This pair is the best opening pair for India.
I wonder what made Chappell to do all those experiments and ruin Indian Cricket.
I wish I can see them open again for India and win matches for India.

Because GC was an arrogant guy who wanted to control Indian cricket and then destroy by his silly experiments. He somehow showed some big presentations and ideas which BCCI accepted and supported him blindly without even battling an eyelid and see where he took Indian cricket to. I can say that he did succeed in his mission because he took Indian cricket to number 9 position from number 5 when he took over. Now he blames the players for the fiasco. Just because he was a good cricketer does not make him a good coach.

CricketLover,
India became no.4 once, during GC's reign.
The politics inside indian cricket was too much for him to handle.

Even Sachin fans want his ouster
by Raman on May 04, 2007 09:26 PM  | Hide replies

Guys i have realized that no one likes Sachin no more and the people on here who support him saying he is still Young,Master Blaster etc are being sarcastic and really want to hear bad comments on their Hero(Former Hero),because no sane person will ever wish Sachin to be back, not after being felled by a Sreesanth(the guy who didnt even feature in the playing 11 for this losing team) bouncer.
If not for Sunil Gavaskar,Ravi Shastri,Dilip Vengsarkar Endulkar wouldve been out of Team India 2 years back itself.
Like the ball of the Century,he trying to play the 2011 WCUP is the joke of the century. He cant even play in the Masters tournament at this rate. But he is shameless and still continue to appear thats our misfortune. But there is a limit for everything,GOD will put an end to this guys greed and teach him a lesson,IT raids should happen and he jailed.

RE:Even Sachin fans want his ouster

These are the following reasons
1. Sachin is occupying a position and is not doing justice to the side. He is not playing any responsible knocks in recent times or for the matter in the last 5-6 years.
2. After all, let us see what Wisden says.
In the Wisden list for best knocks in ODI's, Sachin's useless and horrible 40 centuries do not feature in the first best 10. So how can we call him the Master Blaster?
3. In the Wisden's list of best Test knocks , Sachin's horrible centuries do not feature in the top 10, probably it features in the bottom 10.
4. You are giving good statistics Shri Aslam but unfortunately, Sachin's great knocks ( great because we call it so) are not even regarded by experts as even countable.
5. Cric Info may be good, but it definitely would not give when India lost when Sachin scored a century. There are umpteen examples.
6. And there are numerous examples when Sachin scored a duck when India really needed him. The latest one being the match against Sri Lanka in WC 2007.
7. Then WC 2003 final, then WC 1999 against Aus, WC 1999 against New Zealand, ICC Champions Trophy 2006 against Aus......it goes on and on...
Do you want any more such beautiful and unbreakable records by Sachin?

