Foreign coaches in South East Asian teams!
by Ramesh Kapoor on May 14, 2007 06:58 PM

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh all had foreign cricket coaches, who basically were ex-cricket players in their own time. Why then there is an apathy towards the locals? Are the local coaches, like selectors, have their favorites, or they were poorly treated by their local cricket boards and want to settle their own scores. Whatever may be the reason, there is undoubtedly going to be discussion on who is who and who did what. If Tom Moody is going back home, so what. Why bring in Greg Chappel into discussion?

LUCKY MOODY & POOR CHAPPLE
by kkeevviinn on May 14, 2007 02:57 PM

Did any of you try to put Moody in Chapple's place and Chapple in Moody's place during the WC??
What a boaring charactor was Moody?????? If Chapple was the SL coach SL would have won the World Cup. Yes India couldn't do that under Chapple, But who was listening to Chapple in Indian team. Chapple was only a master piece in Indian line up.
It was Ten,Gan, Seh, Hari, Agar Mafia who was running Indian cricket during WC.
Yiou think Moody would have done something different to Indian team???????? No way, since he did,t do anything for SL team. At times Murali had to wake him up to show that sangakkara was out. What a coach???
Tell me why you need a coach??????????/ If you have a strong captain that's enough. Coaches just complecate things. They think that they own the team.

Sameer,
Its true that there r some mistakes in the press release. Given the fact the most of then havent had english as their first language and the "press secretary" post is just an honorary post (without merit) I'm not surprised :) However, the thing about the sling is correct. A sling is a type of suspension bandage that is made for a dislocated shoulder or broken collar bone. Havent u seen those movie heroes who hide their guns in one of those slings? Anyway, I hope u can cross off a mistake by the BCCI....lol.

You are right. Not only you many of the Indian Cricket lovers are surprised and disappointed with Dravid's continuance as Captain of the team. BCCI needs "YES SIR" type of man to lead India. And Dravid is perfect for that. Player who depends upon others to win matches for us can never be a successfull ODI captain.

Rajshekhar, I am sorry but I don't agree with you. I am not abig fan of Rahul Dravid, the captain, but a huge fan of Rahul Dravid, the batsman... so saying that he depends upon others to win matches is not right... Dravid has won matches for us from his own blade in the past... lets give credit where its due

Dravid has never been a matchwinner. At best, he can play anchor role and support a more attacking batsman. Rahul can be good in conditions that help seam bowlers, but he doesn't have the shots or attitude to carry a match on his shoulder. Except for few low scoring match, Rahul has rarely been a match winner. Even in last worldcup match, it was pathetic - a guy like Ajit agarkar trying to hit at everything knowing that his captain will not be able to maintain the required run rate. He might make 1000s of runs, but will not be considered a true great, due to his inability to attack.

All the Coaches are interested in money not in coaching, If u coach properly money will come, For small change in salary coaches are going here and there
