Dravid's 214 runs are a slap on the face of Vengsarkar
by Alok Sharma on Nov 06, 2007 06:00 PM

Indeed, what a fitting reply to Vengsarkar today from Rahul Dravid, and all his baiters from one particular city of India in the east. Eat your heart out. Dada will keep on dropping catches and keep making 40 runs in 70 balls. And we are still supposed to worship Dada...

But to people who set fire to stadiums when:

i) India loses in world cup to Sri Lanka

ii) Tendulkar gets run out against Pakistan

it really doesn't matter. Bhalo achche dada.
If anyone has any doubts about Dravid's score, go to
cricinfo.

Rahul Very Important to stablize the middle order
by arvind on Nov 06, 2007 05:58 PM

As i understand many of you many argue that
gambhir
dhoni
and yuvi won the match for india yesterday .
however i defer to agree that it was dropped catches by pakistan that won us the match.
If gambhir was caught then dhoni and yuvi would have been under pressure and dhoni does not have technique to with stand the quality attack and play anchor role in stabilizing the innings .it is uphill and almost impossible tak for him.
yuvi may play superb match saving innings ,however whenever you look back there is dravid at other end when he has played that innings. If dhoni is trying to play innings that Dravid played for india for so many days not possible dude ,you do not have the patience and skill to do that .So reserve the the num three slot for Dravid .so selectors have take rotation policy and keep ganguly and sehwag and gambhir and select them wisely according to pitches .when pitch is slow will assist in later part for spinners take sehwag.when ball seams a little take ganguly .keep them rested atlernatively with gambhir.

Dravid has shown in one inning that he suitabl;e for both forms of the game.
by Sanjeev Verma on Nov 06, 2007 02:45 PM  | Hide replies

Dravid has shown in one inning that he is suitable for both form of the game.

He took 178 balls to score 77 runs and when situation demanded then Dravid scored last 137 runs in 152 balls at a strike rate of 90.

This was a perfect 2-in-1 performance. Also, he has shown how to bat on a tough first day pitch.

People were talking about good performance in domestic cricket and he has shown that in one outing itself. It make me wonder whether he was really out of form!

Dravid is a man of rare Dignity. He has kept silent throughout this controversy except for making a simple statement when microphone was thrust into his face: "We have a long season ahead". Unlike ganguly, Dravid did not talk about his 10,000 runs in ODI matches. Even Sanjay Majarekar has to say that Dravid has been the India's most unselfish player in the past decade.

Dravid commands respect from educated people all over the world. This was evident when no effigies were burnt Bangalore unlike in Kolkata when Ganguly was dropped few months back. Yet decent folks and non-burners of effigies have reacted with force across the country. Just look who are speaking in behalf of Dravid-Sandeep Patil, Sanjay Manjarekar, Ajay Jadeja, Anshuman Gaekwad, Madan Lal and list goes on. He has his admirers in all cricketing nations of the world:Ian Bell,Younis Khan, Ricky Ponting, Ian Chappel and many others. I still remember that Ian Bell said couple on months back that Dravid was the best player in Indian Team. It is a statement of fact that Dravid is rated even higher than Tendulkar in world cricket today. Probably many people do not remember but Dravid has been involved in two highest partnerships in the history of ODI cricket--this is for those who do not consider him to be a good ODI player.

Sanjeev, no one else could have described Dravid better than how you have described him above. Three cheers to you !! Here's to our great 'Wall' coming back into the ODI team for the 3rd ODI, all the best, 'Wall'.

atal advani--you are a disgrace--you are a parochial joker with a pseudonym---i am not a Sindian but i see lot of you(uneducated and uncultured) i guess who keep saying dravidian, idly etc --do you have no other words-ok you are in love with dada and there are many "avenues" open to you to show your love and appreciation--do not get carried away and keep repeating lies thinking that people believe you.
Now when gangs will get dropped in future will you start blaming Dhoni--will you start attributing names to him also.
Pls stop your ridiculous stuff once and for all
