My team for Delhi test would be,
1. Washim jaffer
2. dinesh kartck (WK)
3. Dravid
4. Tendulkar
5. ganguly
6. Yuvraj
7. Laxman
8. Zaheer Khan
9. Harbhajan
10. Murli Kartick
11. Kumble

I would like to play three spinners in delhi test. Openning bowling will be from zaheer and ganguly for max 14 overs, then bring back spinners into attack on end with with zaheer.
I would like to rest Dhoni, bcoz he is fit for ODI team.
Kartick has to be grommed for test WK, then we will have an extra specialist batsman.

Ashish, you have been writing lot of trash for the sake of writing. If you hate India or Indians eating with hands, indian roads, etc. why are you on INDIAN WEBSITES?

In fact, you should thank REDIFF, an indian website to let you write whatever you want.
I used to like some of your writings thinking that you are an objective person but looks like you have some motive to provoke people.

If you hate all of us, don't you think it's beneath you to log on to Indian websites and create all this tamasha! Grow up Man!

Kabir, you seem to be upset with ashish's views.
i am an indian , live in pune and can very well say that most of his views are right.
we can only talk but nothing changes. the IT sector has indirectly done a disservice because of them the impression created is that whole of india is shining but you know the reality.
he has spelled out many areas but we can go on adding endlessly to the list.what about dowry deaths, caste discrimination( which is still blatantly practised in the rural areas), girl child , no justice for the poor, enoromous corruption with virtually no conviction etc etc.
i live in Pune which has a bus service which is packed most of the times but the service is still in a loss in spite of charging the highest fares per km in the country.the service is so poorly run that there is no printed bus routes with schedules and buses rarely carry any legible sign boards.queue system has virtually disappeared .
so instead of saying somebody hates us for pointing out the truths ( other countries may be even worse but we are talking of india) we have to see what we can do to improve the situation . alas, the answer ,at least to me ,comes out as nothing.
so we will talk and write and salvage our conscience and every thing can go on merrily. i
jai hind

Ashish:
thanks a lot for the clarity in your email.
I understand your pain.
My brother played hockey as well but couldn't get into the mainstream [let me not go into that]. However, I do agree with you that India is so caught up in Cricket that they have less respect [for the lack of better word] for other sports as well. Rather, they don't have decent appreication for kids who play other sports [i was an athlete by heart but played sports]

I will give you one simple fact. Last Olympics, we just got one medal [and you know who] but India [that includes REDIFF] went gaga about that funny we have so much populations and looks like LOTS OF DOUGH as India is shining:)], but soon after Olympics, there was also PARAOLYMPICS, and people gave damn when ine indian got a gold medal in paraolympics.
Guess, many of these so-called Indian websites [including REDIFF ofocurse] didn't even put that as a main heading and talked about it!
That's the story of India.
I have been helping ParaOlympic sports in Canada for the last 10 years, and trust me! the passion they have for the sports is just amazing! Btw.. there are a quite few Goans play excellent Hockey in Canada!

My point is brother! you have some amazing points that you bring to the Rediff audience but somehow it looses the impact because somehow they don't look POSITIVE CRITICISM! You know what I mean!
Much respect.
see you on rediff!

no worries! your points are well taken!
still your argument is very much valid though, i.e,
India still has to beat Aussies, and for the time being, Aussies are still the best until proven otherwise!

all this talk of India [in particular Sreesanth the immatured] will be validated in Australia.
Yes, if we think we are the best then we have to prove it in Austrailia!!! Simple as that! isn't it?

Manners and Indian Politicians:) ....and religion, castism....come on! we have a long way to go in these issues!

good day!

What does it take to beat the Aussies
by Ankur Kulshrestha on Nov 20, 2007 03:35 PM  | Hide replies

Today we saw yet another timid defeat of a team touring down under. Aussies made Sri Lankan team look mediocre and ordinary, if not worse. Australia have not lost a Test at home since being beaten by India almost four years ago, and have lost just two in the last decade. Australian prospective future captain Micheal Clarke might make remarks like "We are not invincible at home", but as we all know, it takes more than an extra-ordinary effort to beat them at home. So what does it take to beat the invincible and unbeatable Aussies down under? Will this Australian dominance over cricket ever end. Will we witness more evenly matched games involving Australia?

I wish someone could answer these questions for me :O

One thing is for sure - All touring teams, without any exception, get overawed by Australia even before their respective tours start. In this aspect what India achieved last time was commendable. If we can win atleast one test even losing the other three, we can consider to be successful. It takes a tremendous and consistent performance with some amount of luck even to achieve that!
