Its a pathetic condition for media, sachin, dravid and BCCI
by Kantilal Vora on May 06, 2007 07:26 AM  | Hide replies

Cricket is a monster game in India which has orphanaged all other games.Just peek behind and compare Sachin with Inzaman or Lara or Viv Richrds or Javed Miandad. When all these players were setteled at the crease they won the matches for their country. If u see the records of bloody f*** Tendulkar he appears to be at far higher level than these players, but the fact is that these players are far more superior to him.Pathetic bloody f*** media previously has overhyped Tendulkar's performance in such a way that in one of the newspapers which I was scrolling , he was named as 'The God of Mumbai'.There are lots of issues which are more important than cricket in India which needs to be highlighted by media like population explosion, poverty and bla bla bla.Compare the cricket players of Australia vs India.Indian cricket players r stars created by media and martket. So media should understand responsibility not to make them stars.Even if they loose to Bangladesh , BCCI will find some weaker teams like Holland, Saudi Arabia to play cricket against India in which Sachin will make his records. In last player should be a player not a star and those players who dont shed their sweat on ground should not be included in the team

Indian system has not changed
by Venkat Ramakrishnan on May 06, 2007 07:03 AM

It's called 'katta panjaayathu' in tamilnadu.
For everything, there is a bunch of 'heads'
who will discuss to form a committee, which will
meet to form another committee, which will
meet to form another committee, and on and on
and on...

Nothing gets resolved.

I saw in PERTH that not a Single paper of Australia give Cricket the hype that it deserves even after winning the World cup by them. These guys play the game as a game and never turn it into a business (betting,advertisement,..etc).

Prediction for Indian Cricket 2007-08
by mate on May 06, 2007 03:19 AM  | Hide replies

The BCCI is going to negotiate the contract at a wrong juncture. The bangladesh tour is not the ideal tour to discuss about a contract. Bangaladesh, even though did beat india in the world cup, it is too much of an ask to repeat the same. India may handover BD a big defeat (Probably the same kind, which Windies handed over india after their world cup loss in 1983) and all these guys (Along with the media) would come back as if they were the world beaters. Nothing would change in their contract, All the senior players would continue to have to 14-15 endorsements, would skip practice sessions for AD shoots, may get injured or stressed out due to the AD sessions and many might not even be fit for the England tour. Yet they would all be selected and India would be pathetically defeated by an equally pathetic English Team. India would then again be beaten black and blue in the 20/20 world cup and after than they take a tour down under (Australia), their pathetic performance would continue and will return probably with a 2-0 (Of the 4 tests scheduled,Am I expecting too much?) verdict and will also not qualify for the triangular series final (Obviously it is again going to be Aussie-SL final with Aussies (May be SL)winning it). By the same time next year India would have completed most of its season with pathetic results. Yet when the contract negotiations happen next year, the seniors (Nobody would have retired by then) would not sign the dotted line and probably we will be having a discussion on similar lines. This is the prediction for Indian cricket this season.

rightly said buddy. Looks like players are not serious about cricket else they would have signed the contract. Why dont they defeat Australians in Australia in test series (impossible dream) then they can demand as much money as possible from BCCI. But thats not gonna happen. we will again see a ludicruous loss from England and Australia

BCCI should take a firm stand.. if you want to play sign the contract and then play.. or else just get lost.
There will be so many players waiting to get a chance.. you can call them up.. shewag, tendulkar, dravid et. al. did not even make the team to qualify for the next stage of the world cup. If BCCI is still going to give a hear to these players then they will walk over the BCCI

leave the cricket team alone!!
by Dande Waala on May 06, 2007 01:44 AM  | Hide replies

I don't know why all this ruckus over our overly patriotic cricket team. Big deal if they play for money.. so what.. big deal if the matches are fixed.. so what.. Big deal if the players suck.. so what hunh.. Big deal if BCCI is useless... hunh.. let them perform and the only place they perform good is the TV screen.. I would encourage these players to take up more ads.. seriously how many of us can forget Dravid and his stinking Jam.. jam jam jammie.. so what if Mr jamie can't play.. Big deal... I think BCCI should think smart and help these players pursue their dreams in the ad world. For every successful ad BCCI should take a percentage of the contract amount given to the players. See this will result in a win win situation for BCCI as well as the players.... Yeah ok our team will not win matches.. Big deal.. hunh so what if people will pollute message bords like these with anti cricket/BCCI/Players sentiment.. Big deal who cares anyways..

No point in talking about commercials
by adhish prasoon on May 06, 2007 01:08 AM  | Hide replies

Tell me one popular sport in which the players are not earning heavily. The one who is not popular will not get any coomercial contracts also. The one who performs, will have will be a cult figure in the society and as result will get commercial contract also. How many contracts does Dinesh Mongia and Parthiv Patel enjoy? The people form these MNC's are not fools. They will show no interest at all in the players who don't perform. So, getting comeercial contracts is also directly related to the player's performance. This is not in the case of Cricket only.It happens in all other sports.Even the the case of filmstars also.Amitabh gets more ads then anybody else because he is the most popular. So, this discussion on player's doing commercials is not relevant.Just a good selection policy will serve the purpose.Anyone in India can do ads if the company signs him or her, so let them l also do that.Lets see wheteher they will get any ads even if the majority of the people of India hate them.

yes, This is bad that BCCI do not know, how ADS can motivate our cricketers to perform well.

This BCCI management has never enjoyed success in life, so they do not know the taste of success. First of all change the whole BCCI team and put Kapil Dev, Gavaskar on the top posts. cricket will be better.

I actually think that we should promote all forms of sports, not only cricket in India and make sure that players who dedicate their lives to such sports don't get burnt

Sania Mirza was not good last year ......
by Gmail vs Rediffmail : Whois is better ? on May 06, 2007 12:51 AM

So should she be sacked ?

She has done more ads last year and a more popular personality.

Stop this nonsense of sacking, pay cutting, sponsorship banning.

Produce good crickers who can give competion to seniors, dont just sack them. in the recent 20-20 domestic which junior played better than senior like tendulkar or ganguly, no one was at par.

Tendulkar Ganguly Dravid are the best and respect them.
