Sad....
by Kart on May 29, 2007 09:30 AM  | Hide replies

It is sad that BCCI did not receive many applications for the post of coach.Look at Pakistan,Srilanka and Bangladesh they have received applications for the post of coach from all over the cricket playing nations.
It is due to the BCCI,media and people of this country that nobody wants to coach our team. Now look at the media they are asking stupid questions like why is our fielding and Bowling looking bad even though we have a bowling and fielding coach.I think we should give time to both Prasad and Robin as it is their first tour as coaches. We are very impatient, we expect results instantly this attitude needs to be changed.

dude, get your facts right. no one is interested in coaching the Pakistanis. Tom Moody opted to coach an Australian state side (who wouldn't, considering the earlier coach of Pakistan died during the WC, and there is so much mystery surrounding it?), the Sri Lankans are still looking, and 'so many coaching applications for bangladesh??? From whom, may I ask?

Blaming the BCCI is fine, they deserve to be blamed, but don't state things that are not true.

Criticising Sachin ... !
by sylesh gopan on May 28, 2007 11:03 PM  | Hide replies

I this forum someone was using abusive language against somebody who criticized Sachin. Why you wanna resort to this language. Why dont you defend sachin with a positive spirit. Its not that sachin is above criticism, is it ? So if somebody is criticizing him and if you have ur argument on that - then do it. But it doesnt give the debate a good color by these words. Coming to Sachin %u2013 To all those who still thinks he is the BEST -> there was a period in which he was the KING. fearless, determined, full of enthusiasm, energy, ready to take on any attack - any where, spin, pace anything. There was a time where bowlers who got him out in a match used to have their nightmare against him in the next match - Olongo, traves frnd, shane warne, paul strang, devillers, kasporovich,akhtar.. list is big. BUT, can you keep your hand on ur chest - by being honest to your SELF, and tell that sachin is a damn good player NOW ? he is just a VERY Avg player for the last 4 years. He is not the BEST anymore - he was, but not anymore. Can you recollect an innings from him changing the course of the game against QUALITY attack in the last 3,4 years. Can you pls tell me how we didnot win the last test match in S.A ? How can you justify his batting in the whole series. I%u2019m not getting to his W.C performance. Now dont say that I'm blindly criticizing him...If you become true to yourself and also if you have the facts and figures in front of you - you will also realize this.

sylesh - I am not stating that he is the BEST anymore (atleast in test cricket)...

In the last 3 years, his performance has suffered and he has played very defensively. there is no question about that.

however, the source of the problem is not his place in the side ... he remains india's top 3 batsman., even today and unless someone presents factual discussion otherwise - there is nothing that changes my belief.

i also think, his present state of defensive play, esp in test cricket is due to the lack of clarity of his role at best or his unwillingness to accept a role at worst. i think this is where a good coach can play a part. Greg was aweful and shastri was no more than decent. i am waiting to see what the next coach will do.

Sylesh or whoever... have patience. The team and Sachin was doing good before Chappell. Its a known fact. Greg systematically dismantled the team. They are having a low morale currently esp sachin. Anybody can understand the grudge people have on Sachin especially South Indians because of Dravid Support. But the day you see Sachins one more quick innings you will forget everything. Patience is the key. A tiger does not become a sheep within few years its only circumstances (read Greg) that make the tiger believe he is a sheep. Wait for Whatmore and see the tiger roar. Above all 2 centuries back 2 back is not that bad for slowly coming back in groove. Cheers! Believe me don't attack mumbai just for the sake of it. After all we have given cricket more champions and are still providing more than rest of india put together. Sachin alone is worth more than cricket. There are many people who just watch cricket for Sachin. Whatever you say it does not matter. He is GOD of cricket and show some respect while speaking against him don't use derogatory words. That is the reason you draw flak on yourself whenever you jokers abuse Sachin.

Patience..? A tiger did not become sheep overnight. But it did over 4,5 years.C'mon man, 2 back to back centuries..? what are you talking about. Are you trying to say that he is good enough now a days for bowlilng attacks like of BAN? This is the problem of Indian cricket, most of the people like you are individual centric.More than the team, you wish these indiavidual succeed. If my words didnt irk you or it didnt matter..why did you take the time out and replied me ??? How sort of a GOD is he , who can score runs against Bangladesh & Bermuda or cannot consistently score against quality attack?TO counter my argument you may well have to take his career to 1997-98s.And I did respect him for that, but anymore..as I still cannot understand what he was trying to achieve by the way he was batting against SA in the last test which we should have won comfirtably and the series there by. So the tag JOKER fits to crazy people like you , not me buddy.

Andy, None of us discussed anything about Mumbai neither about South India in this post. Sylesh has made it clear that the discussion should be healthy. So, why bring this difference.

You say Sachin alone is worth more than cricket? I believe you can't be a sportsman. Ask Sachin and he will say that he has not given even 10% to the game of cricket. And you rate Sachin above cricket. Secondly you say that circumstances make a tiger feel that he is a sheep. Invalid. Sachin is still a tiger, but an old tiger. An old tiger hunts by its wit and not by its strength. This is what is missing in Tendulkar. He is a class batsman, but has to use some cricketing brains. Once he does that, what ever u say my dear friend, Andy will absolutely happen.
