Balaji is missing. Where is he ?
by cajetan coelho on Jun 01, 2007 03:22 PM

The list of bowlers looks impressive. But upcoming Balaji is missing. There is plenty of cricket yet to come from the Tamil quickie.

Only 29 ??
by Indian Fan on May 29, 2007 02:28 PM

Raina, Srivastav, Venugopal Rao should have been included in the camps

Surprising to see Balaji not included. Arn't English wickets similar to Australian Wickets where Balaji started off with a bang? What about Irfan Pathan's brother? Dont know his name but he sounds genuine spinner something like young Ashley Giles in my opinion.

What about allrounders like Joginder Sharma and Praveen Kumar?

Not a single genuine quick bowler
by CricketLover on May 27, 2007 11:13 PM

Out of the 14 bowlers, there are 9 pace bowlers and none of them can bowl 140kph consistently. RP Singh despite taking wickets in BD test is useless as shown in 2nd innings of the 1st test. Even in the 1st innings of the 1st test despite taking 3 wickets, he was consistently bowling either too short or too wide. 2 out of 3 wickets came due to batsmen's mistakes. Zaheer lost lot of pace, Agarkar is inconsistent, Sreesanth is good but not really top class. Munaf is now bowling more like a slow medium bowler, mostly because he is unfit or too lazy.(What has happened to all the hype about him bowling at 145kph??) Ishant Sharma is OK, not that great even considering that he is just 19. He still has age on his side and should concentrate on increasing his pace by couple of yards atleast. From whatever I have seen or heard about Ranadeb Bose, he is just medium paced. (Everyone thinks that he can be a McGrath and think that line and length is everything, but forget that McGrath has ability to swing the ball both ways and can extract good bounce. The spinners the cupboard is empty. After Kumble who is going to carry the attack? Forget Harbhajan, he is very overrated. Powar is better than Harbhajan but his fielding is below par.Piyush Chawla? (Not very impressed with his bowling, though he can improve. His action is slightly side on, does not turn his leg spinners that much)

29 for fitness camp
by Lakshminarayanan TS on May 27, 2007 08:14 PM

it is surprising that suresh raina is not in the list. also when r v going to get ridof all old war horses? it is time now for us to encourage young and talented cricketers instead of depending on all old players who r record mongers and whose only aim is to get individual fame and they just dont bother about our countrys interest. they have also earned enough money for another 7 generations. i need not wish to name these old war horses.however i am naming them here.
tendulkar, lakshman, ganguli, kumble, and allothers who feel shaky while playing

Praveen Kumar
by on May 27, 2007 07:22 PM  | Hide replies

I think Nehra should still have been considered. Praveen Kumar should have been considered as he is an all rounder. Its not possible to select everyone considering that India is desperately looking for all rounders, Praveen Kumar should have been given a chance. What would it cost the rich BCCI to call a young talent to such a camp?

Nehra is not good anymore. After the injuries he lost lot of pace and not able to take wickets even in the domestic games. Moreover he was never fit and his fielding was always below par. At his peak he was very good and probably the quickest amongst the Indian bowlers as he could consistently hit the deck at more than 140kph mark and had that ability to swing the ball both ways. But the lack of fitness caused his downfall.

The BCCI has proved once again they are jerks...

They have forgotten:
1) Suresh Raina
2) Jogingir Sharma (allrounder)
3) Praveen Kumaar (allrounder)

Where is the allrounders camp?
India needs competition for allrounders as this is what we lack.

You have made a good point mate. Suresh Raina though is injured. Praveen Kumar should have been included.

you are right...all three especially raina and P Kumar should have been included. P Kumar is putting a lot of good performances with both bat and ball in domestic cricket...at least he deserves a chance...

by ranjeet patro on May 27, 2007 10:21 AM  | Hide replies

Drop Ganguly. His`days are over as a oneday batsman, but keep him for test macthes...For that matter even Tendulkar is also pathetic in oneday matches.

Ireland XI?
by Jayanth Shah on May 26, 2007 08:05 PM  | Hide replies

taking into account the ireland series is not too important, im guessing it will be used for young players or to experiment to see if players are rejuvenated. if this is the case, my 11 would be:

sehwag
uthappa/gambhir
badrinath (not sure where he bats)
kaif
mongia
karthik (wk)
pathan
bose
VRV singh/sreesanth (coming back from injury)
sharma
oza (what does he do??)

what would ure 11 be?

good XI...except i would select manoj tiwari or rohit sharma instead of mongia. send pathan to seniors team and bring P Kumar instead. Instead of oza, bring piyush chawla
also captain would be karthik. i think he is a real leadership material. After both teams come back from their respective tours...have a match between them...i'm sure karthiks team will kick senior morons..

Why Kaif? What he has done since his last game- did he score lots of run to merit a recall? We dont need Mongia (dont know why his name keeps coming up despite him proving repeatedly that he is not good enough - this guy cannot hit hard in slog overs, neither is he the greatest runner between wickets who can rotate the strike). Instead include Raina (atleast he fields brilliantly) and can score more runs than Mongia could score.

yea ive heard nabi is supposed 2 be the fastest bowler in india? but he is only around 20 - he should not be put in indian team straight away and then have too much pressure on him

I heard he (Nabi) has no money to pay the shameless selectors to get into probables list.
