Vengsarkar

Mr. Vengsarkar could have expressed his feelings directly to Sehwag or better through Shastri, but he preferred other way. I encourage him to keep on doing just like this.

Few more statements like will reveal the cause of recent failure and then sudden reversal against Bangladesh.

Indian cricket is run by politicians and businessmen who are already occupied with so many other things and hence not able to devote the kind of time that is required to build and maintain a world class team. Need of the hour is to overhaul the system and start from scratch and have former players run the show (like Zee's ICL)We need full time administrators and fortunately our board has enough money to pay these people. There are no short cuts. But I am afraid even if they do all that, it will take years to build a world beating team. There are no short cuts. Throwing out a few players will be a temporary solution. We need to think long term.

Worst Phase in indian cricket
by Raman on May 15, 2007 11:32 AM

Not that Indian cricket has reigned on top anytime, most of the times it was one great season or one great win like the 1983 WCUP(once in a century achievement) or some great series wins. But right now last few years its been one loss after another, not only that, never in the history of our game have we seen such selfish and cunning players in the team like Endulkar and some worst selectors like Vengsarkar with too many double standards and nonsense theories like letting the captain decide on selection etc..moreover the icing to the cake is the Deadly duo of Shastri and Gavaskar at the helm to not only protect the worst possible offenders like Sachin but also to have the worst possible setup and management of our countrys cricket.
This is very very sad indeed that we have to endure all this and listen to these idiots everyday,GOD please save Indian cricket.
Our Cricket is so outdated and despite so many losses including those 20 odd finals lost(against weaker teams in those TRI Series) the selfish players continously been selected in the team its becoming unbearable to watch Cricket as a Indian fan, people are getting used to Mediocricity and rubbish, recently Shastri said we are unstoppable, wow after a win against Bangla all the losses should be forgotten.
What double standards we got,on one hand Aussies win like 28 games at a stretch in WCUPS and if they loose one match our legends like Bhajji will say oh Aussies are beatable whereas we win a Game after all those pathetic losses and we are hard to stop..My GOD these guys do have some balls dont they?

I dont see any indian cricket who got those many changes as Sehwag got.. I dont understand why selectors and dravid still back him up.

Sehwag is riding his luck for the past couple of years.. I pity INDIAN Selecting Panel.

People want Indian team to play like Ausies.. but I say the panel should Play like Ausies.

Drop him
by on May 15, 2007 09:43 AM

He has been tried enough times, he should be dropped now. If he cant score against Bangladesh in subcontinent then whats the use of having him in the team.

Drop him BCCI
by on May 15, 2007 09:41 AM  | Hide replies

I cant understand why BCCI persists with him. He cant score against minnows like bangladesh that too on subcontinent batting pitches. What the heck is wrong with BCCI? Sachin, Sehwag, Ganguly, Dhoni all these guys deserve place on a bench outside of the stadium.

Mr.Vengsarkar never gets the nuances of one day cricket though he is good test player.I remember one match where Vengsarkar,Amarnath and co. spoiling a wonderful start provided by late Raman Lamba and Srikkanth. Now he is teaching one day lessons for Veeru who has very good strike rate near 96.What a pity!Even 30 runs with 100 strike rate is a good contribution in one day. These mumbaikars are preoccupied with fifties and tons.Chappel and now Vengsarkar are now playing with the confidence of Veeru.Mind you batting all about confidence.

Drop him
by Padya Phirangi on May 15, 2007 06:17 AM

With no good technique behind him, attack is the only way he can play. If he stops attacking, then the bowler will take his nuts out...

So drop him, let him get his techniques right, let him get the foot moving... He is wasting a valuable place in the team.

Thats not the solution
by rajiv kapoor on May 15, 2007 12:22 AM  | Hide replies

the actual solution is not to make him change his game and batting style. the real solution is to drop him from team. he doesnt understand the importance of a place in the team at present. he is getting it all too easily and hence doesnt value it. drop him from team... not just for a match or two but for a good 6-12 months... surely he'll come good if his mind can getinto balance and he can know wat he is supposed to do...
