There is a difference between the two you know?

"The BCCI, which is looking to fill its coffers at every opportunity, didn't feel the need to consider the elements before saying yes".

Is that your opinion or are you "Reporting" that?

Nice :) Good catch, Scifilvr.
The news reporters need to be more careful in the way they write stuff. It seems to me that his (author's) opinion is coming off as a fact (which needs proof).

You know what, opinionated reporting is becoming quite a habit with this Harish Kotian fellow. I remember reading a couple of other articles by him and remember thinking the same thing.

Bad journalism, Harish, bad journalism.

Dravid - World's best ambassador for promoting Cricket!...
by crick on May 21, 2007 06:40 PM  | Hide replies

ICC has chosen Dravid as the Cheif for promoting Cricket in Non-Cricket playing nations.

ICC has come up with an idea to send most of the Australian Team(?!) members under Dravid's captaincy to play matches against minnows
UAE,Uganda,Bermuda,Namibia.

ICC chairman, later told the media that, "We want to inject more of confidence to these Teams to beat a team consisting players from Ausi Team. We've found non other than Dravid could do this job better. Further Bangladesh has now emerged as a competing side to challenge any test playing nation. It's not only because of Whatmore / Bashar, considerable credit should go to Dravid as well. So We're confident that, Dravid will continue doing his excellent work by leading this team with full of Ausie players, and inject confidence in the listed nations to play a competitive cricket against the other Test playing Nations".

later Dravid said, "He need Sehwag as well in the team". when the reporters asked him for th e reason, he said, "He is the most reliable player, and whenever he is in the team, he will get the morale booster that, He is not going to be the LOWEST SCORED batsman in the Team".

not only dravid, we have a teamful of players who are equally/ more eager to prove the captain right (acc. to your story). we have the wonderful ganguly who played so slow we got ejected right out of the world cup, that too against bangladesh! we have sehwag who's reallymessed things from the start. we have tendlia who plays only against teams like bangla - to show them how to play. we have kumble an old war veteran who thnks he's still relevant in one dayers. we have yuvraj singh who thinks his past glory can save him after not completeing yet another prmosing innnings. we have bhajjie who thinks he's the pnly gifted spinner n the indian team (you see kumble doesnt spin at all), and yet he is completely ineffective; we have dhoni who's interested in introducing styling trends than batting and keeping well... etc etc

so only dravid's responsible, you were sayn something ?

Suggestion to BCCI...
by crick on May 21, 2007 05:51 PM  | Hide replies

Please schedule matches with Aussies,SA & SL only during rainy season alone... so that, we will TRY to avoid series loss & can TRY to come back undefeated...

If possible, it'll give an opportunity for the OLDIES to increase their Century count, without any winning pressure... they can just concentrate on Individual score...

Winning / Losing is common for all the Team.. Our people know there is no charm in that... but, having a HUGE record run is important... Just Let them do it...

We can be proud of Individuals record in Cricket... who bother if Team India is 8/9/10 position in the RANKINGS....

yes our "youngsters" have not performed. The bench strength is low and weak. That is why seniors can't sit on it ;). Seriously not one major talent has emerged in the past few years and we have to turn to Pathan, Kaif, yuvraj sooner than later

If by "major talent", you mean someone like Sachin Tendulkar then you're being a tad too demanding, aren't you?

Youngsters need their seniors to perform consistently so that they are not under extreme pressure from the word go. Clarke is well shielded by sensible batting from Hayden & Ponting and so has been able to build experience & confidence without being scrutinised by selectors & media day in day out. Can't say quite the same for our boys, especially poor Raina who we really ought to have persisted with despite a bad patch.

Also, if a youngster is to perform well in pressure situations, it is important for him to have faced similar situations in domestic cricket and come out on top after a struggle. The Hussey-type "I like to go in at 30/4 and resurrect an innings" attitude needs to be inculcated at the domestic level not International.
