Have you gone crazy? I think you should check with a psychiatrist! Why should Dravid quit? Have you seen his records? Dravid lead the team that won both ODI and Test series in Bangladesh, hit 1 half century and one century and remains to be among the TOP 10 batsmen in test for a long long time! None of the other Indian batsmen are into TOP 1O right now!

Are you comparing Dravid to Basher? You have gone crazy! Shed your pessimism and prjudices against Indian Cricket team and be realistic!

God, please help him!

While thanking both of you for your insight into BD and India's cricket, I would disagree that Bashar had done the right thing now. He could have quit when his effigys were being burnt. Even now, he just quit the captaincy, that too for ODIs. He still aspires to play in ODIs and captain tests. At 34 and totally out of form and with a lot of youngsters waiting in the ranks, not sure what his chances are if BD selects the team on merit.

Why Dravid does not resign as captain?? Simply because he thinks he can do a good job of it..and he does not want to yet.

Mortaza Should be the captain
by Salil Goyal on May 27, 2007 10:02 PM  | Hide replies

Bashar has done well by stepping down. He was struggling with the bat for quite sometime and once a captain struggles, how can he motivate his players to do well? He is definitely not a one day candidate for me. However, he can still be included in tests and I think you will see a much improved n determined bashar then.

Asharful will not form a good captain as he doesn't have self-control which can be seen in the way he has been wasting his talent by getting out impatiently for so many years.

Mortaza can be captain because he is a very good bowler, bowls with determination and unarguably Bangladesh's best bowler. Moreover, he is more than handy with the bat. And he looks captain like stuff to me. They should set an example by making him captain in a world where most of the captains are pure batsmen.

Not bad analysis. However, you know little about Asharful. Wait and watch. He has right temperament for captaincy.

That wasnt needed!
by Sridhar Reddy on May 27, 2007 09:40 PM

This is a time when Bangladesh needed him the most.. they are a confident lot now and an experienced captin is essential. Bashar shoudnt have done that... Butnow that he has already taken the decision, Bangladesh might be tempted to make Mohd. Ashraful the captain, but they shouldnt do this mistake.
