hi Guys,

who gave the formal training to act in ads to our cricketers????....none!!! but they do them with great elan..all kinds of expressions, running around..what not...some cricketers even joined the films after the cricket carreer vanished......so now scracth ur brains dude.....do these guys in blue require a coach...all depends on their interest to perform for the country.......all they think is when they dive for a catch they might might get hurt or bruised ..they might not look better for the add which should be shoot next day....if this is the attitude..we will have good looking cricketers with littele bit of cricket which every indian have in this blood....so guys lets say no for cricket for a while and lets support many other sports which need our die hard fan support......may be hockey....think!!!

WHY A COACH ??????????????/
by kkeevviinn on May 21, 2007 01:52 PM  | Hide replies

My question is "WHY YOU NEED A COACH AT ALL????????. You mean to say that these guys still needs to be coached even after comming into International standerds?
Ok, one needs to be coached at the elementry level on basics of the game and technices specially to be a good player. Once you pick up the technices it's up to the individual to polish them, brush them up.
Why these guys still do not know their basics???? That may be true by looking at their performance.
How rediculous is it when someone say that "I HAVE GIVEN MY HEART AND SOUL FOR INDIAN CRICKET FOR THE LAST 17 YAERS" and you need a coach in the team. What the hell were you doing for 17 years with the others around you???
Some one is cheating here for sure. Either people who say that they played for 17 years or the international coaches.
This is just a wate of money. It's only two simple factors.
1. You need a coach to teach your players the basics of the game.
2. If your national players do not know the basics how come they be in the national team.???
Why you waste your time & money on foreign coaches when you have all the talent in India??
You know why??? "THANKS TO INDIAN FANS NO INDIAN WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THAT POSITION BECAUSE THAY ARE SCARED THAT THEIR FAMILIES ALSO WOULD BE KILLED IF THE GREAT PLAYERS DONT PERFORM"
That's the only reason why you always look for foreign coaches. Proove me wrong.

coach is not to teach the basic!!! ok its a game
the players can concentrate only on their perfomance,,,, to put ever thing in order, to plan things for the team, to anayalse own player & oppistion team,,, there are many job for a coach to look about, not just TEACHING BASIC's, if say that coach it to teach basic then i think you are not following cricket that much.........

Chill out kkeevviinn
"WHY YOU NEED A COACH AT ALL????????

Because players do need corrections at international level...nobody is perfect.

Its not just Indian team who is searching for good coach... World cup winner Australia has coach. Ask Ricky Ponting ..if he denies having a necessity of coach.

They are looking for foreign coaches... may be because foreign coaches can look what is wrong with out prospective of looking the game ...they are not raised here... so its more possible that they are above the indian politics...may be... i think its a good reason.

What is the selection criteria
by Mayank on May 21, 2007 12:15 AM

I do not think about cricket as much as I used to do before the greg Chappell era in indian cricket. however, there is no escape. I wonder what is the criteria for the coach selection? Since india is a populous country, question come to mind why not an indian? Is there no body in india who can coach? What about the Ranji team coaches? Are they happy to coach only the Ranji teams and no further? If we don't have an indian who can coach indian team, isn't that a serious problem?

first give some lessons about how to handle the bat. then scores will automatically come. don't tell anything to kumble because he may teach u lesson about bowling. Give some tips about how to hold the ball. if necessary buy some 100 ltrs of Fevicol. Buy some concrete sheets which have to be put behind the fielders in order to stop the ball from crossing the boundary line. Even after this if India doesn't win matches, u don't come to india

Fear of loosing the place for seniors and the encouragement of giving time to youngsters
by karthik on May 20, 2007 06:33 PM

is the only way to go.. Let a saching be given five innings for a 100 (the current record is 17 innings) and for a Dinesh karthik ( 5 innings for a 50). thats how it should be..

whatmore the only choice
by abhilash babu on May 20, 2007 04:47 PM

Hello all,
Thanks for your comments, but I think what need to change is the attitude of the Indians, including Indian cricket, Everyone knows that the Indian cricket team is a good side, they failed in WC, beaten by minnow Bengladesh, but the fact is that Indian team is far far better than Bengladesh team, what they lacks- right attitude, if Mr. Dave could contribute something to change this attitude, the whole outlook of the Indian team would change- I am sure. As well as, the attitude of the followers also must be changed, please consider players as humans not as gods, humans will make mistake and peril at times, support them, to boost up their confidence

Coach/BCCI
by abdul nazeer on May 20, 2007 03:32 PM

I really dont understand why for each and every decision, shastri, gavaskar, kapil is being discussed, they are good players, but i dont see any great future with these cricketing brains, there are lot more players who might make a difference to the thinking of the bcci. What is shastri & gavaskar's attitude during their playing days. There are many international players to give their opinions and views. They are the ones who supported greg chappell, i dont tell that chappell is not good coach, if we cannot beat bangladesh in a high profile tournament, please dont blame coach. Almost 100,000 international runs with the team, not able to dominate a weak opponent. Please dump shastri and gavaskar from the committee (i am not against mumbai).