When many people say how many of Sachin's hundreds have come for a winning cause,Here is analysis of each of those centuries he scored when INDIA lost and reason why it went in vain.
Out of the 41 hundreds, 11 hundreds have gone in vain.
1. 137 off 137 (Strike rate 100) balls Vs SriLanka at Delhi in 1996 World Cup .
India scored 271/3 in 50 overs. The only other 50 score was from Azhar. SL made 272 in 48.4 overs. Manoj Prabhakar had 4-0-47-0. He also opened in the innings and scored 7 of 36 balls.
2. 100 of 111 Balls Vs Pak in Singapore- Apr 96.
India 226 all out in 47.1 overs, When Sachin was out score was 186/4 (We cant blame because next 3 are match fixtures) . Pak had a reduced target of 187 from 33 overs.
3. 110 of 138 Balls (Slower but...) vs Sri Lanka In Colombo - Aug 96.
Again India 226 for 5 in 50 overs, Only other 50 score from Azhar (58 of 99 balls !!!).Sachin has also bowled 6-0-29-1 , the second most economical bowler and the only wicket taker (SL were 230/1 in 44.2) of the match next to Srinath. 7 bowlers were used by Azhar.
4. 143 of 131 Balls (!!!) Vs Aus at Sharjah, Apr 1998.
This was chasing under lights. The qualifying match before the final. The whole world knows about this match. Still one interesting point, when Sachin was out India were 242 at 5 at 43 overs. Target was 276 in 46. Still India finished at 250/5 scoring just 8 of the next 3 overs. Great performance by Laxman and Kanithkar indeed.
5. 101 of 140 Balls against SL at Sharjah in Oct 2000.
Indian score was 224/8 in 50 overs. (No other 50 score). SL got 225/5 in 43.5, Sachin also bowled 5-0-22-0, better economy rate than everyone except Srinath.
6. 146 of 153 Balls against Zimbabwe at Jodhpur - December 2000 (Game of Dougla Mariliar)
India made 283 / 8 in 50 overs. Sachin was the last man to be dismissed, score was 235/8 at 46.3 overs when he was out. Agarkar and Zaheer Khan propelled India to 283 in the last 3.3 overs. When Sachin has scored 146 of 235 in 46.3 overs, you can guess what the other 8 great batsmen were doing against the World class Zimbabwe attack. Second Highest scorer was Zaheer Khan with 32.
Zim got 284/9 in 49.5 overs. Kumble bowled the last over. Sachin also got 6-0-35-1
7. 101 of 129 Balls Vs SA at Johannesburg - Oct 2001
India got 279/5 in 50, Ganguly made 127 of 126 balls. When Ganguly got out, the score was 193-1 in 35.2 overs. Sachin was the last man to get out at 263. SA got 280 in 48.4 overs. Sachin bowled 9-0-51-0, second best in economy rate next only to Agarkar (10-0-45-1)
8. 141 of 135 balls Vs Pak at Rawalpindi, March 2004.
India were chasing 329 and were 317 all out in 48.4 overs, 8 balls to spare. No other batsman made even a 50 (when chasing 300 ) and when Sachin was out, India were 245-4 in 38.4 overs. They needed 85 from 68 balls with 6 wickets in hand.
9. 123 of 130 Balls vs Pak at Ahmedabad, April 2005.
India made 315/6 in 48 overs (48 over match), again no other 50 score. Second highest was Dhoni 47 of 64 balls, (third highest was extras - 39). Pak made 319 in 48 overs. The three quicks (Balaji, Nehra and Khan went for 188 runs from 26 overs between them taking only 2 wickets). Sachin bowled 6-0-36-1. No Harbhajan and no Kumble.
10. 100 of 113 Balls Vs Pak at Peshawar, Feb-2006.
India were 328 all out in 49.4 overs. Pathan and Dhoni got 60 each. When Sachin was out when India were 305-5 in 45 overs. Managed only 23 in the last 5 overs.Pak scored 311/7 in 47 overs and won by D/L method. Could have been anybody's game. Sachin did not bowl.
11. 141* of 148 balls vs WI at Malaysia.
India made 309 /5 in 50 overs. Sachin was not out. Pathan was the only other 50 scorer. WI made 141/2 in 20 overs and won by D/L method. Again could have been anybody's game.
In the other 31 instances India has won 30 times and once there was no result .
Now, please think again when you say sachin's 100s were in the losing cause and that he is not a team player. It is a fact that for the entire 90's India played International cricket with 1 PLAYER and 10 JOKERS.

So People - please think before you talk.

All of you are thinking of ousting Sachin - Please tell me do we have anyone better for his position ???

The answer is we never will have a player of his calibre in the near future - so learn to appreciate him for what he is.

Whay are you always talking about replacing Sachin? He is any way irreplacable. But all good things has to come to an end.
What good past are we having Shri Bijo
1992 WC lost
1996 WC lost
1999 WC lost
2003 WC lost
2007 WC lost
And in all WC's Sachin played.
What was he doing?
Don't put the blame on others?
If we say that Sachin is the greatest, then Sachin's innings should prove that.
Tell me one great innings of Sachin in WC's
Don't talk about 98 in 74 balls in WC 2003.

