONE IN 20, DOING REASONABLE UMPIRING, BUT IN GENERAL, INDIAN UMPIRES LACK:
1. LACK CRITICAL DECISION MAKING SKILLS 2. LOOKS THRETENED AND INTIMITATED WITH FOREIGN PLAYERS 3. NOT CONFIDENT EVEN LOOK QUITE VISIBLE ON THEIR FACE EXPRESSIONS 4. LOOK PATHETIC AND EVEN DOES NOT HAVE COMMON CRICKETING SENSE 5. TEND TO GIVE MARGINAL DECISIONS AGAINST THEIR OWN COUNTRY AND FEEL PROUD OF IT. 6. BODY LANGUAUGE AND PHYSIQUE IS HORRIBLE.
Being an Indian surely would like to see umpires who really have in them to represent India. Currently, none of them look at par. Having said that, not all foriegn umpires are appreciable either.

Our Indian umpires will always give close decisions in the oppositions favour....JUST to prove that they are Neutral!!! Thats the sort of bullshit logic they have.
Take the case of Amish Saheba in the recently concluded India Australia Series. So many close decision went Australia's way...whether they were batting or bowling made no difference. The Aussies had the Umps on their side. Had they mad e neutral decisions, we might have atleast levelled the series.
Congrats Umpire Amish Saheba...BTW..haven't the Aussies offered Aussie Citizenship to Amish Saheba!!!! Lol...:-).
And take a look at the shockers we used to get all these years in Australia till neutral umps came in.
The first series we played with neutral umps in Australia in 2003-04, we almost won the series over there.
It is not that our umpires are bad, they are useless (except Mr. Venkat Raghavan)look at the recent useless Mr.Saheba & Mr.Shastri. They should learn umpiring first. So depute them to officiate in Domestic Matches once they prove their worthiness, then appoint them in international matches (Still ICC knows the quality of Indian umpires thats the reason no indian umpires are there in their panel)
He is the same umpire who gave Ganguly out in 1999 Pakistan test at Chennai. It was not even a close call as the ball had bounced 5 feet before Moin Khan. The standing umpire R S Dunne was not sure so he asked to this idiot and that idiot gave Ganguly out without knowing the fact. He should have asked for TV replay. (Or benifit of doubt goes to batsman) And that rascal says it was the best umpiring experience.
He is really cheap guy who doesn't deserve to be umpire of even street cricket.
Such rascals spoil name of country by either means. (One side we lost the test match and second ICC confirmed that Indian umpires are not good.)
All the views expressed by VKR reflect his experience in the field. However, it is difficult to agree on the view that umpires are neutral irrespective of their nationality and region. Anyone can draw examples like Steve Bucknor or Hair as exceptions to this. Overall, human subjectivity is bound to exist though not always, however one has to recognize that human element in umpiring makes some of the games interesting as well.
Mr. Ramaswamy was a good umpire but he would not have qualified in ICC panel because it is definitely biased against Indian umpires. Look at the mistakes made by the elite panel umpires - they are in no way better than the average Indian umpire. The tragedy is that BCCI and our commentators do not comment on this discrimination. Mr. Ramaswamy has also chosen to duck this issue. Look at the series of bad decisions Indian batsmen have had in the recent past. Sachin has had atrocious decisions in a few ODIs. I believe that if a few Indian umpires were in the elite panel then the percentage of targeted decisions would reduce. I can understand a plumb LBW being given not out as the rule states benefit of doubt to batsmen but regular bad decisions specifically against Indian batsmen raises quetion of bias. Contrast the number of LBW decision of turning balls that went in favour of Warne and how many similar one of Kumble were turned down. If you study ICC decisions ( whether related to umpires or player's dissent)over the last decade or so , the bias against India is clear.
