Why do we need coach...
by sana rao on Nov 10, 2007 02:22 PM

Now india is playing very good without coach. we have fielding coach & bowling coach.. they are enough to us.... and the team which was played current 2nd one day international with pakistan is very good team because we have 7 batsmen and 4 bowlers.. mostly its my openion in one day matches is for batsmen so should be here 7 batsmen.Am I correct?

Why do we need Ganguly...
by Tanya on Nov 10, 2007 01:51 PM  | Hide replies

Why do we need Ganguly?? He is no good and always plays politics. Ganguly is the only who played politics and removed Dravid from one-day cricket. I think we should bring back Dravid. Dravid is the best one-day player we have Definitely lot better than Tendulkar and Ganguly. Now that Kumble has become the test captain, I hope he gives good advice to Dhoni and ensure that Dhoni brings back Kumble and Dravid in one-day squad. Only then Indian Cricket will benefit.

u guys need to follow cricket and increase more n more knowledge on this, if u have good memory then recollect that zaheer and ganguly are the one's who were doing extremely good since they made their comeback in the team. one or two matches frm them cannot be termed as useless. think before u write any crab.

You are Right! ..... So don't drop Saurov only, You drop the currently playing eleven and install a team of Dravid, Kumble, Utthappa, Srinath and more Bangalore cricketers ... If required rename the team India as Team Bangalore. So, your statement is well justified. India require the absolute fan like you only.

Killer Instinct
by Prasad Manokaran on Nov 10, 2007 10:21 AM

The approach of the Indian players is very very casual there is no killer instinct. Many players in the current team are playing with full of interest and responsibility in order to secure their place in the team.

I do not know about who would be the right Captain at this moment!.

I do not know about who would be the right Captain at this moment!.
My imagination goes tomy boyhood school days when our teachers and non teaching staff used to stage dramas.
One was Ravindrnaths 'Viswarjan'.
Shyamadasbabu was missing on the occasion.
We later dicovered him on the stage playing the role of Aprna and he was so convincing.
With adequate make up Kumble will automatically look like a good SAS and Dravid like a conspiring Bahu.
If it can be tried!!

History of Kanpur ODIs!!
by Vatsal Parekh on Nov 09, 2007 09:18 PM  | Hide replies

Kanpur Green Park :
1) Significant movement due to early start and moisture....Rana Naved destroyed our top order in March...what can happen in november when winter is setting in??

So, win toss and bowl first...as simple as that!!
Later on, under a hot sun, the pitch will dry up and spinners will come into the equation...But Pakistan hardly have any spinners to trouble India!!

My verdict : Team that wins the toss should bowl first without the slightest hesitation..

If Pakistan win the toss and put India in, only god can help us against akhtar and Gul in seaming Kanpur!!
Then the startegy should be to not lose wickets in the first 10 overs.....even if we score only 40 runs!!
My Team for tom. :
Sachin Tendulkar
Gautam Gambhir
Sehwag
Yuvraj
MS Dhoni
Rohit Sharma
Robin Uthappa
Irfan Pathan
Zaheer Khan
Harbhajan Singh
Sreesanth

Ganguly i have already removed...see the team....
I have kept Sehwag only to allow us to go with one spinner....
Uthappa has been retained...he needs to be given atleast one full series to prove himself...if he fails, he should be kicked out!!

Following is best team from the given squad:

1. Sachin Tendulkar
2. Gautam Gambhir
3. Rahul Dravid
4. Yuvraj Singh
5. MS Dhoni (c)
6. Rohit Sharma
7. Praveen Kumar
8. Irfan Pathan
9. Harbhajan Singh
10. Zaheer Khan
11. RP Singh
12. S Sreesanth

I have not included R Uthappa as he is most over-rated and over-hyped player in Team India..and Shewag we all know has got nothing more to offer for Team India!

Rohit Sharma and Praveen Kumar should be given chance if not its complete waste of evolving talent!

I can understand your thinking...but Rahul Dravid is right now not in the 15...i'am basically talking of this series...

Your team is fine....except Praveen Kumar...Praveen kumar has talent but it might be foolhardy to try out a newcomer against the dangerous Pakis...
Praveen will scond change...what if the great Misbah ul Haq destroys him??
Sorry boss, that is too much of a chance to take!!

vatsal bhai,
My theory is that Pure Talent will only come out against the best...if you are good/better/best among INDIA show it against PAKIS/SAS/AUSSIES and prove it that you are worth calling a MASTER or a GEM in more than 1 billion!

Playing and scoring against minnows on flat pitches like Uthappa, Dhoni and calling them talent is awful and sheer foolishness!

Totally agree with you there Baap......
There is absolutely no point in rating someone highly if he has rattled some big scores against z grade teams like Zimb or Bangla....

If you have to judge someone, let him be judged on all performnces(home and away) against :
Australia
South Africa
Pakistan
Sri Lanka

Rest of all is crapp........
In a way you are right...throw Praveen at the deep end of the pool..if he comes good, then great...if he does not , so what??

Even if we lose to Pak, it is not the end of the world!!

Shewag should replace gangduly in the opening. Shewag should be given more chances, if he regain his old form then we have a chance to become No 1. No one else in the indian team have this capacity.
Good luck and best wishes to him.

Ganguly is the highest scoring player in the team in 2007 and has scored 4 century partnerships, each of them leading to a win. sehwag's highest score in the last year is 36 - still you want to replace ganguly with sehwag. this is regionalism at its best

RE:Shewag
by Janardhana on Nov 09, 2007 08:38 PM
There is no doubt Ganguly in involved in 4 century partnerships, but all of them did not lead to victory. Twice with tendulkar against England, we won due to fast batting by tendulkar while Ganguly took benefit of that to score a sedate 50 or so. Even Gambhir would have done that. Only once he scored more than 50 but we lost because tendulkar had got out early. In another match against australia, despite tendulkar giving great start (140 partnership) Ganguly scored a sedate 80 plus of 110 balls and made sure that India Lost. When tendulkar on song anybody including Gambhir can be with him and have some century partnerships. Ganguly is a selfish player plays only for records which satisfies people like you, while he bats slow, fields sluggish and poor running between wickets makes him most unsuitable for one day.

its shame our bowling attack cudnt defend 321 runs...how the heck they will defend scores less than 300?..zaheer khan shud be dropped and be replaced by sreesanth..sreesanth has better record against pakistan ..and r.p singh shud be replaced by murali karthik...play 2 spinners and 2 fast bowlers on kanpur pitch....india will definately win the match....and irfan patahn shud open the bowling attack...replace sehwag wit rrohit sharma...indians showed their in experience in mohali odi..dropping some tough chances...tendulkar shud try to convert 90's in to big hundreds
