I do not know about who would be the right Captain at this moment!.
My imagination goes tomy boyhood school days when our teachers and non teaching staff used to stage dramas.
One was Ravindrnaths 'Viswarjan'.
Shyamadasbabu was missing on the occasion.
We later dicovered him on the stage playing the role of Aprna and he was so convincing.
With adequate make up Kumble will automatically look like a good SAS and Dravid like a conspiring Bahu.
If it can be tried!!

Kumble has been the most unselfish cricketeer India has ever seen(apart from Dravid). The JUMBO of indian cricket has finally got what he should have 5-6 years ago. Anyways hope he holds the captaincy for at least 2-3 years till Dhoni matures into a fine player.

why not Ganguly!!?
by Nihit Saxena on Nov 09, 2007 05:18 PM  | Hide replies

if going for someone experienced what was the point of choosing sachin or kumble when ganguly the proven successful captain of india was available.. i dont get it.. they will get back to become losing side .. kumble/sachin are not strategists.. even if ganguly is manipulative that is what is required to win matches from australia and pakistan not goody two shoes like sachin/kumble/dravids. even dhoni is almost like that(goodytwoshoe).. however yuvraj could have been another good choice..

Test record under Ganguly is not good-
rahul dravid has got Test Victory in West indies
Zimbabwe, in england recently !!1
Now Kumble is a great player who has ability to perform and win the matches, You are Ganguly fan so Ganguly will never get capatincy in entire life !

Do you remember Rahul dravid was demoted to 6 and 7 order in 2003 world cup and also he has to do wicket keeping, inspite of knowing that in 1999 world cup Rahul dravid had scored 464 runs
Highest run scorer of the world cup, Ganguly wanted him to bat down the order so that He will never be higest Run scorer, Gangul gave chance to Harbhajan singh instead of Kumble in world cup becoz Harbhajan is Gangulys chumcha and tail !! See kumbles performance he will win the series for India !!!

all u guys listen one thing...it seems 2007 WC debacle was not enough that you guys still want lick chappel...moreover do u know regional politics???? when gangu ws the captain no player from bengal got special chance, rather players from every corner of india were playing...there are no doubts that ganguly is the best captain ever and no doubt rahul was great under his captaincy, but the its the credit of captain to get the best out of the players which rahul could not do....About Kumble just wait and see , till the time jumbo learns captaining Indian side he will realize that he is too old to play cricket....

a captain is not only supposed to lead from the front but also perform--not look for excuses to not play, shuffling batting orders to suit oneself--there is something called selfless and unselfish which sadly cant be associated with ganguly--forget him -he's history and will never make capotain again

whatever you write you cannot erase the history dude...compare what dravid gave us in WC 2007 and what gangu gave us in 2003...moreover under his captaincy we won the test series and one day in pakistan..we won test in SA and England and Australia...and Zimbabwe also...as a player consider his MOM record and out of those matches how many india won..also check his test and oneday average...before commenting some shits just be sure what you are saying

Hello titas bera.I will show you statistics well.

How many test series India has won under dravid? Two historic series which again against westindies and england great well recognized team. And main thing by performing his best,Not heavily relying on others.I don't say he only performed others didn't contribute.Ganguly didn't perform but won a series against pakistan with the great performance of dravid and minnows BAngla. That's it.In one day dravid with his short tenure won against so many teams with his better performance than ganguly looking for an easier option.

In summary Ganguly was more concentrating on captainship than a batsman.Whereas Dravid with a good batsmanship he did a very good job.

Why noy Ganguly: Because, everyone knows that Ganguly will play regional politics rather than Cricket, with scant regard for team work. Who can forget the Chappel Episode?

Kumble is KOHINOOR OF IND CRICKET - B S BEDI
by Suman Bhat on Nov 09, 2007 03:58 PM  | Hide replies

Kumble is great servant of ind cricket and won many matches in short and long form of game but never got the credit or media hype even whatever he deserve for. He is most ill treated cricketer and finally he got the honour of leading team which would hv happpened long time before
Kumble never express his emotions on the field which many ppl misunderstand that he is not agressive or his body language is not good but he is committed professional team player and he is fighter Kumble never involved in compliants, contraversies, groupism, media /political hipofs,He is silent but superb performer on the cricket field
Best of luck to A (NIL) TON Kumble for his new job and also for 600 wkts in test

Looking at Rediff comments, sometimes you really feel whether this
by karthick p on Nov 09, 2007 02:22 PM

Every time, something good happens somewhere, be it in cricket, or any other place, the north-south and the inter-south divide gets blatantly expressed in Rediff. Look at all these hate comments. Sometimes you just feel sad for those people who just spew such venomous statements. What\'s it got to do with Kumble being a Kannadiga or Sourav being a Marathi? The only real thing that influences such major decisions are talent (hopefully). So damn you rediff, for starting this flame bait wars. And shame to those people who fall for this everytime and visit to reply to hate comments and load up their cache box with the reddit junk cookies and adwares

Kumble is a great thinking man. People with more or less the same bowling talent have got lesser success. He was supremely underrated as an allrounder, and could have been used as our own version of Healy. In any case theres nothing for just Bangalore to cheer about this, the whole of India cheers his captaincy. Most of his great feats have been outside of Karnataka, and the country salutes this hero. Hes an Indian hero, and his fans are in every street of every cricket loving city over here. Lets just sweep the debut series and pay a great tribute to Jumbo, Jammy, Dada and Sachin, the quartet that brought India truly on World test cricket map. Man I wonder how things will be without them. Hope the youngies have the talent and pride to continue.