Utter nonsense, when Sachin was given a chance at 16 yrs of age it took him 5 years and 74 ODIS to score his first ODI century while Inzi scored his first century lot sooner, same with Brian Lara, but still in India we were hailing Sachin as the best(Even before he was the best),if he could be given a chance at a young age and be persisted until he came good, why not bring in another Youngster.
When Sachin came to the squad he replaced Mohinder Amarnath,do u think he was better than Amarnath?
If not for having the Support of the Big mouthed Hypocrite Sunil Gavaskar and becoming a sentimental favorite he would have been sacked long time back and would never have gotten the chances he got in the first place

That truly is a wonderful response.
However I would like to point some flaws in your argument.
If whatever centuries of Sachin you are talking about, why are they not counted by experts?
These statistics you will get in many of the Australian players who are winning matches single handedly day in and dau out.
Because Sachin made a century and because India lost, we should no say that Sachin should not be blamed.
Any player who has been into cricket for 371 ODI's and about 130 test matches will definitely have some records to talk about. But we must talk facts. Has he played any innings in tests similar to 153* by Lara against Aus in 1999 in WI. Has he played like Steve's 200 against WI on a wet and green turf in 1995? Has he played like Atherton's 185 to save a test match against South Africa in 1997 against the likes of Donald? Has he played any innings similar to Laxman's 281 to win a test match? Has he ever played like Lara's 277 against Aus?
132 by Lara at Perth in 1995-96 against Aus?
Why Sachin in his 17 years of cricket does not have a match winning test knock to his credit?
Can we think of this situation if Sachin had scored like Gilchrist's 149 in 102 balls in a WC final, what would we have done?
I never question his centuries, I question the timing when he made it.
Any body would have done it. Subject to the condition if that player had got support from the board, Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri what Sachin has been getting over the years.
What did Sachin do in the first innings of Adelaide test match in 2003? first and second innings of Melbourne test match of 2003?
He scored ducks.
But why Sachin is not having any ODI century in Australian pitches?
And Sir, we should defintely not dig the history pages to prove that Sachin is great. We don;t have enough examples of the present situation so we tend to go into the past to prove that Sachin was good. We must talk about the present.
If Sachin has had a glorious past Sachin should not play for another three WCups. Is this the logic?
And for your question
All of you are thinking of ousting Sachin - Please tell me do we have anyone better for his position ???
Answer is
Give some oppurtunity to youngsters.
If we give what Sachin got at age 14, then we can think of another great player, may be greater than Sachin. Who knows!!!
But are we ready to do that? Are Sunil and Ravi Shastri ready to do that?

But that is a stupid response Ghosh of yours, because as said experts are racist morons. Lara is great for them because no Indian said that. Sachin played some of the greatest Innings cricket ever got to see. His centuries against australia in australia is the fact. But we do not have walsh and Ambrose to save the face. Remember when Lara scored 153, Walsh survived 16 balls which our entire Indian team could not do after Sachin was out against pakistan not minding a bad back and scoring 135. His 150 against Australia in Chennai was murder compared to any cricketers innings against Oz. And why should you consider a century on Oz pitches, it was never questioned why Ozs do not have better scores on spinning tracks. Thing is very simple, India are not good at counting our heroes.

I think I will give you the details of Sachin's knocks in Australia.
116 at Perth 1992 India lost
148 at Sydney 1992 India drawn
116 at Melbourne 1999 India lost
241* (the most boring knocks I have ever seen) at Sydney 2003 India drawn

Now see Lara
153* 1999 WI won
216 at Kingston 1999 WI won
132 at Perth 1994-95 WI won
277 at Sydney ( the classiest knock any touring batsman has played in Australia as said by Channel 9)

See Steve Waugh
200 in 1995 Australia won
167 in 1996-97 against South Africa Aus won
1999 in WI 1999 Aus won

Let me ask you
Do you remember Steve's 120* against South Africa in 1999 WC
Have you seen Sachin playing such knocks when he carried the bat in a crunch situation?
Steve Waugh does not have 41 centuries like Sachin, but his 120* is rated as top 5 knocks in the history of ODI.
It is not the question of fast tracks or spinning, the question is to deliver when your side really needs you.
Everybody scored against Bermuda, if you had been there, you would also have scored some 20-30's.
So don't count that innings at all when you want to evaluate him in par with Waugh or Lara.

