we really appreciate kartik for his dedication towards batting inspite top oreders batsman were there he managed to take a leap.
All were expecting same from him and he too did the same and turned his fate .
Eventually we can say it was the team effort and which really vame fruitful.

Mental Toughness
by sridhar sridhar on May 28, 2007 10:47 PM

Karthik is strong enough and determined to prove wrong on his critics commenting his ability to bat under seaming conditions in england. Iam sure those who have noticed his solid front defence showing the full blade and straight punches to boundaries are convinced with his batting capabilities. He is a good thinking cricketer who has quickly adapted to both forms of cricket, amazingly he has won the Twenty matches for India in SA and then performed at highest levels to win ODI's for India. Iam sure this guy has the mental toughness to be a fantastic cricketer for India.

Karthik is like Steve Waugh!!!

Captain of Australia was not all a good batsman. His technique is not all that great! But He scored hell lot of runs in Test and one day matches! How, he plays to his strength. Its just his determination and focus that made him a good cricketer. I see the same qualities in Karthik.

very true man....it is just amazing to see the mental toughness and hunger karthick has shown....we need some more like him....no doubt greg identified him as a leadership material...i think BCCI should try him as a captain for the ireland team and give him team full of youngsters..i hope he can teach a thing or two regarding dedication to sachin and saurav...

Karthik talent is realit unique
by anand v on May 27, 2007 12:14 PM

I fell that Indian team as found a good opener for the near future. I am not rating kartik of his recent success in Bangladesh, but also his success with other team when he has given an opportunity.

From now the he must rated as long term prospect for the Indian team.

Don't blame you for being such a pessimist..yes, we have all been hurt by the constant failures of this Indian team. But for a change, here we have someone who has that quality which we haven't seen over the last few years. Fighting spirit !!! and putting team's interest ahead of self. Lets just applaud and not idiolise those who perform well and Indian cricket will definitely see better days in the future.

I have no doubt kartik is a good player, but just wait n watch his consistency. It would be nice seeing him continue like this for a long time. although this hasn't happened for quite a while for indian opening pair. Anyway all the best young chap

The consistency should be maintained against the strong team. Because we have seen these earlier, batting against minnows good, but failing against strong team. This is history of Indian Cricket Team. After world cup debacle, completly i lost faith in indian team. Lots of politics, have less pride when compared to team like australia.

I think indian people should realize that india is as good as rank 7-8 in the world (in test only WI is worse out of top 8 i guess) and stop comparing or hoping of them doing well against aus, south africa...even against england, srilanka or nzl they r only good at home..
So people should make up their minds and be happy whenever they win; it doesnt matter which team they beat..
India's highest achievement and close to top 3 teams was when they reched 2003 wc final and then played well in AUS and PAK..that was the peak of india...since then once they started falling down...they are right back in bottom 3-4 where they always were..even when Azhar or Sachin were captains..
Dont hope too much in terms of consistancy or commenting and comparing or assuming how they will be against SA or AUS or next Eng tour..
Just enjoy when they play well and stop regretting otherwise..

I totally agree with Hiren. I realized same thing after india got out of the world cup that we expect too much from a team that is comparable with banladesh not australia or south africa. that is the realty of team India thats how it has been and thats how it will be. As the saying goes "apne ghar main to chuha bhi sher hota hai". But when playing out of India they no better than Bangladesh.
