and ofcourse the classic batting of Sachin Tendulkar.
Who can forget his historic innings at Chennai - a masterpiece notwithstanding the result.

Let's build a team for the future!
by K Chandru on Nov 03, 2007 10:34 AM

There are only 11 spots avialable and more than twice or thrice the number of good cricketers are vying for a spot. With the zonal selectors trying to push their candidates, the ageing heroes not willing to relnquish their spots, believing they still have something to offer, the media criticizing every decision and pushing its choices too, make the selection committee's job tough and all the more difficult. Take the case of poor Badrinath. He's already 27. He's been scoring heavily in every given opportunity against all kinds of opposition at all venues for the past 2 years or so. Yet he's waiting and waiting keeping his fingers crossed and wasting his prime years of top cricket. We the public too are devided on regional, and even religion basis. Australia and South Africa excel because their boards have the courage to take bolder decisions when need to be taken. Had anyone known Graham Smith when he was appointed as captain ahead of experienced players like Kallis and Gibbs? They have the courage to drop a player of Pollock's calibre. Ausies too axed players however big they were when they were not performing. Whereas, we'll shield a few with the customary "Form is temporary and class is permanent" dialogue. 3 or more consecutive failures should see the exit of any player, however big he is. We need bolder and neutral selectors who think the nation's interests ahead of anything else.

Welcome intelligent supporters of Rahul Dravid.
by Marenge Dannda on Nov 02, 2007 08:24 PM  | Hide replies

Welcome intelligent supporters of Rahul Dravid.
Rahul is a very interesting and flamboyant player.
He all along stood by Ganguly and players who were respectful to Ganguly.
He had no role to play in the conspiracy against Ganguly.
He rather wanted to keep Saurav always in the team.
He on the field always took advice from Saurav.
He never wanted to promote Raina or Pathan up the order to seal the palce left by Ganguly.
He never declared an innings with just 4 runs left for Sachin to get an well deserved 200.
All the player young or old always enjoyed a sense of security during his regime.
All these reasons contributed to Dravid's tremendous success in the last ODI world cup.
Dravid supporters are the only intelligent people in the world. My salute goes to all of them.

Rahul has never won matches for India.it because others have played beautifully at one end and he wasted the balls at other so it has led to india to lose badly. is it correct Mr.Marenge?
2.All the players now who have come into team is because of MR.Sharad Powar.
3.ganguly should have stayed in the team after good performance all along 1.5 years is it ?
4.Pathan and sehwag were never supported by Dravis during the world cup and next season is it/
5.You want to see sachin with 200 and india on losing side is it/
6.players feeling secure is not good sign and playing like rather they have cementted the place in the team is it/
7.what about the oversea matches he has won for us and also the test match victories in england ,pakistan after a gap nearly two decades.
i Salute you Mr for trying hard to show Dravid down.BUt what ever you say your comments reflect that you are more concerned about ganguly and sachin than India winning matches.

Anil Kumble should be captian of the Test Team
by Prashanth Reddy on Nov 02, 2007 04:14 AM  | Hide replies

Anil Kumble should be the captain of the Test Team. He deserves it by sheer experience and performance. Sachin had been given the opportunity 2 times. we should give it to Anil now....he has the drive and passion and the intelligence too. No one in tis team has the aggression that he possesses. But he is aperfect gentleman too at the same time.

ya but kumble is now retiring and we need a test captain who can stay along for another 4-5 years. Sachin can play test cricket for another 4-5 years though he may quit one-days early next year or so...

atches and series Tendulkar have won for Idia recently -

1. vs Bangldesh (Test series) - Won by India - Highest scorer in the series - Tendulkar; MOS - Sachin Tendulkar.

2. vs South Africa (ODI series) - Won by India - Highest scorer in the series - Tendulkar; MOS - Sachin Tendulkar.

3. vs England (Test series) - Won by India - 2nd Test won by India - Tendulkar's 1st innings score = 91.

4. vs England (ODI series) - Lost by India - 2nd match won by India - Tendulkar's score = 99; 5th match won by India, Tendulkar's score = 71; 6th match won by India - Tendulkar's score = 94; 6th match - Tendulkar victim of wrong decision, out for 30.
ALMOST WON THE SERIES FOR INDIA EXCEPT FOR THE BAD DECISION AGAINST HIM IN THE LAST DECIDING MATCH. HIGHEST SCORER FOR INDIA AND SERIES AVERAGE = 53.4

5. vs Australia (lost) - Highest scorer for India - Tendulkar.
SERIES LOST BY INDIA 2/4, BUT IT WAS EXPECTED SINCE IT WAS AGAINST AUSTRALIA. AT LEAST IT WASEN'T A WHITE-WASH.

This is Tendulkar's list of matches and series recently won for India.

KUMBLE HAS TEST CAPTAIN OF INDIAN TEST TEAM
by arvind on Nov 02, 2007 03:11 AM  | Hide replies

There has been long debate for the test captaincy ,
I would rather go with Kumble has tset captain just not because he is one senoir player because of his sheer performance and hi abillity to take wickets in india and abroad including Australia last season who was the leading wicket taker for series as spinner when there was presence of shane at the other end.As indivucal u can see the agression and passion for the game of cricket .NOT to mention he fittest player on board now with bowling around 35-40 overs per day in the burning sun .So Kumble go get it or this will not be given to you by this ruling mumbai board.there are bunch of jokers in mumbai board who now are in selection committe.Prove them wrong guys ...make mumbai bite dust in first test.Dravid has nothing to lose but just as to concentrate on his technique and not be bogged by this youngsters hitting sixes. They will finally say for us to hit sixers we should have cushion of someone taking the responsibility of anchoring at the other end.Player like is hard to come by
examples are
kallis for S.a called back for the team proved his worth.
MOH.YOUNUs for Paki
Jayawardhene for srilanka..(almost there but yet to)
no one for west indies so u see the consequence on display.
England by god they are one team with all ingredients and fail to achieve .Andrew staruss.
Australia...Ricky pointing.
i would conclude by saying so its time for indian Selectors to realize there mistake and get the combination .

arvind get over it mate...do you want to speak about the Ranji and Irani trohpy wins by Mumbai. Let alone the number of quality players Mumbai has produced. Your comments shows the angst in your heart for mumbai..But boy lobbying doesn't happen overnight. Its requires both politically and intellectually strong people to rule. Mumbai offers this in abundance currently. Keep whingin' you scummies of other states. Mumbai is here to rule sitting on your chest..

i have No Anst for mumbai ,however but for the people of selection committee who are from mumbai and are making themseleves a jokers by giving stupid reasons for dropping great player like Dravid.you tell Politically and intellectucally strong persons ruling ,that is not required to run a selection committe dude .All you need is person with passion and understanding of cricket.Above all maturity enough to give reasons for media for dropping A Player. So wake up boy stop day Dreaming thinking Mumbai is ruling .
Even in poltics, they are just bunch jokers from congress who do chamcha giri of lady up there.
