its not important whether india plays to their strength of spinners on dead turners or not. issue is different. ok v play on spinner friendly pitches here. but wud u take performances of players on such pitches as a yardstick for selecting the team to ausi. the problem is much serius bcoz selectors r going to select the team for ausi on performances of players in the dead turners of ind pitches. if v dont want to lose in ind, then better select team for ind and ausi on different criterias. ie select sub-continent players for ind matches and select genuine batsman for ausi matches.
Our Batsmen will be tested severely by the Pakistani bowlers. Their pace attack despite the loss of the dreaded 'reverse swing' is potent enough for our batsmen who whatever form they are in are always vulnerable against genuine pace. Umar Gul besides wonderful swing has added pace to his armoury. Was consistently clocking 90 mph on placid tracks in the one day series. A few times even Pak spinners have run through powerful Indian lineups(Mohammed Nazir, Tauseef, Qasim, Kaneria,Saqlain)
Importantly India has not beaten Pakistan in a home series since the last 27 years!!!Every time in the last four series India has been the clear favourite ....only to deceive in the final test a couple of times('87 and 2005) or throw away golden opportunities. Pakistan have played some of their best cricket in India, 26-6 at Kolkata to end up winning. Indian bowler's woeful lack of killer instinct is repeatedly exposed in Indo Pak series barring a couple of notable exceptions. Also remember Pakistan has won 5 test matches in India to India's 6. There is an embarrassment of riches on the batting front but a serious dearth of talent on the bowling front. Indian fans should be pragmatic and keep their fingers crossed and not be too expectant.

Does this mean that India will not win the test series. Stop talking about History and come to present. With world class bowlers and batsmen, India will take the sting out of Pakistanis.

it seems you are off your head and do not know that India is the only team in the world who can loose from the best winning positions. Which it has been doing regularly. It can never improve till Tendulkar and Ganguly are in the team it was clearly shown in the 20-02
No body is talking abt Jumbo's brillient century at lords. Which was not a flook.I think his batting has improved a lot and he will play for another 2 years.
Mr. Kumble you are saying that performance is the key but the same time you are making statement that Yuvi have to wait for his turn when is performing better then every body in the team. How can you back-up the performance of VVS and Jaffar in the recent Ranji Matches which is NIL

An image of my thoughts. Kumble though deserves the role and I do wish him best, yet.......I have my fingers crossed on the test series. He has sent wrong signals till now. from prefering spinners and cricketers from down under to curating decisions......
We will see how it turns up. VVS has to justify his position as opposed to a Yuvi based on current perfromance and not past laurels. Hope he does that........

Kumble himself is not fit to play. It is ridiculous that he is made the captain. Get back Dhoni as the captain !!!!

Kumble is the perfect man for captain with the lot of experiece behind. Dhoni is still far bihind Kumble. Under stand Test cricket is the different form 20-20
