Amazing BCCI

BCCI VERDICT: Endorsements effect players performance.
RESULT: Put Cap on endorsements and throw out the sponsors (who sponsor players)

Don't you think that it should be other way round. Throw out players who are not performing and allow the performing players to earn???

Couldn't agree more with you, this feels more like a knee-jerk reaction rather than a well thought out policy. Restrictions would only lead to players falling foul to temptation like bookies and match fixing and stuff.

They should have a performance oriented policy , where the player is free to earn as much as they can from endorsements but their performance is reviewed regularly, with the review being harsher on senior players as they are more experienced and more is expected of them and this should be done without BIAS for regionalistic, linguistic or religious considerations....all the best Team India

ban all ads
by Harish on May 24, 2007 12:08 PM  | Hide replies

it is better to ban all advertisements and endorsements anyway. first of all, BCCI revenue from endorsements is supposed to be used for the development of the sport in the country and to encouage youngsters. BCCI is least bothered about development of the sports and they certainly dont want to encouage young talent. all the money is being swindled by a few officials of the BCCI and the so-called senior players.
thats why it is better to ban all endorsements. the gate collections are enough to pay minimum subsistence allowance to the players.

Yes Kalyani. The senior players are so badly paid, they must be going hungry for days.Isn't it?
But money for what? Our cricket team is as pathetic as our hockey team. Why should they get paid at all?For losing matches, when it matters? For winning matches against Zimbabwe,Bermuda,Bangladesh????
If all the countries played cricket, then our ranking would be just like how we fare in football.
These cricketers have given enough heart burns to the cricket lovers in India,in last two years.
I think that we need to shift our focus to other games.

why on earth should one stop watching a game to encourage another? why cannot one support all the games? india is not a sporting nation and most of the so called fans do not use their head. they do not know the ABC of any game. the level of hockey has subsided not coz of lack of support but coz of useless people like Gill who is clinging on to his position even when we are finishing in the bottom two in every competition. and what about the IOA president Kalmadi? another politician with no interest in Indian sport. Indian sports need to be cured at the root by trying to imbibe sporting culture right into the primary level in schools.

this is exactly what i predicted ..
by kalyan chatrathi on May 24, 2007 11:18 AM

this is exactly what i predicted in my blog sometime back.

instead of the players having endorsements from companies, BCCI will have endorsements and the team will have to follow them (and that is why PDM Sports is involved)

BCCI has such spineless people whose only agenda is to make money for themselves. Atleast the players had accountability, ST, SG, RG and ads from host of others were pulled off the air after the CWC loss. A few sponsors might drop out at the end of the contract unless india performs magic in Australia, but no such ill-fortune for the BCCI ....

i wish the players fight this in court as BCCI will lose heavily based on the supreme court ruling in 1989

Remove non-cricketing members from BCCI

Remove all non-cricketing members who did not
play test (at least 50) and ODI (at least 100)
from BCCI. In Australia or recognized ranking
country all board members are cricketers.

Beautiful Logic ..
Let us extend your logic further ..

Any one who hasn't been elected as MP before should be banned from criticizing an MP.

May be only ex-MPs should be allowed in selecting new Members of Parliament.

Stupid argument . Why do u go for a doctor to get treatment for some disease , go near a politican and ask him for medicine (he is ruling the nation , he will give u good medicine) .Do u think Australians are fools to have a Cricket Board with Cricketrs .. If every one in India have a say in BCCI as there are watching cricket , then i also want to play cricket for India ...

A doctor knows about curing disease.

A cricket player knows about how to hit a ball or how to bowl a ball.

Where did you get the notion that an old cricket player would make a better manager ?!

Just because some one (Australia) is running naked around street doesn't mean that you have to run naked.

Just because some one played for India doesn't mean that, they know about cricket.

What a good player need is good hand eye coordination. Not necessarily a strategic cricket skills. There had lot of stupid cricket players.

People who did not play a Test for India must be banned from watching cricket matches.

You want the sucker fans only for buying advertised products and you don't want to have their say in BCCI???

my dear friend,
i think its about time someone put a stop to these stupid ads....i think its us, the foolish cricket fans who make our stupid players look larger than life, to believe that they are capable of more than they really are! just imagine, a guy is fresh, comes new, and immediately is hounded with claims of big money, more than most of us see in a lifetime! no wonder their cricketing skils go into the dustbin and their acting skills only improve! i think its a good move by the bcci, and about time that our wonderful "men in blue" thought about playing cricket for a change and not gulli danda on the cricketing field!

you are right skanda. we keep feeding them more and more money through ads and, over a period of time, many of our "current" cricketers have forgotten how to bat or bowl and are better actors than many of our professional actors!
