Another G??????????????
by Notout_Naveen on Nov 27, 2007 08:41 PM

Why BCCI is behind letter G?

They appointed 'G'reg chappel and he screwed up the team.
They appointed 'G'raham Ford and he choked them big time.
Now they are interested in 'G'ary Kirsten.

May be If he fails then they might look for
'G'ream gooch
'G'ream Hick
'G'ary Sobers etc.

Not sure what is eating BCCI and its team with 'G' factor.

Cant wait to get this Pak tour out of the way so we can embark on the Aussie journey.
Longing to see the cute guys Brett and Clarke.

Inzamam
by Shweta Saigal on Nov 27, 2007 10:58 AM  | Hide replies

I guess Pak teams decline should be blamed on the captaincy reign of Inzamam. He converted the team into fundmentalist with religous beliefs. They are banking more on prayers than their own efforts. I also hope Yusuf should learn something from Younis. To be a devout Muslim you dont need to have that bush on your chin. Also I fail to understand how one can change from one extreme to another so quickly.
I still have memories of him crossing his heart everytime he scored a 50 or 100. And now with this bush hanging - it looks totally disgusting. I hope the Pak team frees itself from all this on the cricket field. The team of the past under Imran and Wasim had self-belief and that is why they were successful.

well...nothing wrong in changing religion..if thats going to help. I am sure he would have got more congenial atmosphere and respect everywhere in pakistan eversince he changed his religion...so good for him.
I won't be too surprised if Danesh Kaneria follows suit.

also pakis main motivation against India, is motivated by religion...its their inspiration especially against us...so not sure whether freeing them against all this will help them really since for most of the muslims his/her religion comes first then anything else including...OK let me not digress.

Talking about Imran etc, yes he had self belief but it wasn't sans religion again he is known to have given lot of religious pep talks to the paki team just before the matches against india.

Shoaib - something in the name
by Shweta Saigal on Nov 27, 2007 10:41 AM  | Hide replies

I feel Shoaib Malik doesnt bowl much because he is a suspect.

However, I feel Shoaib Aktar definitely is a big time chucker. However, he is sly just like Brett Lee. They perhaps chuck one ball every 1 or 2 overs not like Murli who can help but chuck every ball as he does not know to bowl any other way. I feel this 15 degree rule is absurd. Umpires are not going to hold protractors to check the degree. The case is simple either you chuck or you dont. In this case I am positive both Shoaibs chuck.

I pray that they both dont play - so that we can witness a clean match free from cheaters.

Not so good as his replacement will play better than him. But that hardly matters, India will win inspite of who plays for Pak.

Whats the role of Malik?
by Manian Vasudevan on Nov 27, 2007 01:05 AM  | Hide replies

Shoaib Malik is, basically, a bowler, who improved his batting skills. However, it is pathetic to note that he did not bowl even a single delivery in the Kotla Test.

The South African Kallis is basically a batsman. Ever since Hansie Cronje asked him to bowl a few overs, just for a change over, he grabbed that opportunity and now bowls regularly, with some success too. However, he never let his batting down.

Why Malik started assuming that he is a batsman first? He must consider himself as a bowler, who can bat too. Its a pity that spinner failed to even bowl, let alone exploit, a Test match pitch, which stretched to a few overs into the 5th morning.

Hope Malik would learn soon what is priority.

Very true .. Why couldnt Malik share the ball with Danesh kaneria? why to make his sweat out by giving long spells? if he doesnt have the confidence in his bowling.. I dont think he is fit to be captain.

He even made shoaid akhtar to bowl 7 overs spells on the 4th day. But he was casually standing on the field and shouting whenever he wanted to show his presence? A very bad attitude..

he is reported for suspect bowling action several times. after that he improved ..!? his bating [ ofcourse he shines only vs india, or srilanka and bangla] . now he is captian and must play all the matches. remember his bowling was never threatening nor his bating devostating.

I feel you are wasting your time trying to analyse Pak defeat. IS it because India one and we have no reason to criticize our team so we turn towards Pak to see what went wrong there. Shoaib Malik is a ICC suspect and he know that he may get into trouble especially of he bowls in Test matches where the pace of the game is slow and people like to watch all aspects of the game. On another note Shoaib is no Shane Warne that if he bowled it would matter. His bowling would bear not consequence to the outcome of the game.
