Indian board must be the only one that rakes up more controversy or bad press than the team itself. It is filled with a bunch of egomaniacs who are more interested in looking after themselves %u2018read selfish%u2019 than doing their job in a professional manner. No wonder our team and the board is treated they way they are treated both by the third estate and other boards across the world. What a shame.
What is to be humiliated in this?? if he cant attend in the place BCCI mentions its just natural they ask him to attend thru phone!!! hez no maharaja of indian cricket that team selection meetings have to be held at palces comfotable to Veng(ayam)sarkar!!!

You are right Muthukumar. The reason he gave when dropping Dravid was that Dravid was not fully fit. Which is a lie because Dravid is one of the fittest in team India. Dravid is a workoholic in the gym as well in the nets.
Looks like Dilip is paying the price for snubbing Dravid over captaincy issue. Anyway Vengsarkar deserves it. He was behaving like he was the king of BCCI. BCCI is doing its best to make Vengsarkar quit and it won't be long before he does.
The cricket in India is alive because the fans are crazy after cricket. Sharad Pawar, Rajiv Shukla, Niranjan Shah....etc are not doing good to cricket. But Mr. Tripathi, what is wrong in asking to select the team over a confernce call. Worldover business deals are fixed on telecons. Thre is nothing in it to humilate him. If Vengsarkar or any of his co-selectors have any problem in going to the venue of the selection committee meeting, they can still be a part of selection by participating in a teleconference.
IN the past, it has never happened because teleconference at least in INdia is comparatively new.
The champions australia are selected like this so why not the new champs india and what will selectors do at ameeting drink,sleep(with who?)and then select the highest bidder with zonal preference not to mention the free amenities like star like hotel,room etc not to mention the sitting fees etc while players sweat their balls in the middle
