Be Firm BCCI
by Nauzer Gagrat on May 06, 2007 01:29 PM

One would have thought that after our disastrous showing in the world cup the team would buckle up and concentrate on rebuilding. Instead when they should have been concentrating all their energies in digging Indian cricket out of the morass that they have landed the game in, we find that the commitment and focus is on money matters, and sadly the senior players have once again taken the lead in this. What type of an example are they setting on the juniors? And the message they seem to be passing to us the cricket loving public is that the game can go to hell. If their purses are not fattened they will go to the extent of holding Indian cricket up for ransom. There is something called as commitment. If the players want more money, let them win and claim the huge bonus that the BCCI is offering for a series win. If the seniors are up to the challenge well and good, and if they are not and are hell bent on vitiating the atmosphere, then the BCCI should stand firm and show them the door, irrespective whatever apologists like Vengkasar and Gavaskar have to say about their favorites. After getting knocked out of the world cup, can we sink any lower? If the stars are replaced by honest, committed, upright cricketers whose first interest is Indian Cricket and not fattening their own wallets, we will be back to our winning ways. Alternatively pandering to these so called star players, will only ensure that Indian cricket digs a deeper hole for itself. BCCI for once you are on the right track. Stand up to these shameless star tantrums, and act decisively with them.

Please devote your valuable for space for something more worth-while. I am sure majority do not have any interest in this bunch of losers who can only fight for anything other than on the play ground.

Indian Cricketers do not deserve even this
by Raghuraman Narayanan on May 06, 2007 10:50 AM  | Hide replies

I fail to understand why BCCI to set up a committee for this, when the public opinion is totally in favour of not to increase even a penny for this shameless Indian Cricket Team, who got humiliating defeat in the world cup. BCCI does not have a spine to stand tall. They are paralysed. Why cant they take a bold decision to drop, repeat drop and not rest, all the players who did not perform well in the world cup and give a chance to new young promising players. Unless or otherwise the domination of senior players is eradicated, the team will continue to perform even worse. BCCI should take public opinion and not a two member committee's opinion, as we all know that BCCI is one more political field and all good politicians play there.

These Shameless bunch donot deserve even to carry the cap of India on their heads. I strongly recommend, all those players who didnot perform in the world cup should be dropped irrespective of their previos records. Indian cricket has never been so low. I send shame to all those players. It is no use to carry all the records on the name and not even one world cup for the country. I wish BCCI should put a ban on all the advertising of cricketers and also cease their properties which they have got. They have no moral right to play again for the country if they bring shame to us. BCCI should show courage to select new boys and let them make a good team. Because all those seniors are the only spoilers.

Good Luck India !

I just can not quote better that "Ulta Chor Kotwal Ko Dante".

What a joke. After that shameful exit from the world cup first round, our senior players are not concerned with performance but the money. I hope BCCI is also equally responsible for our defeat in WC.

BCCI and players should act honestly.

hmmm honestly ehh ... well BCCI just like any other corporation is out there to make money . Before you give big speeches about honesty, you might want to deliver that speech to all businessmen who openly cheat on their taxes, and instill "cheating is fine unless you get caught mentality in their children"

BCCI is run by a bunch of jokers no doubt. But tell me which ones worse , watching a cricket team managed by a bunch of curropt jokers or selecting a bunch of curropt immoral jokers to run our states/country ....

Trust me there is bigger issues to worry about

Please shut up......U say Sachin and Shewag are not finished and we should respect these guys. Sachins era is over and Shewags reflexes vanished permanently. These two players are a big liability to the Indian team ! Why we should give more time ? Who are u to advise us ?

When Greg Chappel was Coach none of the players were injured during practice. When u took over, everyone, including your favourites are getting injured. That shows your experience as Manager-cum-Coach. U please get the hell out of Indian team and concentrate with your media business.

Do they have a choice? You talk as though BCCI is some respectable company. You just know how much the player earns ... atleast the player puts in hardwork n sacrifice while playing this game.
What do you think the BCCI officials do? They earn much more than all the players put together, and what have they done to breed new talent? What have they done to encourage budding cricketers? IF at all they have done something, its much much lower than what other countries do. And other countries don't even have the kind of funds the BCCI has access to.

ONE MORE IMPORTANT THING --- BCCI does not run on the tax payers money, so besides all the points I have made, they actually don't have anyone to answer to. It%u2019s basically like us complaining the way Indian companies like wipro/infosys run. They don't have to answer to anyone.

So quit being EMO Queens.

Also @poovalai ravikumar

Could you tell me whats profitable ... sending a subpar team with unproven talent to bangladesh or sending an out of SYNC team with proven talent.
Am pretty sure you will find sponsors for the latter case than the former ... and in case you are ignorant enough to blabber about sponsors .. let me tell you that there is nothing that can run without sponsorship . Yes , it includes your fav serials/movies on tv and virtually every sport in the world.

Negotiation wsith the Committee, my foot.W
by Satyanarayan Thakur on May 06, 2007 09:27 AM

Where is the need to bow down and form a new Committee for negootiating with the senior players. Those of the players who are not happy with the new terms of the contract should be simply dispensed with. Let those new players (there is no dearth of them), be given chance and train them. atahey will be genuinely for the game of cricket and not money. The results will not be seen immediately, but in course of time we will have a very good team, who will enjoy playing and we all shall enjoy their game.
BCCI must show there determination and stick on firmly to the terms stipulated. They have already diluted the clause concerning the endorsements ,changing from 3 to 6, which amounts to stepping down. IF THE PLAYERS DO NOT WANT TO SIGN THE DOTTED LINES ,THEY ARE FREE TO LEAVE. DON'T PAMPER THEM ANY MORE.

@RAVI Kumar ,

Would you like CBI/INDIAN GOVT to interfere in your house matters ? In case you don't get it ... BCCI is not run on tax payers money ... you have 0 right to Whine about them . And seriously, CBI should have more pressing matters to handle than spend time on the Cricket team. Boy o Boy, the ignorance runs wild among us Indians.