No responsibility in the last five years means including 2003 world cup that means you were sleeping. Shri Ghosh, Sachin scored a duck when India needed him and he did score also when we needed him, but who has done that in the Indian cricketing history, scoring when needed. Dear Anil
Either you are ignorant or are trying to be so.
India did not reach the finals of 2003 WC because of Sachin. If you are saying so ,then please see the old videos of 2003 WC.
He did not score against Aus, New Zealand, England. Well, if it really matters for you that he scored against Namibia, then everybody would have done that in that place.
And Shri Anil, I am not trying to bring in Rahul or for that matter Saurav.
They are any way worse than Sachin.
Yes, I agree that he scored, but it is also a fact that he had to. Everybody would have done that. But you are known as a Master Blaster or the best batsman next only to Bradman, then we atleast expect that Sachin scores in crunch matches.
Previously India had the record of losing 13 consecutive finals. What Sachin was doing?
And our greatest ODI win at the Lord's in 2003 against England, there was no contribution from Sachin.
How do you justify that?
So how can we blindly believe Sachin when he keeps on failing when it really matters.
He has the record, he has the money, he has the advertisements; everything....but what is missing from Sachin is the WC win or the cup itself.
He never succeeded, nor will he...
So Shri Anil, do not bost of Sachin's useless and hopeless records because it has not helped India's cause.
Kindly check Sachin's ODI average in finals of any series. You will yourself get the answer.
Remember how he got out in WC finals in 2003. 2001 final in Zimbabwe against WI, against Pakistan in 1999-2000 in Aus.

I don't know cricket? I know, don't bring stats into picture, if that is the case there is no need for McGrath to retire, no need for Warne to retire, He lost his prime that is the fact. He is not the same old Sachin, he is just playing so he can fulfill the contractual agreement with many companies. I used to like his game and I still say he was great, not anymore he has become an ordinary player, Indian cricket don%u2019t need ordinary player, if you are looking for ordinary player try giving chances to S.Badrinath, Suresh Raina, and many more young legs are waiting for a call. Statistics can be misleading and that is exactly what is happening with Sachins case. He was a great player no doubt, he stood so many times as lone man to fight against the finest bowling attacks no questions, every bowler used to fear him, all of them were in the past. Now in the present all equations changed, do you know how many times in the past 15 games he dragged deliveries onto stumps? How many times he got out coz of in coming deliveries? Why this is happening now? Don%u2019t tell me I don%u2019t know cricket, accept the reality and move on, he passed his prime he should retire from ODI and give way to young legs PERIOD.

Mr.Karthik, if you know some cricket (which I assume you do based on your comments) you should not be talking like one that does not know it. Over the years everyone gets some chinks in the techniques (including the great Viv Richards, GC himself, the incomparable GS Sobers) at some point in their careers. All great players overcome this phase and come back even stronger because form is temporary but class is permanent. In fact there was a time in early 80s when Viv Richards was getting out repeatedly to left arm bowlers as he was not getting too far acrossm, but he did overcome this minor flaw and scored even bigger later. In Sachin's case it may be due to recent injuries but whatever be the reason. Even a 50% Sachin is better than the youngsters named above because we know that Sachin will come back strongly and shut the mouth of arm chair critics like you. In the last 2 years India has tried atleast 12-15 youngsters but there was not a single player who has shown any class whatsover to survive at the highest levels. Just a couple of good innings here and there is not going to take them anywhere. Just because the wind blowing against Sachin these days because of the media hype, does not mean that you follow everyone. How do you know that he is playing only for money? How can you accuse someone of this without even knowing anything except the rumours that are published in the media?

Where can you find Sachin now

2. In an advertisment counter (Now that he has a sprained ankle, we can find him in Amrutanjan, Moov or Iodex counters)

No fool wil play the very first ball that the legent Murali ball with the back foot... Let us pray god to give sixth sense to him, then we wil ask captaincy for him... All have forgotten Mr. Kaif... Ok his turn will come to prove.. Remember he is the only U19 captain who won the World Cup in the year 2000. He has enough temperment and this BCCi is not even thinking about the future. Dravid, Ganguly all wil put full stop in an year or two then this BCCI will send a fresh new captain to the 2011 world cup that too in INDIA... Even Pakistan have taken wiser decision by giving the captaincy to Sohaib Malik who is now 24.

Sachin was once the greatest, today he has become ordinary. It is sad. But still Sachin wants to play.
