Neither Sourav nor dravid
by parul on Nov 28, 2007 05:39 PM

The BCCI is real bugger! neither Ganguly nor Dravid. Why BCCI allowed one player to play dirty game of politics.... In fact the credentials of BCCI is itself under scan. Previously it was Dalmia now Sharad.

Some predictions for Kolkata Test
by Emperor Ashoka on Nov 28, 2007 04:27 PM  | Hide replies

1. Dinesh Karthik will play well and score a big 50, may be even 100 in the first innings.

2. Three of the big-4 (Dravid, Sachin, Sourav and Laxman) will fail and only one will score 30-40 runs.

3. Pakistan will take first innings lead.

4. India will struggle to draw the test.

5. Many rediff buffs will recall this set of predictions after the test with a pinch of salt in their mouths.

Taking Gourd for Sourabh Ganguly
by Sohaan Subhankar on Nov 28, 2007 01:32 PM  | Hide replies

What's wrong if someone is Ganguly's fan...what's wrong if someone says Ganguly has been victim of Dirty politics. Well that's true. That's 100% true that ganguly has been thrown out of the team. At the same time look at the record book Ganguly's record shows he has been the most successful captain in india. As an individual player he has most no of man of the match after Sachin. so Naturally Ganguly is better than Dravid. So question arries why Ganguly fans are nt happy with Dravid. forget Greg Chappel.. it's Dravid's responsiblity to support Sourabh at this bad days.. which Dravid has never done. Rather he was instumental to throw him out. I am nt saying .. the team members (sehwag, yuvi and harbhajan said in publicly that Ganguly should be in team)..so things prety clear that Dravid is the villian. Well lets forget Dravid and ganuly.. i say to both the fans group.. let one be happy with ganguly and other be happy with dravid..why so much fuss

if u r comparing ganguly with a player like dravid, then u r insulting dravid. ganguly is not a victim of dirty politics but he is a victim of his dirty attitudes and selfishness. dravid is a victim of dirty politics. if u place dravid out of the team just on the basis of 5 matches performance then there should be no place for sachin, gambhir, ganguly, sreesanth, r p singh, uttapha, bhajji and specially sehwag. indian team has suffered from poor form for around 60 matches. i think in that case india can have only three players kumble, dhoni and yuvraj. tel me any inning of ganguly in which he has single handedly won the match for india. in each match ganguly plays only for himself,he make 40 runs from 65 or 70 balls and put pressure on the other team members. these days when each country is scoring around 300 runs in a ODI, then a batsman, who is playing with the field restrictions should have strike rate of atleast 80. dravid comes to the crease and scores at a strike rate of around 85 even in a pressure situations, on the other hand, in pressure situations ganguly scors at a strike rate of around 50. at that time he thinks that he is playing a test match

see the strike rate of both players in cricinfo.com,
you will realise what you are saying.

I can still recall the 3rd test between india and england, and dravid did not give them follow-on. India as 11/3 in 2nd inning, ganguly came and agressively played and rescued india with 57 with 61 ball, where dravid scored 12 of 96 balls.

I agree with u Lotiya Pathan. no matter whoever is in the team or not TEAM INDIA should win each and every match and we must give our support. the fact is Tendulkar, Dravid or Saurav can not play alone & win matches. all players should play as a team and win.

sorav was dropped becoz he isnt playing well and also he is taking his captincy for granted by not attending pratice session in nets...

he is the only player in indian cricket who fake injuries...

Sohaan, Dravid might villan for your dirty eyes. He is still a hero for billions and will remain so. Dont give your own judgement of ganguly and praise him. Even the team members have suffered his dictatorship during his captaincy. Now what was saurav doing when dravid was in his bad days. Blame politics but never bring record books to compare players. Both of them have done extremely well. Ganguly dug his own grave by behaving rudely with the players. It was not dravids fault at all. Dravid was offered captaincy he accepted. He resigned as captaincy and mind it he was not thrown out. They offered captaincy to tendulkar, buthe rejected it. They offered it to dhoni, he did not accept it. Why didnt they offer to Ganguly, the answer is left to the readers and decide.

they never offered captaincy to dhoni, and rejection was not in the scene. ofcourse, ganguly denied to take captaincy infront of media (NDTV) before tendulkar. so board had no option left, gave it to kumble. So it shows, you are having some wrong facts.
anyway, kumble was right choise.

Pathan, i agree with you, I know you are a stonch fan of saurav, he is your hero. What has dravid done to bangali baboos, they are loosing their faith in indian cricket. They only need their state members representation. They misbehaved during last test match. People abuse tendulkar for not playing, but never accuse him for making any politics in team. Why always dravid and ganguly come into limelight. If basic question is un answered the argument continues for ever. Everytime someone is posting facts on ganguly they deleberately bring dravid on wrong end. Why is always its dravid V/s Dada. If dada fans want to write message on dada let them write, why do they have to make mokery of dravid. This shows the silly mentality. Anyways I agree with you tosupport team india. I hope Kolkatha match ends piecefully. Even if bangalore pitch doesnt support india, we have strong indian supporters to cheer for india.

If selector give captancy to dhoni it would to much budenn for a young captain who play only 20 test only & also not even play 100 ODI

I Think kumble will be right choice. If selector give captaincy to Ganguly & sachin means that we go to 5 year back

That my opinion

It depends up on whom they select as a Coach. Selecting GK won't help. It will take a year for him to understand indian mentality and further two years that he is not able to do anything about it! Better to go for indian coach - such as Sandip Patil who took Kenya to SF during WC 03.

WE HAVE ANOTHER CHALLENGE COMING
by baranikumar mahadevan on Nov 28, 2007 12:47 PM  | Hide replies

Dear all

Look up today's Australian newspapers.
Reports suggest that the Australian selectors are seriously thinking of a four paceman attack.
Brett Lee - leader of the attack. Focus on speed
Shaun Tait - Focus on raw speed.
Mitchell Johnson - Variety
Stuart Clark - Seam and accuracy like Mc Grath

The reason - Melbourne cricket ground is reported to have a lot bounce and a combination of pace and bounce is what they feel the Indians are very weak against.

It is true that Indian batting manages pace as such. But pace with accuracy can be deadly and our record against Mc Grath has not been impressive. Now we have 4 pacemen bowling 150 kms per hour in the first Test.

Perhaps the team should seriously pray for Akhtar to be fit and bowl the whole series so that we may have some practice in facing pace!!!

NOBODY LIKES GETTING OUR TEAM BEATEN!!

More than beating Pakistan we should look at beating the No. 1 team - AUSTRALIA.
SHOULD THE INDIAN PUBLIC DEMAND THAT BCCI SHOULD MAKE INDIAN PITCHES FAST AND BOUNCY AS A LONG TERM MEASURE. NEVER MIND LOW SCORING MATCHES.
