Opening Problem for India?
by Kiran Sudhakar Kshirsagar on Nov 26, 2007 09:22 PM  | Hide replies

I think Gautam Gambhir should be given his deserved chance for opening with Jaffer. It will give India a Left hand - Right hand combo and also will give a composite pair of attacking and defensive natures in batting. Both should be given some time to settle down as Test Opening pair. We should follow the Australian tactics to handle such a important position in a 5 day game. Gautam Gambhir with his recent excellent form has shown his class in all forms of cricket with his situation handling patience and capabilities. Right now before moving to Australia on such fast tracks, it is absolutely right time to give Gambhir-Jaffer to set as Opening test pair and let them open against Pakistan in next 2 remaining test. But as always it is fully dependent on the trust of the selectors on the selected squad and the players. All the way, CONGRATS to Indian team for the success they have achieved this year and BEST OF LUCK for the upcoming 2 tests and Australian tough tour.

How many times you will go on changing opening pair. What butt said if you too frequently change opening pair you will not get any benefit.Karthik is the highest run getter and by facing the pace as opener. For one match nobody can even doubt his place in the team.

who will open for india next match- my worries?
by vinoth chandrasekar on Nov 26, 2007 07:13 PM  | Hide replies

Dinesh karthik should get another chance ? but if he is not lucky, then who will be the opener, i think Dravid might do the sacrifice becoz neither dada nor sachin or dhoni can never resist the opening attack in test matches

If you don't find anybody having courage to face pace then how could you dream to replace Karthik.

It is blessing in disguise indeed. Shoib is not a good captain. Younis Khan is a better captain. Pakistan will do better in next test
