I hear noises about hiring an indian ex-player as coach. COaching is a specialized job and the players that make great coaches are usually those who are not as gifted as some of the others. However, succeeded, 'cause they knew their limitations and made the best use of their resources.
Look around the world and count the number of great players that have become successful coaches. Very few. So, please stop this delusion that former indian greats will all make good coaches. If they are willing to put in the hours to become a trained coach, that is a different matter.
BCCI is probably feeling the heat and is ready to make another one of their patented and less than inspiring moves moves.
As someone else said here, why doesn't the BCCI be open and straight forward, if they had indeed approached Buchanan.
BCCI is within its rights to get things right, after the world cup. However, the timing of this enquiry with the retiring Aussie Coach Buchi. leaves much to be desired. Shah and his cronies should have waited atleast until the dust settles down.
If BCCI had asked Buchi. to train some of the aspiring coachlings in India, it might have worked.

Sir if you read the article carefully....the bcci had approached Buchanan "before" they left for the Windies....hence your claim that they should've waited for the dust to settle down is completely out of place.
I really think this should happen....We should trade Tendu for Symonds...i mean he's a great all rounder...like a 2 in 1 package...also has the coolest hair ever! serious competition for Dhoni.. i will walk to the Hanuman mandhir everyday if this happens

ooh aswika...for ur sake...i recommend vinod kambli..if that pleases u..hehehehe....kambli to coach the ground cleaning staff!
They can be promoted and sent to Parliament. Mr. Shah is ignorant about approaching Buchanan??????? Why cant they be transparant in their approach and actions? BCCI is heading towards a crash.
I didn't understand why the indian officials looking for the forgign coach. We have a no. of great players like Kapil Dev,Amarnath, Sunil Gavaskar, Srikant etc. Why indian Board is not giving the opportunity to those guys. These people are very much professional. and they can do wonders for the india. Foreign Coach's are good but htey didnot easily understand the mentality of our Players. So, i am requesting India board to please don't repeat thse type of silly mistakes. it will lead to the damage, no benefit is there. So, please select a good indian Coach for further good work in the indian team.
RE:Regarding Coach

Let us debate about the qualities that are needed for a coach. In my point of view, we do not need the coach of a national team to teach the skills and techniques of the game. The players should learn this in the academies. The coach should be a strategist, mentor and motivator. Look at the coaches in the US sports teams. Many of them have never played the game Even if they played, they were not the best players. So in this context, I am not sure Amarnath or Kapil Dev or Gavaskar ar the great motivators. If they are why not Srilanka or Bangaladesh or other teams approached them to coach. I think the Indian team needs a coach who can control the rich players and keep the team together. Given this, Dhirubha Ambani could have been a good caoch:). Hope you all got my point. It does not really matter whether the coach from India or not. I would prefer foreign coach just because coaching is not a established profession in India. Any comments.

so lets bring on Devang Gandhi,Adam Bacher from south africa,Mathew Elliot from Australia to name a few. Many of them have played the game Even if they played, they were not the best players
India has lot of talent in teaching cricket to our national cricket team or budding cricketers. Indian culture, habits, mental approach to any activity is different from western or eastern ways. The probability of success is high, if Indian coach is hired.

wat is your basis that indian will be a great coach ...before Jhon wright all coaches were indians and india done very badly under Mr Kapil dev ....India made a wrong choice as chappel but making caoch from india could turn into disaster ...sadly whatmore or late woolmer were not given the due consideration that time but i think Tom moody , or dev whatmore or any thorough professional shud be given chance not some one like kapil dil se
i think it is our mentality, we want political leader, cricket coach from outside. in past british ruled us for more than 100 years, and still outsiders are ruling us by way of BPO, OUTSOURCING ETC. till our cricketers take responsibility and egarness to win, any coach will not make any change. pl note we are still continuing with sehawag, kumble, dhoni to some extent sachin also. very remote chances that we will win in bangaladesh
